Shogun 2: TW! Finally one without guns!

Sounds interesting. It isn't Rome 2, but still. :) I never played Shogun 1 so I am not sure if I like the setting, but everything must be better than the "lulz 1000 0000 gunmen in a line and 1 000 horsemen flanking" of Empire: Total War.

There probably will be guns, they had them in the first one.

Medieval 2 had guns too, but they were sort of just a bonus unit, who had terrible reload times, little armour and died quickly if a cavalry unit so much as farted on them.

Except Moorish Camel Gunners, they were badass. There's a reason why the Moor campaign is the only one where I achieved full on world domination.

Hey, I like all the guns and cavalry charges of Empire  :P

Its just as strategic as any of the other games. But anyway, i digress. I never played the first Shogun so it'll be cool to get a sort of taste of what it was like.

I'm still mildly disappointed they aren't making a bronze age middle eastern total war where you get to command the Hittites against the Egyptians, but whatever :P
Sam is basically right, he's just cranky.

Rome is the best setting IMO as the units are so diverse between the nations. So this HAS got guns? Bah, should have guessed it from the title. It is called ShoGUN: Total War after all.

I'm not sure how i feel about having to control an individual person this time around. I would like it a lot more if they would focus on making domestic politics more complicated, as opposed to familial politics.

Pardon the double post, but I had an idea (though it's not very realistic to the time period)

In previous games, when you recruited, people would simply join up. My idea is that instead of this system, there should be a recruiting pool for each city. The pool is made bigger by paying the army more (via a slider) or the city's patriotism. Patriotism is affected by holidays (which decrease region wealth because people don't work on holidays) or by buying celebrations (similar to Rome: Total War when you could have games). The more patriotic your city is, coupled with how much money soldiers are paid, would directly affect your recruiting pool. On the other hand, you could institute conscription, which would give you an "unlimited" recruiting pool, but would lower the quality of your soldiers.

Definitely not gonna happen, but what do you guys think?

Too complicated.  Having to go to castles to recruit / refresh my armies was annoying in Medieval II, that sounds even more annoying.

And we've got screenshots!

Edit: Somehow the spoilers don't seem to work...

A multitude of rulers is not a good thing. Let there be one ruler, one king.

Haha, you're not the only one. But thanks to a weak euro, hardware prices have been steadily increasing the last 2 months...
