An idea for a revival.
« on: May 28, 2010, 10:05:54 pm »
Well, I got to thinking about somthing. You know how TV shows have "arcs"? Well, what if we have arcs for our RP's? A central storyline upon which all mainline RP's revolve. In fact, I even have an idea for one that we could use once all the current RP's finish. It's called "The Infection".

Basically, an ancient wreck is found in some unexplored region of space, and come to find out, the wreck isn't so wrecked after all. It ramms the investigating ship, spreading some sort of insane sentient virus/nanobot hybrid that fuses organic and inorganic matter together, as in crew to ship, taking over the ship and crew. The whole investigating fleet gets taken over, and pods filled with this stuff are sent out across the galaxy. Then, all the races, morally good and evil, would have to cooperate to prevent becoming viral hosts.

So? So? I know it ain't the best, I'm just trying to think of something, Kosmosis kinda seems to have died down too. WORK WID MEH HERE!

It's a great idea, around the same level as the Harvester of Light saga is going to be. As for Kosmosis, you could always join the Club-Tail Saga. We need more people anyway.
Who are you again and why in the world would you expect anything resembling rationality or civility in youtube comments?

Speaking of the HoL Saga. Doc Oc, Yuu, expect the "scripts" shortly.

I wouldn't want to dismantle what you guys are trying to do. But we have been talking over on IRC. And we've made big plans for a cooperative RP with the merging of the General RP with the Spore RP.

You guys are all invited. If you want to do it the right way. Try and take a look at the guidelines we presented close to the end of the topic.

If you want to do it the right way.[/url]

I'm not exactly sure what you meant by this, Gec?  ???

The saga is more of a "mostly in-between us" kind of affair, anyways, from what I think, though I'm not sure.

It'd be kind of a waste to just abruptly stop the universe, in any case.  :-\

If worse comes to worst, it's better to go out with a bang, yes?  :)

A) What's IRC

And

B) By "merge" do you mean put on the same board? Because that would be a disaster. I though the Moving On thread was about a rule change.

Alright, but about Grox's nanobot virus, it reminds me of the Beast virus from Homeworld: Cataclysm.

YAY! Also, has your virus developed in our galaxy or is it extragalactic like the Beast virus?

Dunno yet. I'm leaning towards developed IN our galaxy, cuz I don't want it to be a Beast wannabe.

It fuses organic with inorganic, if I'm not mistaken. Beast virus does the same, but adds a little twist, it can make a turret that fires a energy beam laced with the Beast virus to infect a target ship. The larger the ship, the more time it takes to infect.

I'm guessing your virus doesn't do that, but has some twist, right?

Sorta. Sence traveling a VIHRUS along a LAZAHR BEAHM would INCINAHRAHTE the VIHRUS, that's completely out. My twist is that, rather than make the crew into biocircitry, this thing can control creatures, kinda like zombies.

Do they run or walk? And can they use objects like weapons and control consoles?

How do I put it... Well, I'll just explain out how "the Infection" works, in those terms.
The Infection is like a hive mind. The more intelligence it consumes (say, it infects a ship full of Photos, it would gain a fraction of the knowledge from all of the creatures), the more intelligent it would get. So at first, no they won't be able to use weapons or interface with items. But as more and more organisms fall to it, it would become able to manipulate creatures under it's control with greater extents of intellgence.

So basically, more like the Flood from Halo. Only it takes more time and bodies for it to use objects. Which makes me think... Y'know, Grox, how about you make a list on what the nanobot/virus can and cannot do.

Actually, in all thought, it can do pretty much anything a normal creature can, given enough intelligence. But, what I would like to clairify, is that it's a double-edged sword: Getting more life-forms increases overall intelligence, but lowers the intelligence distributed to each controled creature, so dumb creatures would be of little value. Creatures with a high standard intelligence would be prime targets.

Let's hurl all of our captive low-class pirates and terrorists straight at the virus! ;D Their hotbloodedness should be enough to dumb down the entire network! :D

Alright, so they are a virus that when it starts infecting a colony population or a ship crew, it starts with zombies and with the more infected, they grow a hive mind that contains every memory every infected had, but the more bodies it has, the less intelligent the "drones" are. So I'm going to assume there are intelligent infected guiding the "drones".

But I want to know one last thing, how are they part nanobot? Is the virus artificial?

Wait, you mean you're having second thoughts whether an entire civilization getting assimilated by zombie-viruses is a bad thing?  ???

EDIT:

On a related note: Can said zombie-viruses also infect bio-mechanicals like Orealyianis and Wexxians?
