You will never play a civilisation game with good Diplomacy.

They had a pretty reasonable system in Alpha Centauri. Dunno why they didn't keep it.

Brave New World is looking pretty good! Here's the newest video on it. And since I can't seem to find the first one, here's that too.

Alright guys! Not long now until Brave New World comes out.

Check out the list of changes! - Updated today (July 1)

There's a lot of new stuff that I am really looking forward to. Reworked trade routes and the new culture system are especially interesting.

Quote
"Although both parties gain gold from the route, the civilization that the trade route originates from gets a larger sum of gold than the destination civilization. Additionally, other systems hitch a ride on trade routes, like religious pressure, science (science can be gained from more advanced civilization this way), Tourism bonuses, and more. Trade routes can also be created between two cities of the same civilization. Once the origin city has a Granary, it can send food to the destination city, and once it has a Workshop it can send production. This can be powerful if you have a new city that needs to be “pumped up”, or a city that’s constructing a Wonder that could use a production bump."

And I'm really digging the new unit based on the Paratrooper, the XCOM Squad! ;D

So there was a new patch released, and with it, this:
Quote
New Mode - Pitboss - Your game can now run in a server mode, which allows players to connect, take their turn, disconnect, and come back later. Email notifications and steam notifications are built into the system. Once the system has received a healthy amount of feedback from the community, we will also include a stand-alone Pitboss server that does not require a steam account to run.

Anyone interested in playing a game like this?

It would be nice, but there would need to be a rule enforced about how long you have to take your turn.

Otherwise it could be agonizingly slow.

Of course. There might even be an option for that, I haven't checked. I think something between 12-24 hours would work, though.

Edit: You can set a turn timer in hours, and have a steam notification or e-mail sent when it's your turn.

Roughly eleven hours and thirty five minutes away... Depending on whether or not it's pre-loaded and whether or not the damn thing actually authorizes properly.

Get your BioShock talk out of here. We're here to talk about good games, not overrated rail shooters with bad equip systems and purchased atmosphere.

Venice is confirmed as broken. Play it before the patch it! :P
