Does anyone know a good trick how to skip the intro? Escape doesn't seem to work, and when I open task manager, Civ 5 just freezes.

You can skip the intro by editing the game's config file which is usually in My Documents > My Games > Civilization V.

From there locate UserSettings.ini and set SkipIntroVideo= to 1.

With that said, you still have to wait for the game to load. The intro masks a load time, which is why the video CAN be skipped after a bit of a wait. Once the game loads it allows you to hit escape to get to the title screen. When you disable the intro movie you still must wait, but it'll be a plain black screen.

Ah, I see... What happened to the good old trusty loading bar? :|

Finally a fine addition of religion, the system sounds intriguing. I always wanted a organically growing religion, and apparantly you will even be able to rename religions which is cool too. I also look forward to espionage...

More religion, more problems.

Sounds great!

Are you complaining or just making an observation?

Games these days are very expensive, I am very annoyed by this, but when it comes to games like Civ or Sim City, I am more than willing to pay the price.

Not trying to nitpick, but games have actually become cheaper over the last 25 years, though they are beginning to creep back up again.

The 50/60 dollar price point on new games is nice when compared to the 80/100 dollar prices of the late 80s and early 90s.

You could be right, and also I remember a discussion about this a while back, but maybe its related to the fact that im living on my own and 60 bucks are now a nice set of food and other supplies, while before 60 bucks were money to spend on fun things...

I am of the belief that expansion packs and DLC should be far cheaper than the base game itself.

For instance, I'm not going to buy $400 worth of expansions to have a full Sims 3. Some other people might be willing to support EA that business practice like that. I think it's  fairly disrespectful to the customer.

At least this isn't as much of an extreme example. While it was on a steam sale, I got the game and all the DLC for cheaper than the game price is normally. That was worth it to me. But this expansion will have to do some serious additions to essentially cost me the same what I paid for what I already have.

If the DLC is worthwhile I have no problem spending the money. But it has to be good DLC and not horse armor.

That said, Gods & Kings is more of an expansion pack than simple DLC.

Yes. This is very very true and a valid point. I also have this problem. :-[
