It looks interesting. Big fan of old Civ. Though i still think SMACX is the best civ game there ever was.

Wagering my favourite civ Gilgamesh/Sumeria won't make the initial cut. =(
I was reading another forum about this and they're already arguing about Hitler. At any rate who do you think will be in the initial version? Washington/America and Von Bismarck/Germany seem confirmed, but they're obvious choices.

Whoever they pick, I hope they have Zara Yaqob (Ethiopia) or someone like him. The Creative/Organized combination is my own personal Jesus.

Also Obama obviously has to be in.

Well there lots of great German commanders really. Frederick Barbarossa and Frederick II of Prussia are some well know German Leaders. Or why not Wilhelm the Great? Even Wilhelm II would be interesting choice.

I HATE that guy! HATE HATE HATE HATE! (Yaqob, not Obama) He always expands out to some massive degree, goes theocracy, then sends a million spies into my territory and ruins everything even if i'm on great terms with him.

Also I heard something about they won't use living leaders in the game. Don't know if that's true or not but it seems reasonable, and aside that I wouldn't put Obama on the same level as Lincoln or Charlemagne, popular as he is.

Oh! They need to reinstate the Babylonian Empire. Before Civ IV, they were my people!

They could have Nebuchadnezzar alongside Hammurabi. Civs with single leaders always bothered me, though it's probably excusable in Sumeria's case given how old it is.

I hope they don't get lazy and reuse leaders from previous games when most countries have a really big selection to choose from.

England could have Alfred the Great, Henry V, Henry VII, Henry VIII, Charles II, George III

All pretty successful monarchs who ahven't been featured in a civ game before as far as I know.
Sam is basically right, he's just cranky.

I really hope that they get a 2nd leader for Japan since they seem dead set on keeping Tokugawa in there. At least bring along someone who is a little more willing to negotiate.

Should be interesting to see all the changes though. I was hoping for a few things, such as multi-tile cities, conquering territory with units during wartime (actually there was a lot of thought that I put into this), and a more in-depth diplomacy, which I know they are changing. Really looking forward to this game although I have a feeling it will be pushed back into 2011 since that seems to be the trend with all of these games.

Can't think of any other well-known japanese leaders other than Hirohito and I don't exactly think he fits the bill of "willing to negotiate"...

I was actually thinking of Meiji as well. That would be a good choice. It would be cool to see some more diverse demographics as well, but that could be harder to implement. But I've also wanted the ability to ship food between cities. That way, you can really create a giant metropolis with a huge population thanks to several farming cities and coastal fishing settlements. It doesn't make sense that a city is limited by the immediate area surrounding it.
