Gaming Steve Toy Project
« on: January 31, 2010, 07:43:35 pm »
Clearly I don't have the toy making skills and resources, but these folks do.

What I've wanted to try is submit a toy design to these guys. I'd figure we make something simple and cool. Now we can do many things, but I want to take a route that I know will yield more votes and popularity. Something that is generally appealing to everyone, adults, kids, teens, old farts. Or something that the community will want as a whole. But here's the catch.

It must be original. Something unique. A product or trademark that is more than just an animal or person. It needs to be our own intellectual property.

Now Gauphastus mentioned I could submit my blue Gecko persona, but I doubt everyone in the forum would even want a plushie of yours truly. That's just me. But something you either want to hug, display on your bookcase, whatever may appeal to you. But I'm hoping to challenge myself in designing and perfecting something you guys want to buy.

Now I want as much input on this as I can. Think of this as an official Gaming Steve collector's souvenir.

Hmm, good question.  Are you talking more of a collector's figure that doesn't really do much or more like something kids would play around with?

Either or. Depends on how you guys want it used. I vote plushie since it is more versatile.

I'll make a poll for that.

Probably plushie. I think you're on to something big, Gec.

Here's a possible candidate. Try going back into gaming steve history and find something that we made.

I wholeheartedly agree.

We could have a pullstring off the jetpack with a ton of prerecorded phrases or something too.

I would definately buy one.
It would be cool if we had some toys of our Creatures. Yeah yeah, I know this isn't related to the Spore RP or CC, but still, I'd kill to have an action figure-type thing with the armor and plasma rifle, put it on display, or use it and a few others to make a movie ala Arby 'n' The Cheif. That'd be boss!  ;D

Wait...are we kinda just brainstorming our own prefrences or is this for one whole toy representative of the whole forum?

It could, yeah. :)
If we're going with plush though, maybe he should be drawn in a more neutral pose, since this one wouldn't work that well as a plushie, I think. He'd be awesome as a figurine though.

Of course figurine. The smoke would serve as a stand.

I agree that it may not be entirely symbolic of GS, but I would still buy that!

I also think that would work better as a figure than a plushie- like the castle crasher figures.
Hell, Skyward Descent is pure win!

I'll try to see if I can do both. Figurine will look more realistic whereas the plushie more cartoony.

Hey guys, if you have any other ideas for a toy or some other accessory, go ahead an use this thread and submit your own idea. I think we all can make some sort of collection.

Yes.  This seems like an agreeable idea.  Perhaps if we could design a small diorama thing of the Ravens or something along those lines.
