That man is to comedy what the beach boys are for music.

Is that suppose to be a compliment or an insult? You really make these things clearer.
That's what I thought.

It's a compliment. As in, the seemingly cool college beach guy.

Not only is it a compliment, it's a compliment of the highest order. The Beach Boys are one of the finest groups to grace the world of music.

Satirical.

That's the category you would put comedians like Dave Chappelle in, right?
If you stop and think about it, Your life's longer as an old guy than a kid. Scary o.o

Chappelle does seem like a satirical comedian, from what I've seen.

But here's an example of satire at the more "sophisticated" end of the satire spectrum, as in, he's out there verbally punching politicians in the gut:

I hadn't heard about Moran until he was posted in the youtube bonanza, and I just spent about an hour watching clips of him. Such a terrific comedian!

Mitch Hedberg's supershy act is kind of sad now that he's dead, but still hilarious. "I used to do drugs. I still do, but I used to, too."

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggOdTarlYWY" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggOdTarlYWY</a>

Having heard Mitch Hedberg live, I had to cringe. He is funny, but what you see on youtube or Comedy Central is 'the best of the best'. Live, maybe 1-in-10 things he said was even remotely funny, it was actually kind of sad. My friend who went to the later showing that night said he was so messed up that he couldn't finish half his jokes.

Some mainstream comedians were far better in stand up rather than any TV show you might have seen them on. Christopher Titus is a great example. They gave this guy a sitcom and it was poor. Even his televised stand-up shows were only 'good'. But if you saw him live, man, that guy could play, and kill, a crowd. I saw him live one night and after 15 minutes the crowd had stopped laughing, not because he wasn't funny, but because we were all exhausted from laughing. Here is a snippet of his humor, but it still pales to the stuff he did in person.

All comedians are funnier live. I saw Michael McIntyre on the Tv a few times and thought he wasn't as funny as everyone made out him to be. But when I saw him live in Wembley he had me in stiches, I could barely stay on the seat.

Comedy Central did one of those back in 2004:
http://www.listology.com/list/comedy-central-100-greatest-standups-all-time
Mind you I would have put Janeane Garofalo a bit higher up than 99th place, but it has a bunch of great names on it.
What meme is relevant right now? Look, just imagine I'm riffing on that. Updating signatures is exhausting.

Shappi, Dara, Bill, Billy, Ricky, Ed, Jack Dee and Paul Merton are all on my voting list of... votingness?

Some of my favorite Comedians.

Rodney Dangerfield:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbTKEZE_O5Q" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbTKEZE_O5Q</a> - Sorry it is out of sync, but it's still awesome.

Frank Caliendo:

Dana Carvey:

Stephen Lynch:

Bobcat Goldthwait:

Lewis Black:
Nearly nothing he does is safe for work... this especially (ie NSFW)

Norm MacDonald (By far one of the oddest comics you'll ever see. He's more of a comedian's comedian. Awkward but very funny.):
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLkdSDAw1gU" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLkdSDAw1gU</a>

Then there are the really obvious ones like Robin Williams and so many more, so i should probably stop here. >.>
