Spore online
« on: March 16, 2005, 01:58:35 pm »
Hi i am new to the forums and really pumped about Spore,

I read over on another forum that some people think Spore may be Pay to Play and i doubt that will be the case here is my theory.

Wright and EA will want the mass appeal and crowd from casual sims gamers to come over to play

and probbably the biggest factor is that most persistant worlds or MMO's need a fee in order to support the large number of files and characters and clients and keep their servers running. but with Wright and his coders making files 1kb for each creatures basic description (or information that the game can then generate) it seems the file sizes will save a ton of space and money for EA

I got my name from a computer monitor

I do not think that Spore will be pay to play. It will work more like The Sims 2 in that it is a standalone game which has a ton of content you can download.

I will talk about this more in my next podcast...

I don't think it will be pay to play either. It will mostly be downloadable content from the Spore website or other fansites.  ;D

If (if) Spore ever took the PVP route. I would start a protest with picket signs in front of EA's evil headquarters.

I'm new as well and totally agree with what is being said here. It would be cool to have other people's creations visit your burgeoning little world.
