The Core Combine First Contact War

Felron, Core Combine central command, War Hall


        The War Hall of Felron was quite a large structure but even then most of its true facilities, the ones that handled the important duties where all buried deep underground, heck the war hall could easily be mistaken for just one gigantic bomb shelter, just like the rest of Felron's cities and buildings, its first purpose was for the military. Inside the war hall was a large circular room and it seem to extend for miles… downward (basically think the Star Wars Galatic Republic meeting area with all the floating stands) in it a lone Skrall on a gravity throne floated in, unexpectedly the war hall was completely empty, indeed eversince the advancements in the Hive Network actual physical meetings where not truly necessary, if anything this particular Skrall’s visit to the war hall was a formality at most, but it did not decrease his importance his name was Cragar and he was a speaker… a speaker for the rulers of the Skrall

A speaker for the Overlords themselves…

Whenever Cragar spoke everyone better damn well listen, his words where the words of the Overlords, and to defy them was to die… The Overlords where rather mysterious beings, no Skrall save for a speaker was aloud to enter their inner sanctum, which contrary to popular belief was not on Felron, infact even Cragar nor any other speaker actually knew where the Overlords where truly located, he had used the “portal”, the strange device that led into the Overlords personal sanctum a few times to speak with them but he was never told where he was, only to listen and relay the information and orders to the Core Combine, none of this was his concern however, the minute he was born into the universe he was to do what he was meant to do not  question why.

Cragar then concentrated, immersing himself into the massive communication system known as the hive network, and when his presence was felt silence ensued, the Skrall turning a portion of their super computer like minds to him, all while continuing other tasks such as harvesting resources or expanding the Combine.

//Denizens of the Core Combine… the third great expansion has come, many many worlds have been taken during our time among the stars... But as always the Overlords demand more! However this should not come as a surprise to any of us now should it? But there are matters of greater importance the Overlords informed me of recently promoted High Warlord Ragaran as well as Vokonar’s expansion operation, as you know Warlord Ragaran pulled out, but not out of cowerdice, I personally contacted him as it was the Overlords wish that he retreat. Denizens of the Core Combine we have fought and conquered many civilizations, at least in our corner of the galaxy, but the war that is now coming, will be far greater than any other... and our new enemy who DARES stand against our quest of expansion and conquest will not find us unprepared.

Make no mistake, these creatures are coming… and when they warp out of the dark abyss and enter our home, they will know the true meaning of terror! They will find no rest, no dark corner will be safe, we will lash out from every direction, and we shall send their soldiers back to them in body bags, and their weapons in rusted scrap piles! And the  these creatures will know the price of interfering with the Core Combine!//

With that little speech of pride and emotion, Cragan became all business, he remained immersed in the Hive Network in order to ascertain the status of the Core Combine and its battle readiness the Overlords would want a report…

//Status?!// The response was almost instant

//All Battle Fleets on alert and ready…//
//Raider Fleets equipped!//
//Swarm Fleets  ready for combat!//
//All slave armies equipped and ready!//
//Soldier Units Ready!//

This response was of course expected, where was never a time the Core Combine was not in a state of militarization, 24/7 the Core was producing military supplies and harvesting resources for its endless crusade in the name of expansion,.

"These creatures very likely think us light hearted and weak…" Cragar thought to himself

But they have no idea what we are capable of…

Core Combine Provinces

The minute Cragan finished his little speech, the entire Core Combine kicked it into overdrive, the Hive Network suddenly came alive with activity, with battleplans being discussed, exchanged, and finalized, orders for more slaves, soldiers, and ships to be added to their already impressive arsenal where going left and right, luckily the biofactories for now  where capable of keeping up with such a high demand. Indeed whoever these meddling creatures where, if they wanted war the Core Combine was more than willing to give it to them a thousand times over.

Enna Miq, the Perrachi Chief of Patrol Services, stood up from her seat at the table in the War Room. Also seated around the table were Director Hatena Rolu, Deputy Director Fĺnajusi, Chief of Counter-Terrorism Kurheac, Chief of Operations Valgu-110, and Chief of Internal Affairs Kar'vhix, as well as the heads of state of the various member states of the GPA, including Chief Random Elect Zhukop of the Milika Lotterial Government, President Dimikos Talin of the PSR, and High Chancellor Sheth Tallar of the UGP. Now that I'm done listing names, let's see what Chief Miq has to say.

"People, we are now at war. As you well know, a peaceful Graid vessel was attacked without provocation some days ago by several ships of the race known as the Core Combine. They have advanced weaponry and are a foe to be reckoned with, though our military outnumbers theirs. Intelligence reports have revealed that the Core Combine has taken our defending of the Graid vessel as a declaration of war, and are already mobilizing their forces. The reports also show that there is a key Combine stronghold planet on the edge of their territory that we could easily take over and use as a base to attack other Combine planets. Although an battle plan has been created by our top military strategists, the specifications and strength of our military will depend on how much you are willing to contribute. What say you, heads of state?"

President Talin of the PSR spoke.

"All the forces of the Perrachi Socialist Republic will be willing to join this war. We do not have as many starfighters as other nations but our 4.72-kilometer-long Battlecruisers will prove to be a great asset, especially in the orbital bombardment of Core Combine planets. The Battlecruisers are armed with several hundred laser cannons and railguns, as well as four Orbital Nuclear Missile Launchers, or ONMLs." He pronounced it on-mills. "I have thoroughly reviewed this situation and assure you that PSR forces will defend and fight, minimizing GPA casualties while maximizing those of the Core Combine."

Enna turned to the other leaders and Chiefs. "Is there anything anyone else wishes to say?"

kureak replied, dryly, "though we would much like to contribute to the 'war', we are unable to supply ships at this time. I hope you understand" he said, with a bit of chargrin.

"however, we can easily supply ground fighters and guards for vessels, should the need come. we studied their method of controlling their people( through the captured soldier). we believe it would be a bit more difficult for our people to be affected, due to our external bodies...biology, or lack thereof"

"I cannot guarantee the Milika's help.  The Supara decimated our forces, and our most powerful ship, the Hukuopo, is still being repaired.  Ju has much surface damage, and it's amazing that I live after they attacked the capital city.  We still have smaller command ships, but they do not have working Atom Breakers.  If you want those, you'd have to go through the Vykusi, but they have withdrawn unto themselves to deal with the uprising of this 'Agents of Wi,' so they might not have a working government by the time you could contact them.  Also, due to the loses in the war, I no longer have the full confidence of the Legitematly Elected Assembly, so to pass a declaration of war will not be a very easy task.  I would require an outside voice to speak to them, so that they will know that the danger is very real."

A Photos commander stood.
"If I may, our armada has been experiencing a dry spell, as the Shadow have been quite inactive as of late, so I can throw a large chunk of ships towards the Core Combine. We could strike before the main attack and soften up the defenses so the larger ships won't be in as high a danger zone. Our dreadnoughts are expendable in the large scale. A Juggernaught isn't." He said.

Miq looked disappointed. She then turned to the Photos commander and spoke.

"That is good news. Now then-" She looked in the general direction of the others in the War Room. "-the central GPA computer network is able to gather the information you have given and create a new strategy for an attack on the Core Combine. Its quantum processes should take a few millionths of a second to do so. Computer, create a new attack plan."

Instantly, the holographs in the table's center changed to show different images. "Assuming that a declaration of war will be passed by the Photos council, the computer has taken into account all available information on our combined fleet. Seen here are the Core Combine fortress worlds." A few stars in the 3-D map lit up from white to red. "Intelligence has reported that these systems are heavily guarded, populated and likely terraformed, but the majority of their systems are lightly armed. In this strategy, several fleets of combined GPA forces led by Orealyianis or Photos if the latter's forces have not mobilized yet will strike at the secondary systems. We will use them as bases for launching attacks against the fortress worlds, led by PSR Battlecruisers. Once the orbital defenses are dealt with, ground and air forces will be deployed to seek out any victims of Core Combine oppression. When they are liberated, PSR Battlecruisers will sterilize the planet with ONMLs, assuming that the GPA War Council agrees on that. If not, extensive planetary campaigns will be held to put up a GPA base in the system. The first method would be much shorter, cheaper, and less deadly, but I am not attempting to be biased here."

"Remember that if there is reason for it, our war plan will change from a policy of containment to one of destroying the Core Combine. Are there any questions?"

"Just one. We have a prototype weapon, codenamed the SystemShock, that is just DYING to be field tested. It's a massive EMP Bomb  that is designed to take out every ounce of unshielded electronics in a system. We could, say, field test it on one of the Core Combine's fortress systems. With all unshielded electronics fried, we would have a much easier time. Just need your approval."

"I should point out that EMP fields are also generated by nuclear weapons, which the PSR happens to have in staggering numbers. An orbital nuclear EMP assault would be quicker than the System Shock and more efficient, and is also an option in our strategy. I'm afraid I must turn down your request. Also, are there any comments on humanitarian aid for after the war?"

The chief's eyes emitted a slightly more intense glow than usual as they began to project an image depicting the aftermath of a certain conflict from a time long past.

"It took some time, but I was able to recover a small cache of visual records from a past conflict known to most older civilizations as the "Communicant War". Many might remember during their Galactic History that the conflict was between the denizens of our galaxy, and the extragalactic Communicant Empire. To cut the long story short, the enemy's leader disappeared during the final chapters of the conflict, and his army, which was under mind-control the entire time, was left solely to themselves. The galactic community, which became the eventual victors, attempted to remove the mind-manipulating devices from the creatures. Unfortunately, the lack of source data led to, quite a large number of, losses."

The projection disappeared as the chief's eyes returned to their normal shade.

"We can't allow them to purge their documents if it ever comes to a situation where they are motivated to do so."

They could fire into the ship clusters, which would destroy most ships and leave the others as easy targets."

"That is certainly an option, but a last-resort one. Our first priority is securing the central data base on the Core Combine's central planet of operations. The strategy of taking out the homeworld is a sound one, and it could result in a massive loss of troops for the Core Combine as well as possible rebellions and a lack of leadership. Are we all in agreement on this plan?"

"Aye," announced Talin.

Front line Base World A147

When the Core Combine kicked it into overdrive, they REALLY kicked it into overdrive, the usual 24/7 schedule of production had doubled, making biofactories churn out weapons, ships, and soldiers like a drunk threw up. The Core Combine was also focusing on fortifying Front Line Base World A147 as well as others which were calculated as likely targets to be attacked, A147 was one of the largest and most occupied bases the Core had on their front lines and Vakna, the Overseer of the base was insuring that it would not fall and indeed it was by no means easy prey, having quite the collection of orbital defenses as well as battle stations gave it a good defensive position. In preparation for the war the Core Combine had dug in deep, below the ground of A147 was a large series of bunkers and military factories, all that would be mostly protected from the war that would most likely happen above, they would also be prepared if the enemy attempted a ground assault. A147 was a pretty important planet, it was a key instillation along with others in the Core Combines front line support, if they could keep it operational their forces would have a rallying point and a position from which to give aid to any border worlds attacked.

Core Combine Border Worlds

Just like A147, as well as the fortress worlds, the Core Combines border worlds where also fortifying themselves for the upcoming offensive, however the Core knew very well they would not hold up forever, in that case their purpose was to attempt to wear the enemy down, soften up the attack force so that the fortress worlds will be ready for them even though the fortress worlds had substantial defenses already but  every little bit helped, basically if they could not claim victory they would at least make their best effort to slow them down.


Felron, War Hall, entrance room to the “portal”

Cragar had been wandering the war hall for quite some time now, he was now rushing as fast as his gravity throne could take him when he was informed of an arrival from the portal… no one but a speaker ever came out of the portal and there where currently no speakers in there as far as he was concerned, so who the heck was coming out? Surely not an Overlord! A couple of minutes later he reached the entrance to the room that led to the portal, the large armored blast door that looked like it could take a nuclear bomb and still hold up slowly began to open, but instead of the device that was the “portal” that usually entered his vision first it was a massive machine… A large Skrall in battle armor, Cragar had heard that some Skrall commanders where giving into to their more blood thirsty side, field commanders especially, thus the Core Combine had designed mecha battle armor that would suit a Skrall perfectly, allowing them to fight for themselves if things got ugly. Upon closer inspection Cragar realized who he was looking at…

Perrachi Socialist Republic, Dalora System, Romacea, High Orbit

The USS Carasillo orbited high above the green world. Romacea was a central base for the PSR in the military and cultural sense, as it was one of the few planets with actual life on it, albeit immobile plants. All water was underground, giving the planet the appearance of a green marble. That's what Captain Shiraz Montapec thought as he gazed out of the bridge windows. He recalled being appointed Captain of the newly commissioned ship just two weeks ago and stopping to come aboard the Carasillo at a moon of Abielviny, the further out gas giant in the two-planet system. Dalora was a red dwarf star, so it naturally had even less planets than Nupis. Romacea was a cold world, and for the first time Perrachi factories were spewing out greenhouse gases, but this time deliberately. The planet would be warm enough to walk on in 30 years, said the scientists. They also claimed they would alter the Romacean plant life to adapt to the warmer climate. Captain Montapec couldn't care less, seeing as how he would be on this ship for a long time in the cold vacuum of space.

The doors opened behind him, and he swiveled his seat around to face the officer. He was a Bino, the stripes giving away his gender. Reading the ensign, Shiraz understood the Bino's high rank. The officer strolled over and shook his wing, a friendly gesture in Bino society.

"Good day to you, Captain. I am Lieutenant Gikhel Stravyut. I will be your second-in-command aboard this ship."

"Hello to you too. What are you doing in the PSR Starfleet instead of being back home?"

"I find the United Federation of the Bino to be too right-wing."

"The only person who could say that with a straight beak is a communist. You joined the Communist Party, didn't you? I can tell by your monotone voice."

"Well, yes. I think that the PSR military is lacking with its non-egalitarian military."

"Get used to it, we're living in a world controlled by the socialists, not by the commies. Say, isn't the rest of the crew coming aboard this Battlecruiser soon?"

"Yes sir, I just wished to get a head start."

"Take your seat over there, we'll be launching soon and with more than a skeleton crew to boot."

Even though the PSR Starfleet had no function beyond patrol duties, Captain Montapec couldn't shake the feeling that he was soon at last going to see some real action, and not just against pirates...

Kotev System, Interplanetary Space
Photos Commander Ki'una stood in the command bridge of the flagship of his task force, the P.S. Litany. His task force was preparing to assault the Core Combine, as the plan had discussed. The plan was relatively simple. Move into an outer system and defeat the defense ships throughout the system, then drop troops and tanks in on occupied planets to capture all facilities. Luckily, Photos infantry armour is a closed unit, so the Spores are inneffective so long as the armour isn't penetrated. They had a number of shuttles and pods for deploying ground forces. A colonel stepped in from the transit elevator that led to the tower bridge. Ki'una turned to face him.
"So...any news as to when to begin the assault? Our troops are a bit...how do I put it... anxious?" Ki'una asked.
"None yet, Commander. Though I agree, the troopers are anxious. A little too anxious. This is unusual. I've never seen our soldiers with such a...a bloodlust..."The colonel stated.
"Yes, this is unusual. But constant conflict with the Shadow has put many of our soldiers on edge.And we've seen so little battle compared to other Task Forces. I'd hate to see High Commander Val'ones' troops. But we have a while before the order comes, and the troopers are enjoying the time off. We have to remain vigilant for that command..." Ki'una said. The colonel merely nodded...

USS Carasillo, Bridge

"They what?"

Captain Montapec stared in disbelief at the holograph of Admiral Fa'ainu. Several weeks had passed since the commissioning, and the bridge was now full of chief officers, all gaping at the Admiral's statement.

"You heard me, Captain. The United Society and the GPA have declared all-out war, and you're going to the northwest Core Rim."

"But who exactly are we fighting, Admiral?"

"That's what I called to inform you of. Recently, a newly discovered race known as the Core Combine attacked a weaker, less advanced species called the Graid. Some GPA forces fought them off, but now they're mobilizing their forces for war. I'm sending some files on their weaponry to your ship computer, as well as the attack plans you have been ordered to execute. We are expecting you as well as all other commissioned PSR units to be at the following coordinates in two Perrawiih weeks. Over and out."

The coordinates appeared on the front screen, and Montapec studied them, muttering to himself about sixteen days.

"Hm... Officer, fire up the hyperdrive and set course for those coordinates immediately. Computer, bring up those files for me."

"Aye, Captain."

"Aye aye, sir."

The flat holograms lit up in front of him and a humming could be heard as levers were pulled and buttons were pushed, activating the intricate device within the heart of the massive starship. In eleven seconds, a bright white light appeared on the front viewscreen and opened up into a gargantuan tunnel, swallowing the ship into a black void. The Carasillo was on its way to the war.



Fourteen days later...

The familiar bright tunnel appeared once again in front of Shiraz, though now it was hurtful to his eyes, the computer having rudely awoken him from a deep slumber an hour before. His eyes were streaked with blue bloodshot lines, and a cup of kopi bean juice (more commonly known as kopa) sat at his side, caffeinated fumes rising from it and being whisked into the air scrubbers.

As he raised the mug to his beak and felt the warm indigo beverage reach his tongue, he suddenly sat up in surprise and nearly choked on it as the magnificent sight unfolded before him. So many Battlecruisers, and the countless starfighters flying in formation, and the swirling orange clouds of the gas giant beneath them, and...

"Captain Montapec!"

"GAAAHH!"

Shiraz yelled in surprise, his drink knocking over and spilling to the floor. A small disc-shaped robot scooted along hurriedly to clean the mess up, but it went unnoticed to the Captain, his eyes fixed on the sudden holograph of Admiral Fa'ainu.

"What - what are you doing, Admiral?!"

"Checking on your status, as procedure demands. It appears that your Battlecruiser is in prime condition."

"Alright, alright, Hrrrmmfghff... Then, ah, what orders have you to relay?"

"Join your position with the other starships and exercise your crew. Have the fighters fly around, that sort of thing. We need to be fully prepared for the invasion in two days. I'm sending orders for your computer, and you can take a breather for the while and study up on military tactics. We are going to win this war, and don't you forget that. Over and out."

"Over and all that, all right. Officers, I'm going down to the bar for some more kopa. The computer is relieving us of our duties for the time being, but this isn't a vacation. Try and train yourselves, be ready for battle, all that crap. Goodbye."

He stepped into the elevator, and the doors slid shut as it zoomed off throughout the colossal starship.

Meanwhile, all weapons systems were in perfect shape. Every laser, every missile, and all four ONMLs were ready for battle. Destruction would soon rain down upon the Core Combine.
I came, I saw, I went back to bed.

Commander Ki'una opened a channel to all ships in the fleet, including the new arrivals in the PSR.
"All ships, we have a new arrival coming in. Please welcome-" He paused for a moment as a titanic spacecraft dropped out of warp."The P.S. Hyvez. A new class, a Superjuggernaut, of sorts, fresh out of assembly. This behemoth is armed and amoured to the teeth. This ship will be able to take the brunt of the Core Combine assault." He said.
"P.S. Hyvez, reporting for orders,sir!" Said the captain of the massive craft over the fleet channel. The ship dwarfed the other Posideon-class Dreadnoughts present, and was 2.6 kilometers long, 1.8 kilometers wide at it's widest. It was armed with countless quad dark plasma turrets, and featured an updated version of the Anti-matter Cannon that had been mounted on the Pride before it was lost in the Novus Cluster.

Orealyianis Monarchy First Fleet, Vara Orealyianis, Main Bridge

"Good morning, everyone!", a familiar figure yelled as a large gate opened to reveal the main bridge. Everyone cheered in agreement as they saluted him.

It took a while, but the Orealyianis flagship was finally back to it's full potential since it suffered borderline fatal damage during the onslaught that was the GPA offensive of Supar. Regardless of it's past condition, the vessel was now stronger than ever, with the entire craft having been renovated to meet the current galactic standard specifications.

//It's nice to have you back...//, the ship's AI said to the highly decorated Orealytianis officer as the captain's station gave way for his entry.

//... Admiral Shanara.//

"Same here.", he nodded while flipping open his fold bracelet and taking out a small bead-like object. He threw it into the air as it disintegrated into a small translucent cloud which revealed an image of the latest version of the galactic map.

//And our destination?//

"Third star to the right and straight on til' evening!"

Ki'una sat in his room on the ship, looking over several data pads full of battle strategies. There was a knock on the door.
"Come in!" He said. The door slid open, revealing the colonel that was back in the bridge earlier. His name was Va'kos, and he was actually a good friend of the commander. He had a tray of food for his friend, who had throughly missed the dinner hour.
"So, going over the battle strategems?" He asked. All he got was a slight nod. He looked over the notes Ki'una had written to himself.
"Uh, commander? The notes you have here...they say of a sneak attack on the main Core Combine planet. You are aware that is a direct breach of our given orders, correct?" He asked, clearing some room on the overburdened desk for the tray.
"My friend," Ki'una finally looking up and giving him actual attention,"you don't win a war by following orders to the letter. War is an evolving situation, and plans need to change and evolve to keep up with the shift. They said a direct attack on the primary world was suicide. But I have a plan that would let us through, just nobody believes us. Nobody thinks that we Photos have much ability. But that's where they're wrong." He said.
"What do you have planned?"
"We're gonna sneak in, bombard the H.Q., then when we punch hole in the building, we're gonna drop a pod right into the hole!" He said.
"Are you nuts!?! That's a one-in-a-million shot. The spot you'd have to aim in alone is unthinkable, I don't know if our computer is able to aim that precisely." Vakos said, stunned.

Core Combine Provinces

They where nearly done, each world fortified as much as it could be, every fleet, every ship they had was mustered and still more where on the way, these creatures would soon face an enemy that did not understand the concepts of peace or mercy… To the Core Combine war was the center of life, it was life. No world was without a military presence, thus technically it was impossible to call any Combine world unguarded all of them had only different levels of defenses.

Felron, Super Dreadnaught Arachnash

Upon the Dreadnaughts Bridge Supreme Commander Scranash, or when translated to galactic basic, Supreme Commander Scourge, stood upon the Arachnash’s bridge, a dreadnaught was indeed a large ship… a super dreadnaught was just a plain big monster, each super dreadnaught was named after a different race’s translation of “Armageddon” or “apocalypse” the Core was known to sometimes adapt certain aspects of a race into its self.

Scourge for the longest time had been working his super computer of a brain into creating countless strategies should Felron be attacked, it was the center of the Core Combine and must be defended at all costs, rumor even had that this foe may actually have to be negotiated with, disgusting. No matter what however Scourge’s goal was clear: The defense of Felron and after which driving the invaders out of Core Combine space as well as the build up for a counter attack. And if things got really bad the fortress worlds if still intact would be able to send reinforcements.

Equipment and fire power where the least of his concerns, with the countless defense platforms and ships even orbital shields here there was no chance of the enemy taking Felron off guard, as of now they were as prepared as they could be.

Ki'una had ordered to disable the warp drive just in orbit of the planet, a risky move, sure, but it lowered their exposure to enemy fire. When they came out, they targeted the HQ with the turrets on the bottom of the ship, leaving the ones on the top to return fire. They just needed one penetrating hit, just one large enough to sink the plow end of a planetary drop pod into. Then they could their little plan to action. He was worried, even as they came into orbit, as to what the GPA's reaction to his unorthidox little plan would be...

Meanwhile...

A large shower of allied signatures plastered nearby sensors as the Orealyianis Interstellar Navy's First Fleet arrived at the point of meeting.

The Vara Orealyianis' two massive arms, which were large enough to be called war-vessels in their own right, lead the way as the entire body of the flagship pulled itself back into normal space.

Frigates, destroyers and all other manners of vessels of every class imaginable quickly followed suit, adding to the bulk of the already visible shadow above the gas giant's upper atmosphere.

As Anti-Combine Coalition forces continued to trickle into the system, the vast amalgam of various war-crafts from all manners of member civilizations quickly made it clear that what everyone was doing here wasn't just any frivolous exercise of massive military power.

This was war.



Vara Orealyianis, Main Bridge

"Aaaaaaaaaaaand it's time to take a break...", Shanara waved to several of his subordinates, signaling them to take over for him while he's out.



Vara Orealyianis, Shopping Center, Food Court

"The flavor just never ceases to amaze me!", the admiral said while taking a large bite out of his meal. "Ah, Choro Deidalus Toast! They say the Choro Deidalus aren't just devoted practitioners of science, but also vanguards of the art of baking!"

After finishing his meal, he leaned back on his chair, exhausted. He's been working way overtime for the past few months. Ever since the previous war, he's been busy lending a hand in reorganizing the many casualty-induced gaps in the military, not to mention assisting in the necessary arrangements for the confirmation ceremony of his brother's rise to the throne, which was by now only a relatively short time away.

"Well, no use complaining...", he thought to himself. "Can't let everyone down, now can I?"

Captain Montapec stepped onto the packed bridge. Every officer was busy, typing or speaking or doing who-knows-what. Hologram screens were popped up everywhere, being tapped by feathers and fingers to activate various commands. The Captain sat down in his seat and called out to the crew.

"Attention, all personnel. I have just received orders from the GPA High Command to initiate the attack. Man all battle stations and hope we live to see our families back home."

Montapec looked on as the the massive Orealyianis flagship directly in front of the Carasillo lurched forward towards the direction of the Core Combine planet deeper inside the system. One last glance at the beautiful orange planet below, and...

They were off. Every ship activated their hyperdrive, warp drive, or whatever else they had and zoomed off to the planet.



In a matter of seconds the mighty armada appeared in a flash near the industrial sphere, and the Combine wasted no time in launching their attack. Several comparatively small battleships zoomed towards the colossal red ship, and its captain knew they were no match.

"Concentrate all Battle Deck 7 and 12 laser fire on those ships."

"Aye, sir."

In a moment, brilliant red beams of light streaked out of the dozens of guns aimed upon the Combine ships. There were so many they seemed to form a red blur, and in less than a second the mighty ships were reduced to molten slag in blossoming orange explosions of metal. However, this was only the beginning of the battle.

"USS Carasillo to Vara Orealyianis. We will attempt to reduce Core Combine defenses to a minimum, and wait for further orders. Captain Montapec out."

Montapec wondered if this would really lead to a nuclear bombing of the planet. Was it worth all those lost lives, or were the Combine simply unnatural and evil? In the meantime, the Carasillo kept up its destruction of Combine forces and split up with the other PSR Battlecruisers to spread the battle.

Within seconds of arriving, the lone Photos dreadnought was under fire. The crew had managed to find the HQ and target it. Purple blasts rained down on the building. Finally, one landed and and melted through the roof.
"That's it! Launch!" Ki'una ordered. From the bottom of the ship, a single pod was launched. It sped off for that single hole punched in the building. On it were five of the best soldiers Commander Ki'una had at his disposal. They landed, their drop pod landing snugly square in the opening, by some miracle. Ki'una let out a relieving sigh when they checked in. They had been on target. But still, there was the issue of the swarms of Core Combine ships surrounding the ship.

Felron

With enemy fleet was now finally showing its self at Felron just as calculations predicted, and indeed Felron was ready…

The Perrachi seemed to have already made their move, and the Photos had tried a pretty risky maneuver… and now it was the Core Combine turn…

The first thing the enemies would notice is that Felron’s energy readings began to sky rocket, then Felron began to practically light up as its massive defense systems began to activate, battle station upon battle station, orbital cannon upon orbital cannon, began to unleash their deadly payload in a combination of lasers, gravity missiles, torpedoes, warheads, and other weapons… And now the enemy fleet had the Core Combines full attention, now the full bulk of the Core Combines battle fleet was beginning to show its self. Countless destroyers, frigates, and battleships began to swarm the enemy fleet, attacking from multiple directions.  A few Perrachi ships also had the unfortunate luck of being targeted by a dreadnaught or battle stations gravity beam, instruments that detected gravity based anomalies went nuts for a split second before the ship began to twist in turn in unnatural directions before being shredded to pieces.

Luckily on the surface where the Photos had fired the “HQ” as they called it was more than likely just a surface structure whos purpose was to act as an entrance to the War hall, which was far underground, the Photos would have to fight their way through if they wanted to get into that…

Felron Surface

The second the Photos got out their pod they may or may not realize that they where not alone…

they were being watched

Suddenly from out of the shadows a Core Combine soldier, who looked much slimmer and less bulkier than his brethren stepped out of active camo before firing a few cheap shots at the Photos than ran back into cover, as soon as he fired more shots came in from multiple directions from soldiers using active camo, the Photos as of now where dealing with the Core Combines elite units, veteran soldiers of multiple conquests… if the Photos were going to send in their best the Core was going to as well…

"What in the name of all the oceans was that?!"

Captain Montapec was awestruck by the Combine's weapons. Whatever had hit his ship had torn up the shields.

"A gravity missile, sir. It has destroyed 36.2% of our lower front shielding, though we are regenerating it as fast as possible."

"One of those things could annihilate a smaller ship. Be on the lookout for any more, and make destroying incoming missiles your top priority! Time to fight fire with fire!"

All lasers were activated, all missiles were launching, and all starfighters were zooming around. Montapec decided to get rid of his biggest problems.

"USS Carasillo to Vara Orealyianis. Requesting permission to activate ONML and destroy planetary target designated as missile launching complex."

"Permission granted to do so."

"Roger that. Carasillo out."

Montapec activated the microphone on his chair and announced, "Attention, all personnel. Activate Orbital Nuclear Missile Launcher Two. Repeat, activate Orbital Nuclear Missile Launcher Two. Designated launching coordinates being sent now. This is not a drill." Blue lights began flashing and sirens blared everywhere on board, signaling the ONML was to be used. Officers scrambled to get to their positions, and the ship and ONML turret both turned towards the direction of the Combine missile launcher far below.

"Payload in position. Activating railgun now. 10... 9... 8... 7... 6... 5... 4... 3... 2... 1... ZERO - "

Incredible speed.

Streaking to the target.

A glowing meteor.

Faster, and-





Blinding white light.



The explosion was astounding, even to the Core Combine. Their nuclear military capabilities paled in comparison to this. Dust could be seen kicked up even from as high in orbit as the GPA forces were. The missiles were no longer launching, but the threat of the Combine still loomed.

On board the Carasillo, there was silence, then cheering. Captain Montapec grinned, then shouted at everybody to get back to work. A thought crossed his mind...

"USS Carasillo to Vara Orealyianis. Requesting permission to use ONMLs on all other major military complexes on Felron. I think this strategy may just work, and perhaps you should suggest it to the other Battlecruisers as well."

"You may have a point. Our ship's quantum computer's logic system suggests it as a good idea. Permission granted and orders sent."

Montapec announced the orders to the crew, and he saw the other Battlecruisers going into position. All four ONMLs aimed, and he knew he would be seeing blue lights a lot more than he thought he would this morning.


Destruction rained down upon Felron, but this only ensured the Core Combine's later vengeance...

Felron Orbit, Coalition Reserve Fleets, Luzonian Knighthood Fifth Fleet, LKS Aguiso, Bridge

As the battle raged on in front, the vessels stationed on reserve constantly kept an eye in the ensuing carnage in Felron's orbit.

Captain Tali looked intently at the bridge's main monitor as the small destroyer-type craft scanned the far off edge of the Combine planet's dust-filled horizon. They were looking for any signs of flanking maneuvers coming from that direction, in hopes of alerting the rest of the fleets and allowing it to be intercepted as early as possible.

The captain, however, wasn't expecting to see what finally turned up on the LKS Aguiso's sensor readings.

"A funky stack of Flueluvu nuggets hanging on top of a flagpole on the uppermost levels of the Royal Palace in Shudariadne during a massive earthquake caused by a barfight between King Axon and the most famous members of the Rise Religion, what was that?!", she said after seeing a vessel of somewhat familiar design orbiting Felron somewhere on the sidelines.

"Contact central command NOW!"



Felron Orbit, Photos Fleet

A top-priority message entered the flagship's inbox.

"I think there's something you'd like to tell us that you haven't told us yet...", it said in the Luzonians' native language, with a Photose translation just below it.

Attached to the message were images taken of Ki'una's formerly clandestine vessel.

"We've sent the same message to all other coalition flagships. Whoever is responsible for this has got A LOT of explaining to do..."

I am responsable. I came up with a plan to strike at the core of the Core Combine military, and I have executed it. I have an elite squad on the planet, inside the HQ. If you are angry, I will accept my punishment gladly if it means we win the war. I-*explosion, Ki'una looks away from the recorder* What in the world was that!?! *vocals in background, looks back at recorder* I'm gonna have to cut it short, the Core Combine are really ticked at us right now. Ki'una, out!'
Ki'una sent the message. He turned.
"Alright, people, damage report!" He ordered. All around him, various operators started reading off status reports. As they read off, he turned his head to the planet below him. "I hope our strike team made it..." He thought to himself.
"OK people, Alpha-pattern maneuver! Optimise shield power to areas of most damage, pull 50% auxiliary power to weapons, let's get these buggers off our case!"He ordered. The lone dreadnought picked off one enemy, then two, then three. For one ship, the Photos were giving the Core Combine one decent run for their money.

Planet Felron, unknown Core Combine structure, presumed to be their Headquarters
"Defensive positions!" Ordered Fre'val, the leader of the Photos squad sent down to Felron. The squad was pinned down about ten feet from the drop pod that had delivered them onto the planet. He fired a grenade from his carbine, which took out a few of the enemy combatants.
"Hy'ven! Lace this hallway with plasma!" He ordered to the heavy weapons specialist of the squad. Hy'ven stepped out, planting his feet and firing his Heavy Plasma Carbine from the hip. The machinegun type weapon fired plasma blasts very fast, and within a short time, almost three dozen dead Core Combine troopers lay sprawled out on the floor.

Whatever the Perrachi where probably expecting… they didn’t get it… if they were expecting cries for mercy… they didn’t get it… if they were expecting a pitiful surrender… they didn’t get it… If they were expecting a large mouthful of rail gun, gravity missiles, and every other weapon the Core Combine ships had at their disposal all with a nice dose of hatred… then they got more than enough of that…

Felron’s surface, its underground was devastated by Perrachi bombardment. The loss of Felron was indeed greatly felt… any race would have likely been morally devastated by the loss of a homeworld… but not the Core Combine, they were incapable of such emotions, instead all it did inspire hatred…

Indeed… they would pay dearly for this..

Planet Felron, unknown Core Combine structure, presumed to be their Headquarters

With each soldier the Photos seem to take out five more seem to take his place, more and more of the Core Combines elite forces began to step out of active camo, ambushing the Photos squad where ever it went, and this time they were beginning to see a bit more variety in their soldiers, a large amount of rubble suddenly burst, revealing a massive Core Combine monster about the size of rancor and it was hefting a big fuel rod cannon… it then fired…

Felron Orbit

As said before… the Core Combine did not even flinch at the Perrachi’s power… fear was an emotion they were not truly capable of feeling, in fact, now finally they had a target to focus on, so far the Perrachi battle cruisers where proving the biggest threat with their OMNL’s so the Combine ships primarily focused on them, most specifically, they aimed their weapons at the massive rail gun turrents, which stuck out like sore thumbs making them easy to individually target, first they would take out its deadliest weapon, then they would take out the ship its self…

Multiple special disruptions could be detected as Core Combine reinforcements began to appear from other sections of space, they were attempting to flank the Perrachi ships and hit them from behind a second group split off as well to flank the other side….

Several detachments from the coalition's reserve fleets quickly sprang into action.

The flankers promptly encountered an extremely warm welcome.

The Orealyianis' frigates and destroyers plastered the Combine with a massive array of SEACESSV cannons and MLMs. Elsewhere, phase ships, each with a compliment of infiltrators, started picking off the more dug in components of the enemy's fleets. At the rear of the detachments, the carriers began pumping out large volumes of variable armors of every kind, all the while unleashing their own wave of fury.

The Luzonian, Marakiri and Chivi detachments also proceeded to rain down punishment over the Combine assailants. The three's warvessels released salvos upon salvos of high-reaction missiles towards the enemy as their main plasma cannons hurled massive chunks of super-heated material straight towards the more hardier battleships. Their variable armors, on the other hand, took to the battle with a more hands-on approach, fighting alongside the Chivi's space armors and the Marakiri's high-maneuverability fighters as they hacked and shot their way towards the hostile formations.

The Choro Deidalus forces took a more auxiliary role as they provided fire support for the main defenders, all the while recording the fight for more intensive analysis back at home.

The Atomna's otherworldly way of battle quickly began to show as multiple formations punched their way into the very heart of the Combine ambushers, some of them even having the audacity, or outright insanity, to warp themselves directly into the enemy crafts' interiors. Some of the enemy's larger warcrafts eventually started to falter due to the massive internal damage caused by the semi-singularity's unconventional skirmishes within their interiors.

The story was the same for the others in the reserve who were also repelling the Combine's push. The only thing that varied was who was doing it and how.

The Photos forces were the last to enter the fray in the space around Felron. When the massive Superjuggernaut dropped out of warp, it dwarfed the ships around it.The mighty ship unleashed a maelstrom of firepower upon the Core Combine forces, already decimated from the combined efforts of the forces already there. To top off the incredible destruction, the Antimatter Cannon unleashed a massive beam of antimatter. It caught several ships in the beam, completely annihilated down to the atomic level. This was the most powerful ship in the Photos armada, and it meant business.

Planet Felron; Core Combine structure
Fre'val was pressing his options. He fired a grenade from his carbine at the incoming blasts, giving them a little breathing room.
"Jo'ras! We need an opening to get through!" He yelled over the firefight, to the Xylanis Mechanicus cheif that was with them. He nodded, and charged into the swarm of C.C. soldiers, flinging them left and right with his mechanical limbs. Within seconds, he had smashed countless soldiers down. They began to travel down the hallway.
"Remind me not to piss me off." Hy'ven muttered in Fre'val's direction. They made haste down the hall untill they arrived at a large blast door. "Jo'ras approached it, placing a satchel/breach charge on the door. They retreated a small distance, then blew the door, revealing a large elevator, appearing to be for supplies.

The Core Combine and the GPA forces crashed into each other with a bang, as the GPA unleashed every bit of their fury the Combine unleashed everything they had as well, swarms of frigates and destroyers scrambled in every direction, lashing out at any ship insights, some frigates took the most insane approaches to space warfare and actually went melee… destroyers unleashed volleys of missiles, and fired off their rail guns in order to counter the GPA’s attack.

The hardier battleships crowded around the carriers as was their charge to guard them, they unleashed their weapons on any ship that tried to touch them and took any shots directed at them with stubbornness only a koragon bull of Zaragan IV would show, said carriers did their task of opening up their large four way beaks and unleashing swarms of Combine fighters, which quickly entered into dog fights with the GPA variable and power armors, sometimes entire swarms going melee on the more close combat oriented variants, and the new kamikaze bomber would sometimes fly straight into the GPA’s formations, detonating themselves…

By no means did the Combine not suffer from the GPA’s punishment however, by far the most damaging tactics where the nearly insane maneuvers of the Atomna, a dreadnaught… one of the Combines most powerful ships had its reactor and some other critical parts damaged, it sparked and sputtered before a flash of light and an explosion followed… the second dreadnaught however was hardly fazed and soon targeted a nearby Orealyanis destroyer with its gravity beam, tearing it shreds before unleashing the rest of nearly uncountable weapons on the Combines enemy.

Felron Orbit

The Core Combine continued to fight with everything they had… but…but perhaps it would not be enough… so many species… it was as if the very universe was against them… how could ANY species hope to beat those odds? Was it possible? Indeed… the Combine had never faced such a large threat like this in their history… but they would persevere… they would fight on… surrender was not an option… failure… was not an option… they would fight on... and they would make shure to give their enemy hell...

The commander of the fragment of the Shadow armada opened up a channel with the C.C. command ship.
"Attention Core Combine leaders, we are not hostile. We are here to help you...and we propose an alliance." He said, signaling to target the enemy ships. He saw the P.S. Hyvez.
"Ah, the Photos armada has a big new toy...let's reduce it to scrap." He said, as the ships all opened fire on the Superjuggernaut.


Planet Felron
As the squad of special ops soldiers rode the elevator down, the havoc in orbit was unknown to them. The door opened, revealing a long hallway lined with computer stations. The attached Xylanis Mechanicus cheif sat down at the chair and inserted a portable hardrove to the accessory deck on the computer. He transfered all the data in the Core Combine computer network and then began to implant a decay virus in the network. Once he began, though, an alarm went off.

There was a moment of comparative silence as the coalition formulated their decision.

"Well, I guess that settles it...", the admiral smiled, doubly.

Shanara stood up from his chair and walked towards a nearby hover-platform. Outside, a large, orange variable armor can be seen flying straight towards the bridge, before suddenly making a tight turn and landing on the small hangar situated above.

"You heard it!", he said as the platform steadily rose towards a small portal which opened up in the ceiling above. "Everyone, buckle up..."





"We're moving out!"

It's been quite a long time since I last did this...

"Well, let's get on to it, shall we?", he said as he boarded his royal variable armor.

Entering the cockpit, he stretched out his entire body as an expansive array of mechanical tentacles pierced his body. The door closed behind him and the entire room was soon filled with a strange gel-like substance which oozed from the walls.

Shanara, completely submerged, entered a trance-like state as his thoughts were slowly integrated to the armor itself.

The armor did likewise, securing itself onto the flagship's control network.

It was only a matter of time before Shanara, his variable armor and the entire vessel itself, finally became one.



Felron Orbit, Coalition Reserve Fleets

As the battle waged on between the two factions, a rather familiar form loomed over the distance.

At first glance, it seemed like another variant of the typical Orealyianis variable armor.

However, upon closer inspection, it's true nature was quickly revealed. It was none other than the capital vessel of the Orealyianis Interstellar Navy. The variable fortress...



Vara Orealyianis.



Swarms of variable armors spewed forth from the monolithic vessel, as it's two main SEACESSV cannons charged to maximum capacity before unleashing a savage torrent of seemingly unblockable energy towards an unsuspecting Combine fleet, casting it asunder just as their crews finally realized the destruction that has suddenly befallen them.

As the colossal machine approached the fray, it's many components slowly began to churn as the internal machinery adjusted itself to accommodate the vessel's alternative mode.

It was going for melee.

The mobile fortress extended it's two long arms as it's claws began to glow an intensely bright vermilion. Just as the plasma contained therein almost reached temperatures hot enough to melt through the Vara Orealyianis itself, it swiveled towards the nearest enemy fleet before unleashing the deadly payload right at their faces.

Several vessels survived the onslaught, however, one of which was a rather sturdy dreadnaught.

But instead of outright finishing it off, Shanara had other plans for it...

The P.S. Hyvez was unleashing as many salvos as it could. It's weapons were firing off the hook, close to overloading, including the experimental weapon system on it, which had just come on-line. It was mounted with eight quad barreled railguns which fired beams of plasma. These are able to deal heavy damage to a single point. They are very accurate, but they generate mass amounts of heat and they drain loads of power from the system. These were crippling the Core Combine ships, already pulverised beyond the point of return. The antimatter cannon reached full capacity once again, and the massive craft targeted the Core Combine command ships. It fired, ripping apart virtually hundreds of ships in a huge blast. Unfortunately, this had a repercussion. All the weapons on the ship suddenly stopped firing. The engines stopped. Worst of all, the shields went down.
"Kyhirya,Kyhirya,Kyhirya!" The officer yelled. Apparently, the firing officer got carried away. This type of incident didn't happen in the Photos military often, but when it did, it generally was bad.

Scourge had been contemplating a retreat for quite a while now, bringing in reinforcements to Felron would not be very useful... it was too far gone, it was best to cut their losses and make sure the enemy did not get anything useful from it,

"Attention Core Combine leaders, we are not hostile. We are here to help you...and we propose an alliance."

"Shadow..." Scourge thought immediately with suspicion... the Core and the Shadow had crossed paths one or two times... though it was hard to tell whether they were truly allied or if one was simply plotting to kill the other... indeed put two psychotic races like the Core Combine and the Shadow in the same room and there was no telling what in the universe would happen...

Scourge turned towards another Skrall whom had a number of  wires hooked up to him, //You, send a message while I direct our fleets....retreat.....// He was disgusted just saying the word... //We will accept their proposal for an alliance.//

//Shadow Entity........alliance proposal accepted.....proposed strategy: Felron is a lost cause, as of now we are attempting to save what can be saved and destroying whatever can't, we cannot allow the enemy to gain too much from this loss... direct your fleets to support Combine forces, cover our retreat, we will regroup at a nearby fortress world where there will be further support awaiting us... both from our forces and..... certain others...//

Everywhere the Combine ships where being devastated… it was time to retreat…

//Move the Arachnash away from the battle, all fleets in the area are in full retreat…//

Everywhere the Combine fleets that where the furthest from the battles began to set their coordinates and move into open space where they could warp out unhindered, this included the Arachnash, its fleet, as well as the dreadnaught and the surviving vessels facing the Orealyanis reserve fleets… only the ships that where completly locked in combat where having trouble retreating

Felron

Near one of the Core Combine central data centers a Skrall, his mind hooked up to many machines, suddenly turned his attention to a certain unauthorized access in one of the data centers…

Unfortunately, Core Combine computer technology was mostly mind-machine interface, in other words, it usually worked via a Skrall directly connecting his mind to via cyborg-bionic implants to access the control systems, Had the Chief been enhanced with the compatible implants hacking into the Combines data files would have been a cake walk, but since he was using a console probably operated by mere soldier it forced him to have to bypass a number of security measures which simply got harder and harder with each passing, even worse off was the message now playing off did not sound to hot…

//Data unit detected…..analyzing…… beginning data uploa ERROR…..GENETIC KEY INCOMPATIBLE!//

The security systems on the Core Combines Hive network began to have a panic attack…

//WARNING: UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS DETECTED!//

Then the haunting words were spoken….. The haunting words every hacker feared…

//BEGINNING DATA PURGE!//

Files after files were suddenly being deleted or uploaded towards back up files as a new battle within cyberspace was now being fought… the Chief would have to work fast if he wished to save as much data as he could…

Then the alarms went off… and the whole facility started to shake as the bombardment continued…  then a slight hum could be heard as a door to the hall the Photos where in opened up, but what walked in would surprise them… to any other Photos.. It would have been much more horrible looking… what walked in was in fact another Photos…. But something was very wrong with him…his skin was dark gray… he was covered in strange chitaneous armor on his arms, legs, and part of his back, multiple wire like parts ran throughout his body, some connected to his head… and on his head zero percent of his face was visible, it was an almost oval shaped helmet with a single dominant red eye…

This creature was…no….once was a Photos… there was no telling where he had come from… but he probably once had a family… once had dreams… once had happy memories…. And now he was reduced to this…. A mindless bionic slave….

The former Photos stared at the squad for a few moments before bearing his bionic claws and letting out a horrible screech, he charged the squad with a near homicidal, zombie like rage. His screech seemed to signal others as more screeching could be heard throughout the halls that connected to the control room the Photos where in, the unauthorized access had Combine security banging all over… doors suddenly flew opened revealing hordes of slaves charging through these entrances only the elevator remained mostly clear leaving a possible escape route, there were a variety of species, all who where enslaved by the Core Combine… then had their DNA harvested and then cloned in bio-factories like cattle…. Strange humanoids charge towards the squad bearing claws or bionic nano swords, strange inscectoid creatures crawled upon the walls and ceilings, striking from unexpected angles…

"What in the name of all creation is that!?!" Fre'val  exclaimed. His helmet scanner registered it as a frendly, but this was clearly no longer a Photos. The thing still had armour, so ranged weapons would be inefficient. He drew his plasma sword and lunged at the creature. He countered with the sword, then parried, stabbing it throught the abdomen. He drew his carbine, holding it as a pistol. He fired off rounds and grenades, holding the enemy at bay.
"Anytime now, Jo'ras!" He said over his shoulder to the Cheif.
"I'm working, I'm working, but they added a decay virus of their own. The data is backing itself to a reserve network and deleting itself. I have to be selective in what I copy, and the firewalls aren't making my job any easier!" He shouted with spite. He copied the last file he could and pulled the portable hard drive off the computer. He opened a channel with the Littany above.
"Bring down the "rain of fire"." He said. He nodded a second later. He pointed up. There was a WOOOOOoooooWEEEEEE, then a slam as another drop pod with a drill head bored through the complex. A squad of Xylanis Opairis disembarked, firing off swarms of blasts from their Plasma Cannons, as well as engaging in melee with their larger Plasma Swords. The special ops began to retreat with the data. The cheif was gauging a path through the building. A gunship blasted the wall, and a shuttle landed. They embarked on the shuttle, and the Opairis soldiers. The were swarmed by medics and technitians, checking them and giving them various injections. It was a one in a million shot, but the got most of the data from the network, and the decay virus will destroy the data perminatly. They had done the impossible.

Meanwhile, in orbit of Fortress World A27...

The Riether fleet waited silently, invisible, over the surface of the heavily armed and armored planet below. They were lying in wait of the opposing galactic forces, on orders of the cooperation treaty passed several months ago by leaders of the Core Combine and Riether Empire. The ships were staying in place a good distance from the planet; obviously the galactic forces would be scanning the area in the immediate vicinity of the planet, but they probably wouldn't have the foresight to scan so far out in the outer reaches of A27's gravitational pull.

Leading the fleet was none other than the RIS Dakara. It was the last ship to arrive, after undergoing heavy refits and repairs after the innumerable border skirmishes it endured; it even now bore the scars of battle. As did the Supreme Admiral Vor'Das. Scars that were much more than superficial marks on the skin; they ran deep into his very core, an invisible hatred for all other life besides the Empire, and even then, he wan't too fond of that either.

"What is the status of the engagement fleet, general?" He said in his typical gruff manner. "All ships ready and prepared for engagement. All ships present and accounted for, all ships eager for battle." said the general, far across the huge table in the war room, recently added to the Dakara for fleet coordination. "And the reserve fleet? How are they faring?" He said. No Riether has ever been accused of being excessively courteous. "All ships present, sir, they are however still preparing themselves."

"Well then GET THEM FINISHED PREPARING. Just because they're the reserve doesn't bean they can afford to be lazy!" The Admiral said angrily. Recently he had been rather on edge, even for his species. A Riether on edge isn't one you want to mess with. "Yessir..." the general said. He spoke into the communicator on his chair, a simple order to the reserve fleet general: "GET MOVING!" he said loudly, and turned the comm off before he could hear the response.

"I have a bad feeling about this..." The Admiral thought to himself.

Felron Orbit

The giant fortress moved it's arms toward the heavily immobilized dreadnaught, clamping it's massive claws onto the Combine vessel. All over the Vara Orealyianis, thousands upon thousands of thrusters sprang into action, creating a visible distortion over the space around them. Slowly, but surely, the thrusters dragged the ship's entirety towards a favorable position in Felron's orbit.

The Combine planet was now going to get a dose of it's own medicine.

Quickly, the Vara Orealyianis hurled the captive dreadnaught straight for a collision course with the already battered planet, aiming directly for the weak point that was the Photos's drop site.

It's estimated time of impact left a wide enough window of time for the Photos commandos to get themselves to safety.

The shuttle exited the atmosphere of Felron, dodging stray blasts aimed at the Littany. It docked with the ship, and the soldiers on board were back on friendly ground. They uploaded the data into the ship's mainframe. Ki'una sent a message to the Orealyianis flagship:
We have recovered the Core Combine mainframe data from their headquarters on Felron. I know we went against orders, but this data carries every Core Combine blueprint, fleet plan, colony location. This data means we could effectively combat them. Well, at least what data we could get. They began to transfer their data to a backup network and delete the origional. We got what we could before everything was deleted. Anyway, send a GPA official, and I shall give them a copy. Ki'una, out!

That was it… Felron was lost… the Skrall could not feel sadness pity or fear… but they could feel rage… and that was the emotion dominating them right now… they would pay for this… all of them… by the time this war was over the Combine was going to make sure they got a good lick in before this was over… and they did not care how much blood they had to spill… or how many atrocities they needed to commit in order to do it.

Scourge had seen Felron was lost the minute the bombardment started… but still… if the Core Combine got anything from this battle it was data… pure data… now they knew how their enemy fought, now they finally knew what they were dealing with.

//Zaragnan… an enemy commando team infiltrated a minor control complex in the war hall correct? Not a hive network point?//

//Yes Supreme Commander Scourge… the second we detected the unauthorized entry we began to purge our data files…//

The Core Combine now had a set goal….. vengeance… and little did the enemy know that a Core Combine deep space probe had come across something very interesting in Photos territory…..

It was the Core Combines turn to take the fight to the enemy now…

Felron Orbit

The Dreadnaught attempted to try to alter its path, anything, anything to try to stop its seemingly unstoppable decent to the surface, but it was all for naught, it was simply thrown by the massive carrier with too much force, it went spinning down into the surface, completely sealing the final nail on the Core Combines defeat at Felron…

At another part of space however, the lone Photos Dreadnaught and shuttle suddenly became a high priority targets, the remaining Combine ships in the form of multiple frigates and destroyers as well as two battle ships turned their attention to it, they had valuable data and it was going to be a cold day in hell when they would let them get away with it without a fight…
Meanwhile, the bulk of the Combine fleet including the Arachnash managed to get a safe distance away from the enemy and warped out towards their respective destination…

Fortress World A27

More and more fleets where coming towards A27 in order to reinforce the world, of course there was also the possibility that they were actually going to be redirected for a counter attack on the Photos…

Leading the fleet was a Dreadnaught named the Kivir’cor, headed by high warlord Ragaran, who had been studying the data received from the battle of Felron, so far he realized that the enemies battle cruisers where the biggest threat, he began to draft a strategy that would lure the enemy fleet straight into the crosshairs of the Riether fleet waiting in ambush, the Core Combine just needed to keep all attention focused on them… and after which their combined fire power would lure the galactic forces into a meat grinder, hitting them from all sides on their front and their flanks…

On the P.S. Hyvez, the crew was scrambling to get power back on.
"Oh man, they're targeting the Commander's dreadnought.....divert all power from auxillary to the weapons!" He said. Fortunately, aux power was supplied by a seperate reactor. Sure, it wouldn't power the railguns or the Antimatter Cannon, but it should power the plasma batteries. They opened fire on the Littany's assailants. It gave the Littany a clear shot out of combat. It activated it's warp drive and shot off out of the combat area.

Felron had apparently gone quiet. Agnasi was always waiting for an unclaimed planet, especially one that had been formally occupied: the refined resources and technology was allways usefull.

the huge Iavolg superstructure, Hnangha, a cluster of ship, some melded together, other simply loosely attached, slammed to a halt just outside the system's orbit. a small cluster of carriers and transports emerged from somewhere in the great ship, and sped toward the planet. then, without pause, the  Hnangha primed it's engines and launched back into deeper space.

meanwhile, the small ship traveled, and headed into Felrons' atmosphere. they slipped in, virtually unnoticeable by the remaining warships. one dropship hovered down, just 20 meters from the surface of the scarred world. it's hatch opened, and a dozen soldiers where dropped haphazardly.

the landed in a heap. their soft bones cracked as they hit the surface. the ones who could, stood up, and searched about for anything edible. there was little in the way of food. no-matter though. they had been modified to eat anything. with half of them injured, this small group was useless for any practical use. but that was irrelevant. in another days time, they would be replaced by their many, many offspring.
