The Core Combine First Contact War
« on: January 06, 2010, 12:00:37 am »
Felron, Core Combine central command, War Hall

        The War Hall of Felron was quite a large structure but even then most of its true facilities, the ones that handled the important duties where all buried deep underground, heck the war hall could easily be mistaken for just one gigantic bomb shelter, just like the rest of Felron's cities and buildings, its first purpose was for the military. Inside the war hall was a large circular room and it seem to extend for miles… downward (basically think the Star Wars Galatic Republic meeting area with all the floating stands) in it a lone Skrall on a gravity throne floated in, unexpectedly the war hall was completely empty, indeed eversince the advancements in the Hive Network actual physical meetings where not truly necessary, if anything this particular Skrall’s visit to the war hall was a formality at most, but it did not decrease his importance his name was Cragar and he was a speaker… a speaker for the rulers of the Skrall

A speaker for the Overlords themselves…

Whenever Cragar spoke everyone better damn well listen, his words where the words of the Overlords, and to defy them was to die… The Overlords where rather mysterious beings, no Skrall save for a speaker was aloud to enter their inner sanctum, which contrary to popular belief was not on Felron, infact even Cragar nor any other speaker actually knew where the Overlords where truly located, he had used the “portal”, the strange device that led into the Overlords personal sanctum a few times to speak with them but he was never told where he was, only to listen and relay the information and orders to the Core Combine, none of this was his concern however, the minute he was born into the universe he was to do what he was meant to do not  question why.

Cragar then concentrated, immersing himself into the massive communication system known as the hive network, and when his presence was felt silence ensued, the Skrall turning a portion of their super computer like minds to him, all while continuing other tasks such as harvesting resources or expanding the Combine.

//Denizens of the Core Combine… the third great expansion has come, many many worlds have been taken during our time among the stars... But as always the Overlords demand more! However this should not come as a surprise to any of us now should it? But there are matters of greater importance the Overlords informed me of recently promoted High Warlord Ragaran as well as Vokonar’s expansion operation, as you know Warlord Ragaran pulled out, but not out of cowerdice, I personally contacted him as it was the Overlords wish that he retreat. Denizens of the Core Combine we have fought and conquered many civilizations, at least in our corner of the galaxy, but the war that is now coming, will be far greater than any other... and our new enemy who DARES stand against our quest of expansion and conquest will not find us unprepared.

Make no mistake, these creatures are coming… and when they warp out of the dark abyss and enter our home, they will know the true meaning of terror! They will find no rest, no dark corner will be safe, we will lash out from every direction, and we shall send their soldiers back to them in body bags, and their weapons in rusted scrap piles! And the  these creatures will know the price of interfering with the Core Combine!//

With that little speech of pride and emotion, Cragan became all business, he remained immersed in the Hive Network in order to ascertain the status of the Core Combine and its battle readiness the Overlords would want a report…

//Status?!// The response was almost instant

//All Battle Fleets on alert and ready…//
//Raider Fleets equipped!//
//Swarm Fleets  ready for combat!//
//All slave armies equipped and ready!//
//Soldier Units Ready!//

This response was of course expected, where was never a time the Core Combine was not in a state of militarization, 24/7 the Core was producing military supplies and harvesting resources for its endless crusade in the name of expansion,.

"These creatures very likely think us light hearted and weak…" Cragar thought to himself

But they have no idea what we are capable of…

Core Combine Provinces

The minute Cragan finished his little speech, the entire Core Combine kicked it into overdrive, the Hive Network suddenly came alive with activity, with battleplans being discussed, exchanged, and finalized, orders for more slaves, soldiers, and ships to be added to their already impressive arsenal where going left and right, luckily the biofactories for now  where capable of keeping up with such a high demand. Indeed whoever these meddling creatures where, if they wanted war the Core Combine was more than willing to give it to them a thousand times over.

War Room, GPA HQ, Tanariadne

Enna Miq, the Perrachi Chief of Patrol Services, stood up from her seat at the table in the War Room. Also seated around the table were Director Hatena Rolu, Deputy Director Fånajusi, Chief of Counter-Terrorism Kurheac, Chief of Operations Valgu-110, and Chief of Internal Affairs Kar'vhix, as well as the heads of state of the various member states of the GPA, including Chief Random Elect Zhukop of the Milika Lotterial Government, President Dimikos Talin of the PSR, and High Chancellor Sheth Tallar of the UGP. Now that I'm done listing names, let's see what Chief Miq has to say.

"People, we are now at war. As you well know, a peaceful Graid vessel was attacked without provocation some days ago by several ships of the race known as the Core Combine. They have advanced weaponry and are a foe to be reckoned with, though our military outnumbers theirs. Intelligence reports have revealed that the Core Combine has taken our defending of the Graid vessel as a declaration of war, and are already mobilizing their forces. The reports also show that there is a key Combine stronghold planet on the edge of their territory that we could easily take over and use as a base to attack other Combine planets. Although an battle plan has been created by our top military strategists, the specifications and strength of our military will depend on how much you are willing to contribute. What say you, heads of state?"

President Talin of the PSR spoke.

"All the forces of the Perrachi Socialist Republic will be willing to join this war. We do not have as many starfighters as other nations but our 4.72-kilometer-long Battlecruisers will prove to be a great asset, especially in the orbital bombardment of Core Combine planets. The Battlecruisers are armed with several hundred laser cannons and railguns, as well as four Orbital Nuclear Missile Launchers, or ONMLs." He pronounced it on-mills. "I have thoroughly reviewed this situation and assure you that PSR forces will defend and fight, minimizing GPA casualties while maximizing those of the Core Combine."

Enna turned to the other leaders and Chiefs. "Is there anything anyone else wishes to say?"

kureak replied, dryly, "though we would much like to contribute to the 'war', we are unable to supply ships at this time. I hope you understand" he said, with a bit of chargrin.

"however, we can easily supply ground fighters and guards for vessels, should the need come. we studied their method of controlling their people( through the captured soldier). we believe it would be a bit more difficult for our people to be affected, due to our external bodies...biology, or lack thereof"

(sorry for the short posts. after all, I have a small role)

"I cannot guarantee the Milika's help.  The Supara decimated our forces, and our most powerful ship, the Hukuopo, is still being repaired.  Ju has much surface damage, and it's amazing that I live after they attacked the capital city.  We still have smaller command ships, but they do not have working Atom Breakers.  If you want those, you'd have to go through the Vykusi, but they have withdrawn unto themselves to deal with the uprising of this 'Agents of Wi,' so they might not have a working government by the time you could contact them.  Also, due to the loses in the war, I no longer have the full confidence of the Legitematly Elected Assembly, so to pass a declaration of war will not be a very easy task.  I would require an outside voice to speak to them, so that they will know that the danger is very real."

"see here. your inferring from previous events, with entirely different problems. it should not influence your decision. a pledge of assistance from a nation such as yours would go far in garnering support from other peoples. we understand your losses where severe, but what you have left still functions."

"if your resolve stays, it appears the Perrachi may have to spearhead the war alone, until the Orealyianis are ready.

A Photos commander stood.
"If I may, our armada has been experiencing a dry spell, as the Shadow have been quite inactive as of late, so I can throw a large chunk of ships towards the Core Combine. We could strike before the main attack and soften up the defenses so the larger ships won't be in as high a danger zone. Our dreadnoughts are expendable in the large scale. A Juggernaught isn't." He said.

Miq looked disappointed. She then turned to the Photos commander and spoke.

"That is good news. Now then-" She looked in the general direction of the others in the War Room. "-the central GPA computer network is able to gather the information you have given and create a new strategy for an attack on the Core Combine. Its quantum processes should take a few millionths of a second to do so. Computer, create a new attack plan."

Instantly, the holographs in the table's center changed to show different images. "Assuming that a declaration of war will be passed by the Photos council, the computer has taken into account all available information on our combined fleet. Seen here are the Core Combine fortress worlds." A few stars in the 3-D map lit up from white to red. "Intelligence has reported that these systems are heavily guarded, populated and likely terraformed, but the majority of their systems are lightly armed. In this strategy, several fleets of combined GPA forces led by Orealyianis or Photos if the latter's forces have not mobilized yet will strike at the secondary systems. We will use them as bases for launching attacks against the fortress worlds, led by PSR Battlecruisers. Once the orbital defenses are dealt with, ground and air forces will be deployed to seek out any victims of Core Combine oppression. When they are liberated, PSR Battlecruisers will sterilize the planet with ONMLs, assuming that the GPA War Council agrees on that. If not, extensive planetary campaigns will be held to put up a GPA base in the system. The first method would be much shorter, cheaper, and less deadly, but I am not attempting to be biased here."

"Remember that if there is reason for it, our war plan will change from a policy of containment to one of destroying the Core Combine. Are there any questions?"
I came, I saw, I went back to bed.

"Just one. We have a prototype weapon, codenamed the SystemShock, that is just DYING to be field tested. It's a massive EMP Bomb  that is designed to take out every ounce of unshielded electronics in a system. We could, say, field test it on one of the Core Combine's fortress systems. With all unshielded electronics fried, we would have a much easier time. Just need your approval."

"I should point out that EMP fields are also generated by nuclear weapons, which the PSR happens to have in staggering numbers. An orbital nuclear EMP assault would be quicker than the System Shock and more efficient, and is also an option in our strategy. I'm afraid I must turn down your request. Also, are there any comments on humanitarian aid for after the war?"

"Actually, there is one thing I have been contemplating for quite some time now...", Chief of Operations Valgu-110 said.

"If our preliminary data are correct, this entity is most likely using some form of mind-manipulating technology to subdue a percentage of their servant population. When it happens that this is true, then it would most likely be tantamount that we secure their data storage mediums in order to reverse engineer the technology and, if possible, return the citizenry to their former, unadulterated state."

The chief's eyes emitted a slightly more intense glow than usual as they began to project an image depicting the aftermath of a certain conflict from a time long past.

"It took some time, but I was able to recover a small cache of visual records from a past conflict known to most older civilizations as the "Communicant War". Many might remember during their Galactic History that the conflict was between the denizens of our galaxy, and the extragalactic Communicant Empire. To cut the long story short, the enemy's leader disappeared during the final chapters of the conflict, and his army, which was under mind-control the entire time, was left solely to themselves. The galactic community, which became the eventual victors, attempted to remove the mind-manipulating devices from the creatures. Unfortunately, the lack of source data led to, quite a large number of, losses."

The projection disappeared as the chief's eyes returned to their normal shade.

"We can't allow them to purge their documents if it ever comes to a situation where they are motivated to do so."

"Hm.... If I send in an elite drop squad to secure the data before the battle, that could be a major win before the battle even starts. Should we go through it?" The commander asked.

"You would need a small army to secure the central control point. No, we must send a larger force to win, but that itself would start the battle, which is inevitable. As I said, all reasonable options are on the table, and the strategy of taking over the homeworld is a possible yet risky one. To take control of their main planet would require a gigantic fleet, which we have, and our technology is superior to theirs. Casualties would be high, and our command ships would need to be protected at all costs."

President Talin spoke. "If I may? Thank you, it just occurred to me that the formations of Core Combine ships seem to be in clusters. This could offer a use for the PSR Battlecruisers' ONMLs. They could fire into the ship clusters, which would destroy most ships and leave the others as easy targets."

"That is certainly an option, but a last-resort one. Our first priority is securing the central data base on the Core Combine's central planet of operations. The strategy of taking out the homeworld is a sound one, and it could result in a massive loss of troops for the Core Combine as well as possible rebellions and a lack of leadership. Are we all in agreement on this plan?"

"Aye," announced Talin.
