[AC]Alpha Cluster Maps
« on: January 03, 2010, 12:39:31 pm »
Galaxy - Unnamed(To be decided)

(Click to view the enlarged image, but be forewarned, it is 5000x5000 pixels)

Quadrants;
I - Alpha
II - Beta
III - Gamma
IV- Delta

Rims;
The first concentric circle marks the boundary of the Core.
The second marks the boundary of the Inner Rim.
The third marks the boundary of the Middle Rim.
Everything else is the Outer Rim.

Empires;
The Vantry(Border - Dark blue, Fill - Electric Blue)
[No special markers]

The Hydron(Border - Purple, Fill - Pink)
[No special markers]

The Crystalion(Border - Burnt Orange, Fill - Red)
[No special markers]

The Slorv(Border - Dark Green, Fill - Light Green)
[No special markers]

The Yerxe(Border - Dark Red, Fill - Bright Red)
[No special markers]

The Chara'Ai(Border - Yellow, Fill - Orange)
[No special markers]

The Kota Coalition(Border - Teal, Fill - Purple)
[No special markers]

The Pharuun(Border - Bright Red, Fill - Grey)

The Viri An *insert name*(Border - Violet, Fill - Green)
[No special markers]

There it is. When we reference a sector, do it by the bottom left corner. Ex. - If I wanted to reference the Alpha Quadrant sector touching the origin, I'd say (0,0). If I wanted the Gamma Quadrant sector touching the origin, I'd say (-1,-1). Notice that the fifth line is unmarked; assume that it is, but that you can't see the marking.

When you want to add to the map, take the sector(s) that your empire is in from the galaxy map as a whole, and then edit these sectors, remembering to tell me what the sectors' coordinates are. Post only these sectors. I will then integrate them into the overall map, if I approve of your modifications. Note that the sectors are 500 by 500 pixels.

Or, you can just say what sector(s) you want in, with a general location, and I'll throw you in somewhere, with territory or such.

Our first empires should be smallish circles, as I've done. We will then extend their boundaries, and eventually mark special locations(which will be black dots with small lettering to reference of listing of what is what. As it is now, territory is just our home planets.

To add to the map, we just make our own sector image and you then add it?  And I'm just a little confused as to how the grid is numbered, if the sector is named by the bottom left number, shouldn't beta quadrant be (-1,0)?

Just a suggestion, but I think people should ask to be added instead of editing their empire in. This clears up any resolution problems and allows Raz to control how far somebody expands in territory.

Whoops. Gamma*.

I was going to add that as a secondary option, if people didn't want a specific area.

May you add me just on the otherside of the line above the Vantry? I would like a pink fill with a purple border.

Another quick suggestion, maybe limit all these starters to a specific quadrant so that 'quick' travel can happen between races and it would make more sense if we actually started meeting each other. I'm not suggesting that everyone be right next to each other, just in the basic same area. Then we can use this map to determine which race participates in which RP.

EDIT: Just saw your other post Raz.

You're forgetting that everything else is also the Outer Rim. The entire map is in the galaxy. I'll think about it, if you can produce a larger version.

I need to get the new thread up, but I would like the Slorv to be at:
(3, 2.5)
I don't mind which colors you use for them, but if you need suggestions then how about light green/dark green.

I mean with the core still glowing in the small area, but with the swirls expanded to most of the map. You can leave the corners if you want, but even they should have some swirls.

Perhaps we should label the various governments, as well as key systems. Oh, and everybody is in the Alpha Quadrant? That's a bit cliched, but whatever.

The Yerxe should be at coordinates (1.8, -0.2) in the Delta Quadrant.

Raz actually asked (told) everyone to be in the Alpha section so that these first RPs would make sense.

That's the kind of sense I wanted to give them: Isolated and mysterious, and forgive me if I'm sounding stupid. They aren't that deep into the Delta Quadrant, anyway. If the Crystalion are at the edge of the Alpha Quadrant bordering the Delta Quadrant, they could still contact the Yerxe and potentially the rest of the galactic community.
The Chara'ai are at the boundary between the Alpha and Beta quadrants
I suppose that their technology would take decades to reach the Yerxe.

I noticed that the galaxy is unnamed. Well, it appears to be a spiral galaxy, and they have names like the Sunflower Galaxy and the Whirlpool Galaxy, although our Local Group consists of the Milky Way, Andromeda, and Triangulum Galaxies, all spiral. I'm not sure what to name it.
I tried adding planets in, but they don't have colors (yet)
The text is small and a bit hard to read.

Just got home.

Wow, this map is nice!

As for my locations:

Viri An Rani Malikei    ->   Small green dot with violet outline and located in upper-right corner of Q1(2,2)
Viri An Rani Nalanei   ->   None. They are nomadic.
The Others             ->   Three 1x1 green dots with violet outlines and located ten or so pixels to the right of the Viri An Rani Malikei

They're not. Their homeworlds are just too spread apart for a single marker to be able to cover.

Imagine that An Rani Malikei is the Contiguous US while the other three are Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico.

Y'know, I'm planning on drawing a generation ship for my pre-contact Kosong. If you placed yours next to mine, it would make for a good first contact RP opportunity. Have the Phaaruun discovered FTL yet?
