Sculptures!

Well, we already have a thread for 3D art, but how about sculptures you've made by hand?

I did these as Christmas presents for my family.

For my brother:

For dad:

For mom:

Sorry I ignored your thread at first. I usually get the tunnel vision on Doodle Your Post and Merry Doodles.

Those are really cool. I tried sculpting myself a little bit with some.. I dunno. Regular clay. The kind you can't really bake.
I really like the sitting man. He's got a lot of personality.

Are you gonna practice some more, develop your skills? I think you could make some pretty neat models.
And how about painting some up?

I love how much attention you put into the bunny.
Is that the paper clay stuff? My moms lately been using that to repair a bunch of her little figure cats.
I guess I could try posting some stuff I do. Does painting things count? I haven't actually made anything yet >_>.

Well, I was actually going to do another sculpture yesterday. I did the armature and all out of iron wire and aluminum foil, but used a different type of clay. It just got too soft too fast and then it was impossible to work with. The sculpture was going to be a study on human anatomy based on some pictures taken of the same guy in the same pose from different angles. Thought that would be a cool way to study anatomy, Maybe I'll try it again some day, with different clay.

Now I just need to figure out what to do with that crappy clay.

Maybe I can find some way to work with it.

It's all about technique.

I have thought about painting the sculptures, too, but I haven't bothered to find out what kind of colors I should use.

It's more like regular clay, except you can bake it in the oven. There also types that begin hardening as they are exposed to air. It's cool for stuff that you don't want to bake, but not really that great in general.

Sure, I guess.

Just don't forget to mention you didn't make the sculptures. Who did, by the way? Do you know?

Let's see. The last time I ever made a clay sculpture was probably when I made Hydro's raptor-squid thingy that was so popular. Thought I should break out the clay again.

Excellent work!  Though those eyes are creeping me out.  I'll have to bust out the clay again sometime, too.
Probably not a Goat, either.
