Torchlight
« on: September 17, 2009, 11:12:09 pm »
Has anyone seen this?

Torchlight

It's a diablo game made by the guys who made the original diablo/diablo II.
The team is mainly the group from flagship studios who made one of my favorite MMO's: Mythos.

It comes out next month, and is only $20 for a single player game. The multiplayer will be later.
If you know me, you would know I love me some ARPG's

I'll be buying it since it's only $20. I'll let you know how it is.

Nice Find Fink.

I might be trying this. $20 is nothing really, but do they offer digital downloads?

I suppose it's funny that you posted after me, because you are also female.  How coincidental.

Heard about this from Perfect World, turns out that Torchlight is just a "prequel" to their new mmo in the works.

Supposedly there's a patch coming next week that will fix mods not (always) working with the Steam version. It'll also fix the longer loading times with mods and some miscellaneous bugs.
Work on the patch has delayed the release of the mod tool TorchED though, but that hasn't stopped the community from making some mods already.

Oh, its not the most stimulating game, but I think that's part of the charm. You can just turn off your brain and wade through those mobs.
Sam is basically right, he's just cranky.

It has three classees all of which have no restrictions and play exactly the same, so there's no re playability either.

They don't play exactly the same, each class has different skills. There's just no restriction on what class can use what weapon, which is a good choice by the developers, in my opinion.
Also, don't even bother with 'Easy' difficutly. 'Normal' is also very easy, so 'Hard' mode is recommended.

I played the demo on the hardest difficulty on hardcore mode, and it wasnt very challanging to be honest, once i had a AOE attack anyway.
