Sorry, I didn't see he was 14. They generally need 16 or above.

Callcentres aren't that bad; I've worked in various ones for a few years, only doing inbound calls, so I'm not phoning round selling double-glazing or fitted kitchens. I just try to help customers out (unless they talk down to me, lack manners, or show me a complete lack of respect, in which case they're on their own), ya know?

I hate (not really hate, but it is irritating) people who call me and try to sell all kind of crap to me, especially when they allready called a few days before.  >:(.

Consarn it son, you don't need a job at your age. Enjoy your youth! You only have so long before that life-clock starts blinking.
Not a winner anymore.

Do what I do tell them to hold for a few minutes then leave the phone by a radio spanish language or a normal station or a tv or if you feeling particularly evil the porn channel if you got at least audio come back in about 10 mins see if they are still holding on if you still got them try in half an hour granted it ties up your phone but it ties up there as well. If they get paid based on making sales they wont you on the line and if they don't hang up there a chance they may still get you. When you had enough torturing them just hang up with out a word.

Actully heres an Idea leave the phone by your computer as the Llama song goes around and around.

I have no idea what jobs you could get up in Alaska... :P

A lot more normal ones than you think. Alaska isnt full of Polar bears and igloos. I actually used to live in a good sized city (before I moved to Seattle), and it got to 75 degrees yesterday (Summers we usually get 75-90).

Dont diss Alaska. If youve ever been to the Pacific Northwest, its like that.

I cleaned engines when I was 16. I did that off and on until well, a couple months ago. At 16, just take whatever you can find. If you're not happy with what you find, keep looking for something else while you're making money there at the same time.

I did work at B&Q (that's a UK 'hardware store'). I lasted a week and a half there "facing up", which was basically having to rummage through boxes of screws and pipes that customners had dumped in the wrong place and putting them back, then watching customers messing up the bits you'd just done. I walked out after being forced to crawl into a 1' high shelf to pull 5L tubs of paint from the back, while the two harridans working at the paint desk stood around drinking coffee.

I lost most of the feeling in my big toe from that job. Stupid uncomfortable (cheap) steel toecap boots.

LOL I start working in a food sauce factory next week in order to add to my pretty meagre student loan, fortunately I've borrowed my dads old rig-boots, which are a little too big for me, but are steel toe-cap and are fairly comfortable, providing I'm wearing two pairs of socks.

I lost the feeling when they made me push trolleys (shopping carts, if you're in the USA :P) for 9 hours when the regular trolley-pusher (a young lad with some kind of mental condition) was off sick.

It was not fun. I did take a half-hour unscheduled break though when a friend came and visited me and we went for a smoke :)
