Yes, we've got a San Andreas multiplayer server ready to run. We just need players.
What the players need is a copy of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, running on version 1.0. There was a downgrader patch on the site for this mod, however the archive is corrupted for some reason.
I suppose if you're updated beyond 1.0, you should be able to reinstall.
Versions from Steam or D2D will not work. This is not coop, there are no NPCs, and there are no missions from the main game.
http://www.sa-mp.com/download.phpYou guys get the client.
I'll handle the server stuff
When you think you're ready, GTA SA version 1.0 and you've got SA MP installed, point it towards
70.69.187.46:7777If you want to organize, post in this thread. Just don't say "yeah, I'll be there later" and then never show up. ¬_¬
We don't have a lot of variety in the game modes, but I'll go over them here.
If all else fails, we can just screw around and do our own things.
Manhunt - minimum 3 players required to begin
One player is chosen to be hunted by everyone else. The hunted player has to survive for a certain amount of time.
When the hunted player survives or is killed, hunted status switches to one of the other players.
SniperDeathmatch with sniper rifles in a small section of the city.
RivershellCapture the enemies boat up the river. Defend your boat from capture.
Best with a lot of players.
Steal the SemiAnother defend/capture mode like Rivershell.
Area 51One team tries to infiltrate the lowest level of Area 51, the other team tries to stop them.
Best with lots of players.
San Fierro DeathmatchPick a class with a weapon set (balance not guaranteed), and go kill everyone else.
Not as structured, but still a good bit of fun.
No boundaries, however vehicles will only spawn in the San Fierro area.
Las Venturas LandgrabFeatures freeroaming, forming gangs, buying shops to generate income (to buy weapons), and straight up deathmatch.
It's essentially a slightly more complicated deathmatch game, but deathmatch nonetheless.
Monster Truck MadnessYou spawn at the airplane graveyard. There are tons of monstertrucks and mountain bikes.
Best mode for freeroaming since there really doesn't seem to be any gamemode elements to get in the way.
Extreme StuntingCertain areas have been edited heavily so you can perform crazy vehicle stunts.
Awfully buggy and some sections are pretty poorly made, but there is certainly a hell of a lot of fun to be had here.
Not so great for teamplay or anything. Just a lot of fun things for each person to enjoy.
Loops, ramps, obstacles... all that stuff.
Most of these give you brief commands in the announcement text as you pick your skin.
Keep a few things in mind -
t to talk
/help will most often give you game mode help
/commands will most often give you a list of commands
Note that some of these modes are pretty small. You'd probably get bored of them quickly if they were the only thing running for awhile.
Gamemodes don't seem to cycle automatically at the moment. The framework is there, but that's all it is.
In order for me to change a game mode, I have to close the server, reconfigure it to point to a different gamemode file, and restart. Not a terrible hassle, but kind of annoying if you guys are getting bored of the current mode.
So if we wanted to enjoy a few rounds of capture/defend game modes, I'd need to be there to change it up to sandbox or whatever after we're done.
When I'm not around, I would leave it running on a sandboxy sort of mode like Monster Truck Madness, leaving you guys to mess around and have your own fun while I'm not there.
Cool.
TIME TRAVELLER EDIT: Dude, this died so freaking fast it's laughable.
