Destined to fail.

Honestly. I'm kind of disappointed in all the excited movie critics. How can they not sense this and I can?
No way dude, you're trolling me.

Because it's James Cameron.
Seriously, that's the only reason most people are giving for thinking that this will be 'teh gratest film evar!11!!1".
I doubt I'll ever take a film made by a man that actually asks people if they would 'do' his aliens seriously again.

The name of the aliens pretty much made think about Zelda games.

HEY! LISTEN!

Anyway, the first time I saw this I truly thought it was a game about humans going to an alien planet to collect creatures from said planet for science. Thats why I was hyped about it, but then I learn it was a movie and got dissapointed about it. :(

You'll never know why.

And bumping this, now that they're playing trailers for it in theaters.

My short opinion is that the movie looks absolutely beautiful, but the story is painfully cliched.  I swear I saw commercials for a CG kid's movie with this exact story last year.

No excuse.  I've easily downed 2 pounds of candy while working on projects and I can still post coherently.

Actually I think im with you on this, I swear there was a kids CG movie out almost around Christmas that had the exact same type of story, that being: Guy is sent to infiltrate Alien Population, Guy ends up liking them, Guy ends up facing his own people to save the others. It even has the Aliens flying around on flying creatures and being primitive.

At first I thought this movie was just a remake or that the CG one were episodes. Really strange.

Aha, I found it!

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plyRYrqa_4g" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plyRYrqa_4g</a>

This is why the movie seemed so familiar.  And if memory serves, Battle for Terra sucked.

Yeah if I remember correctly Battle of Terra didn't do well with critics or the box office.

As soon as I saw the trailer for this I didn't see why there had been so much hype about the visual effects. They reminded me of the Final Fantasy movie. The plot immediately looked like a joke. How many times does Hollywood think it can tell that same story only now with crappy sci-fi. My thoughts on Avatar are summarized by last weeks episode of South Park called Dances with Smurfs.

Reverse Hues for Dark Crystal and Avatar characters.

Personally I think they look like the creatures from "Dark Crystal". They sure have the same ears.
