Dragon Age: Origins
« on: August 15, 2009, 01:20:32 pm »
Seeing as this will be an awesome game, and that its being released in November, I suppose its time to start its topic eh?

Basically the game is the spiritual succesor to Baldurs Gate 2 (HELL YEAH).

Why is it called :Origins you ask? Well when you start the story of the game you get to pick one of six 'origin' stories in which you develop character before the actual game and establish just who your character is. Its basically a 2-3 hour tutorial with story elements in it, which is pretty sweet. Most Origin stories also have multiple outcomes, providing for replayability within the first 3 hours of the game.

Magic is also supposedly sweet in this game, it have a 'physics' appeal apparently. IE, you hit someone with oil or cast 'grease' on them and then cast fire to inflict a greater DoT plus the initial DMG. Sounds cool, they call it 'spell combos'. I'm skeptical here because i mean how good will it be? If i freeze someone then hit them with a blunt object can they shatter? Either way it will be good enough for me.

Who else wants this/has some concerns?

Is it bad I read this thread as Dragon Age: Virgins?

I can't wait either.

But it looks I can't get it until Christmas, unless I get enough money for the game and a extra GB of RAM.

It's a shame I'm going to grab this game on the console. I still have found memories of Baldur's Gate I & II.
I need a new tag.

I was considering getting it on the console, but apparently it is going to play much bette on the PC, and since my PC is a terrifying space robot from the future, I don't need to worry about it being powerfull enough to run it well.

I'll probably trade in Brutal Legend to get this. My friends have convinced me I need it.

This game is EPIC.

Depending on Class,Race,Background and anything you do your story changes

I picked a Human Noble and i got a Bulldog (i named him Bill)

Also the game is just like a movie the cutscences are great and everything runs very smooth.(also great detailing)

But my one MAJOR problem is the loading screens sometimes the loading screens takes like 10 mins the most. You have to wait till music plays and you hear a scroll sound then you go ingame.

I rate it 9.8/10 Other then that the game so far is great :)

(Warning if you got a bad computer lower down the graphics)

Is the PC version of this really that much better than the console?
