I found its worth it, really revitalized it for me, for a while at least.

Its starting to give me trouble, but nothing serious.

Is it really that good? Did it at-least live up to the hype?

It's definitely worth it, however you should know it's a love-hate thing. Some people absolutely love it and it's their new favorite game, while others find it boring and a waste. If you like being creative, writing stories etc., then I would think you'd enjoy it.

I don't play the core game much, I just use the editor to create my own adventures, and occasionally, when I find a good adventure, I play in Quick Play Mode.

It is worth it. Revitalised the game for me. Fixed alot of things. Added new game play. Some adventures are fun. Most adventures are too short and easy, Or not made well and are unfinishable. Most of the quests I find require Creepy and Cute (Which is STILL priced at $30 here) so I cant play those.

I don't know about all this revitalizing the game and living up to the hype, but it is fun.
Probably not a Goat, either.

I found it interesting at best. Maybe I haven't played through it enough, but it seems almost more of a disconnect than anything.

Spore is a fairly fast game as far as play vs. load times are concerned, but GA kills that. When I do finally decide to go on a mission it can take an extremely long time for that mission to load. Once in the mission, which is a random mix of total crap to something wonderful, (so far more the former than the latter) you can often find you are dead in the water because your creature simply is not physically capable of doing whatever task has been put before him, like starting in a crater only find that the only way out is to fly, but I built a running creature. Another example is you pick up a coin and the mission ends... 10 seconds of play for a couple minutes of loading... yippy.

Maybe I should give it more time, but it is very mid-grade so far.

I think a lot of it's short comings are the quality of missions people are making.

The expansion is great. People just don't really know how to make good adventures.

And there's really nothing you can do about that, I guess.

The same could be said about creatures, vehicles and buildings. There is always going to be like 90% crap and 10% awesomeness.

Just a couple of questions.

Is it true you can make adventure planets without an actual adventure?

I'd really like to just edit a planet, add some ancient ruins and some creatures roaming around that people come down and look at.

Another one, can you make custom items? And if so, can you take them with you out of the adventure?

I remember seeing some custom grenades in one video, is it possible to make custom items using the building editor?
And can you "keep" them or are they restricted to that adventure?

I'm probably gonna buy GA next week even if you can't.

Custom grenades? Yes. Building custom stuff with the editor? Yes. Adventures without a goal? Haven't done that yet.
Making custom items? Yes. But you can't take the disguised (enter object here) in the Sporepedia, nor can you take them with you. Only your captain parts can stay with you. Along with all the other items you may have in the Space Stage.

Objective-less missions are possible, as for items, they are made in the building or vehicle editors.

A few items (grenades and health power-ups for example) can be disguised as buildings or vehicles.

Good enough for me, my goal with items you could carry was to make multi-planet adventures.

The idea being that Adventure B cannot start until you have an item from Adventure A. I can probably achieve that by modding it anyways, so I'll pick it up whenever I can.

You cant carry/keep items between adventures. And all adventures start with no prerequisits.

I had already figured that out from the other answers, I was just saying that I can probably make a mod that allows you to keep items.

Just ordered it today since I don't have any gaming stores near, should arrive by mail tomorrow morning.

But I won't be able to play it until Sunday :(

Nope, but that'd be boring anyways. You got the hologram for that.

In other news, I'M GETTING MY SCREEN BACK TOMORROW, I CAN PLAY GA AND CONTINUE MY FORUM GAME AND ****!

I think he meant like, make a zoo planet with no actual purpose other than beaming down and look at a zoo.
