A Day in the Life of Oblivion theSim!
« on: July 11, 2009, 03:33:24 am »
Welcome to my new game, ADitLo Oblivon - The Sim! Here the members of Gamingsteve can guide my Sim counterpart through a long and happy life... or more likely can subject my poor simulated alter-ego to their every sadistic whim.  :D

Let's get a look at what we're dealing with here:

(This is as close as I could get to what I really look like, which is pretty darn close!)

Oh dear... well.. maybe closer up it might look more promising?

Nope, oh well. Perhaps he's more competent then he looks though, or maybe not.
Oblivion is Absentminded, he'll have a hard time remembering what he's doing sometimes.
He's also a Bookworm, often spending time reading that he should using for something productive.
Being a Couchpotatoe is another point against ever getting this guy doing anything useful.
Though he is a Genius(god I felt like an egotistical ***hole picking that trait ::)) which means that is we ever get him to do anything he can put those supposed smarts to work.
Lastly he's a Loner, and doesn't mind not having a social life, which is good because he doesn't have one.

Oblivion's life dream is to be a Professional Author, something that his Bookworm trait will help along.

So will you bring him to riches or ruin? Will Oblivion lead a successful life or wallow in misery as his life collapses around him? It's up to the members of Gamingsteve to decide! But first, we need to decide where he should live.

All come fully furnished! Remember we only have $16,000 to start Oblivion's new life!
1: A 1br, 1ba house on a 19x30 lot that costs us $15,975
2: Another 19x30 1br, 1ba lot that comes in at $12,642
3: This here's a lot with room for expansion! 2br, 1ba on a 30x39 lot, costing us $15,680

Remember that the quality of items in these lots aren't all the same.
((Participating in this game is easier with knowledge of the Sims 3, I won't be giving out a set list of options though I might give suggestions. Almost all of what Oblivion theSim does will suggested free-form by players. For those curious aging will be set at epic. Ask any questions and vote on which of those three lots we should start on, after that we'll get to the real game.))

Go for House #3, that looks good for a loner type guy.

Sorry, I just realized how the title might confuse some into thinking this is about TES IV. Anyways as soon as I get a couple votes I'll start.

And so our bungling hero heads off into the sunset and towards his destiny, his gaze looking onward to his new home with much hope and some fear, but even though he was uncertain of what the future might hold he did not look back.

....

Or maybe he just magically teleported to his sidewalk after his body sculpting and photo shoot. Whatever.

Now at his new home Oblivion theSim looks around, probably for a receipt.

Wait, but what's this? He seems curious about something!

He's pointing! What is it Oblivion? Is it a bird? A plane? Perhaps an attractive young woman or an alien spaceship? A cream-filled snackfood?

...Yes that's a very pretty tower Oblivion, thankyou for sharing. I'm sure it's quite fascinating from where you're standing.

Dejected over my lack of enthusiasm for the tower he found, Oblivion walks into the house and reads a book. A murder story to be exact, that's not ominous at all.

So what should he do now?

You can't get a job at the library.

Go for a writing lesson and the journalism/business place and buy a computer so we can practise writing.

If we must get a job, make it in journalism.

Well it's time for Oblivion to go get a job, so lets go put down the book and get on our way.

Sadly the library doesn't hold Writing classes, but the Office does so we'll go there instead. Coincidentally it's also where we have to go to get hired as a Jour- wait what is he doing?

THIS IS SPARTA!!!

Moving on...

At a cost of $400 we can study writing under some tutors, this will get us enough to gain a level of writing skill which will be handy when we get our job. We'll need a computer to gain more writing skill though.

And finally we get a job, sadly it's not much of one. We aren't even using our writing talents yet, apparently we have to show some modicum of skill before we are trusted to write anything in the newspapers. Dang.

We have a choice on which sort of computer to get:
A crappy basic PC at $800, provides 3 Fun
A just as crappy kid's Spongebo-err Lord Sponge computer, costs $700 and also provides 3 Fun
And a nice but expensive Landgraab Ind. computer costing $2,150, provides 7 Fun

Remember, after the writing classes Oblivion only has $2,958!

After a close vote, the Landgraab computer won. For those more frugal voters who are worried about our financial situation: we have $808 left.

Here's what our money got us!

So Oblivion heads home after a fruitful evening of classes and job hunting, hoping to relax and finish a good drama book. Unfortunately he was about to get his own brand of drama much different then any book as he looked ahead and let out a startled call of warning!

WATCH OUT!

That was ridiculously close, though the jogger seemed oddly calm through it all.

Now Oblivion's at home and safe from the horrible driving of Sunset Valley Taxi Drivers and wondering what to do.

Any advice for him?

Sorry about the delay, my grandma has Monday-Wednesdays off so I've been spending today with her mostly. Specifically we've been playing Lego Star Wars for the Wii, it's been quite amusing seeing normally well-coordinated Jedi fail at jumping and end up falling to their deaths. (Specifically Obi-wan, that's who she normally controls.)

Otherwise my time has gotten snagged by Dwarf Fortress. I swear I'll get one adventurer to legendary some day! Expect an update maybe tonight, but most likely tomorrow.

Sorry for the delay, I forgot about this for awhile and when I remembered and came back I found that my save file was accidentally removed. I've been telling myself that I would restart and bring the game back to that point but kept putting it off. There might be a vague chance that I eventually do start another game and get back to updating this but that chance is quite small.

For now, consider this abandoned. I apologize to those that enjoyed this.

But Veraal fails them on purpose because he's a sadistic son of a bitch who takes pleasure from torturing innocent children under 14 by killing metagames they follow.
