« on: July 06, 2009, 12:14:50 pm »
this is based of a dream I had (and a rather dreadfull one). sort of a combination of the thing and pitch black. trying a different flavor for how you interact with the character though.

a strange creature of unknown origin attacked a polar reasearch team. some members were killed, some were afflicted, and slowly turned into one of them, and their minds and body changed. before they lost their minds to the beast, they returned home. it spread throughout the town.

you where one of the survivors, holding up in a safehouse with some other survivorse. but you where recently  afllicted by a sneakattack in which you were cut off from the group. you will slowly morph, internaly and mentaly.

the job of you guys is not just to tell him what to do, but to keep him from losing his mind. the poll will just determines what action you want him to take, and what you post can affect him in other ways.

No, kill 7 of them, and eat them in front of the other six.

Eat three in front of the first three. Do this every time another three come back to camp, then kill the last group.

after urges to kill those around you start to trouble your mind, you choose to go to sleep.

you are then woken with the return of the scouting party that left. only five of the sixed had returned. they say they were investigating an abondoned building when they were jumped. you sense something odd about one of them: he's not quite human either; he's your kin.

LETS NOT MUTATE FURTHER BECAUSE THAT SEEMS LIKE A BAD IDEA

(you cant just decide to stop mutating)

because your ordeal must have been traumatizing (your whole team getting wiped out) the crew makes you a nice warm meal (chicken soup).

another group is sent out. a few hours later, they come back ,and got a good haul of supplies, including some weapons. one of them recovered your rifle. its dark out now.

after everyone falls asleep, you stay awake. the influence on your mind is too great. you lash out and attack another survivor. however, this alerts the night watch, and they rush in. one crack you across the face with the butt of their rifle, and the other shoots you in the chest.

later you wake up; they had thrown you into the street to die, but the beasts had found you, and took you to their den. you are surrounded by them, but they arent hostile. you look down: you are far into your transformation

(new poll, by the way)

because your in a hospital, scissors are easy to find. you try to hack off your claws (most of your fingers). you start bleeding uncontrollably, and pass out for a bit. when you wake up, the bleeding has stopped, but the transformation has proggresed

status
location: hospital

sphysical transformation: 43%

your skeletal system is shifting, your jaw elongating. your skin has hardened into boney plates. your spine is jutting outward with a row of spiney bones. you are finding it difficult to balance on two legs.

your teeth have grown sharp and venomous, and you have two rows of them; they can afflict others

your fingers have grown into claws which have melded together

your eyes are  solid yellow,  and you have strong night vision, but are sensative to light

you have significantly enhanced strength

you heal rapidly

We should become an ally of the humans by hunting other beasts. Then when they are trusting us, KILL THEM IN THEIR SLEEP

you go hunting beasts. with your atunned senses, you return to a nest, and proceed to slash a beasts head off. luckily, this nest is nearly empty, and only a few respond. you cut them down as well, using you superior intelect; they have gone insane and cannot strategize. hopefully you will avoid such a fate

your skeletal system has shifted, your jaw elongating. your skin steadily peeling off, to show bony plates beneath. your spine is jutting outward with a row of spiney bones.

you are finding it difficult to balance on two legs, and instead it is easier to almost scamper across the ground.

your teeth have grown sharp and venomous, and you have two rows of them; they can afflict others

your hands have turned into a pair of claws and a half foot long, blade-like apendage

your eyes are  solid yellow,  and you have strong night vision, but are sensative to light

you have greatly enhanced strength

you heal rapidly

Try making contact with humans. They are smart and contact with them will prevent going bat**** insane. Try slowly walking towards them, when you see them making aggressive movement, bow down or something to show obedience.

There's no cure for the affliction, such as it is. This presents two options.

1. We turn into one of those pathetic things, and lose our minds.
2. We commit suicide so there's one less for the survivors to deal with.
3. We try and take down as many people as possible, because we're an arse.

But we can apparently be one of these things AND remain sane, thus be a valuable asset to the humans.

I demand pictures (even crappy MS paint ones) to show the transformation thus far. Also you should try and communicate with the humans and show them you mean no harm. Try and show them that you are intelligent.

you seek out some humans. you obviously cant return to your first group, because you attacked them so you will have to find another group.

you pick up the trail of one. about 8 of them have gathered in the towns central park. you wait on the outskirts of the park, spying. half of them are resting, and two are on guard. the others seem to be managing their supplies.

no picture of the beasts, but here is a simple map of the nearby town area:

you take the head of a beast you had killed and throw it toward the human camp. startled, one stands up, screams, and trips, knocking over one of their tents.

the guards have raised their guns. you slowly step forward from the trees. they are unsure what to do. you lower yourself to the ground, and crawl toward them, as least threteningly as possible.

your at their camp now, and they dont know how to react. one guard lowers his gun and backs away, the other trembles and stands still.

plot hole here: the group sort of exepts you, cause your docile; you do have sleep in a seperate area, and they will keep you moderatly restrained incase you become hostile.

the group is asleep now, exept for one guard anthony, who is tired, and only half watching. its very late. you detect several beasts, gliding toward the camp, hiding amongst the trees.....

fine then here is that same thing with more detail:

you sniff the air; the fowel stench of the beasts grows near. a cool fog is lowering from the night sky. you creep forward withought a sound. you see it. your instincts are running wild. you charge in! for a just a monement the beast looks straight at you, and then you lob its head off. the other two come at you, but with a vertical leap and spin, you slice them down as well
