Arma 2
« on: June 09, 2009, 03:38:47 pm »
So, yeah. Armed Assault(Arma, go figure.) 1 was pretty sad game, now Arma 2 is out.

Arma 1 showed a lot of promise, and it did have a lot of potential, but it's not exactly a smooth game in the sense that it is playable, some of the missions require you to have the iq of all people combined, or an incredible amount of luck, like me. I made it through a lot of the missions that I now simply cannot do.

I wonder if Arma 2 is better, though it would be hard to do worse than Arma 1.

Anyone getting it?

I am.

Here's the official website.

Looks like the shakycam could get you sick.

Well, I am optimistic about this game, because it's been quite some time since I've cared about a new game coming out.

Got it just to see what it was.

Pretty hard game to understand.. no minimap or anything available and I dont get the orders I have. Also the game has some weird default key commands.

Does indeed look promising but not really my cup of tea at this point.

Longly awaits flashpoint 2.

I suppose it's funny that you posted after me, because you are also female.  How coincidental.

That was the problem with all the Flashpoint games.  AI being able to snipe you at a klick, at night, hidden in bushes, with a pistol, while running.  Arma 2 looks really good, but alas, I hear it still has horrible playability, and AI that use hax.

Shaky cam just ruins it for me, as well as unclear objectives and AI that seems to aim far too well.
The best person ever.  She should have won the Peace Prize.

What? No full control over children? You do realize that some of us have particular plans for those children.

AI is much better than arma 1 or ofp if i lay down in the grass i'm alot less likely to be seen and shot, if i take one or two shots the AI will shoot at me but most of the time it'll just be supressing fire if i am hidden. I mean if you are engaged IRL you usually get a good idea of where the incoming fire is from so you would tend to lay down fire in that direction. (Maybe the one that irritates me is the lack of use of screening smoke by the AI) Unless i do somthing monumentally stupid like lay down on a runway or road with no cover i tend not to be sniped by an AI "at a klick, at night, hidden in bushes, with a pistol." I think the game pushes realism too far in some places and not enough in others. But having said that it's a powerful game and rather enjoyable.

Oh and headbob and post processing canbe turned off!

The Campaign isn't all that good, but the multiplayer is great.

Just a example of a multiplayer game.

Looks rather slow, like a real war. In terms of gameplay, that's usually a bad thing.

I have only heard about it, seems kind of fun though will probably pick up Arma2 whenever it goes on a super sale.
No, no, he did. In the everything else section, at least. Officially, this makes him king.

If you have someone to play it with it's definitely worth it.
