Yeah, I know what you mean. You captured that fine line between being interesting enough by being alien yet being familiar enough to be endearing. I mean, you could create the histories of a sapient gaseous life-form whose emotions were too alien for us to understand, and although it'd be cool, we couldn't exactly relate to it.

Thats what I tried with my creature. I think I got like 5 replies..... I don't like how people only like things they can relate to.
Really? I'd like to see this. Can I get a link?

The title is kind of misleading, Naucean isn't exactly your "new creature" anymore Hydro  ;D

A lot of other factors work into that too. You need a solid and tangible creature design that looks good too. For the most part it's difficult to replicate what Hydro did because we don't have the feedback we did back in the old days of Gaming Steve so that contributes a lot too.

THAT'S IT! I'm doing what's been done with the Naucean to my Oilphans. I'm going to be the #2 most popular creature of Spore, I know I'll never beat the Naucean.

This is a work of genius by the way.

Thank you for the fanart :D

Now then, how many times is it we've been over this?

I am never changing it because it has been deemed a historical site :P

hey what drawing program do you use?

I think I'm going to make a cartoon comic book like thing about my planet. Here's hoping I get to the level of historic interest as you.

Oh, and If I ever get around to it, I'm making an animation of Nauceans or something. There just so perfect for making movies out of in XSI. Very simple to model so very easy to make fan videos out of.

UPDATE:
BIG LOTS OF PICTURES, SORRY FOR EPICNESS.
Here Ya Go. Put it up on the front page if you like it. Took me 4 hours, but totally worth it. When I learn how to make animations in XSI, I'll do some movies on them.
Note: I'm making a few other things so it will be a while if I ever get around to it

That's the best 3D rendering of a Naucean I've seen so far.

BTW, let's not get carried away with your motives rob. The CC is pretty much dead so it will be extremely difficult to get feedback and attention here.

A) Thank you.

B) CC?

C) LOL, it's not like it'll be War of the World or something. It's a hobby. I make 3d movies when I'm bored. It's not like I'm Spielberg, lol. I hope to work at Valve one day and these are just little things I make floating around the internet that I'll make into a portfolio or something one day. Besides, I'm a free mason of sorts. all my work is not copy written and is completely free. (for now  ;))

But thank you for you comment. ;D

meh, I try. The legs were confusing, so I tried to adjust it to my level of experience with XSI. Probably could have done better.

is this better? (NOTE: Leg not smoothed out, still balky a but)

UPDATE: Color'd. GOOD?
