He said new areas, not new maps there's a difference. We will just need to dig out another neither rail for 1.9. :P

It's Nether like the Netherlands, not neither like neither this nor that, by the way. Just sayin', Jack Zetter never realized that Beyon wasn't Beyond until someone pointed it out  ;)

Is there any way to create boundaries for a restart in 1.8? A map edge which can be extended if you choose to do so?

The map of Faffington is already 475 mb. Do we really want to go larger? The update may be out on Monday so we need a plan.

Well i think we have three options when 1.8 hits: 1) Make a new map. 2)Stay put for now, use Nether tunnel to get to new area and new map for 1.9. 3) Faffington Forever! Make Map Bigger until it crushes itself with it's own weight.  Someone set up the poll.

New Map!
Probably not a Goat, either.

While I'd hate to see Faffington (and Subterra) go I'm in favour of a new map.
There is, of course, a difference between having a laugh with someone, and having a laugh at their expense

The Nether tunnel idea is silly. It's just going to hurt us in the long run if we keep stringing this map along.

We've switched maps before and we've left behind our massive accomplishments before. And every time we make something bigger and better with what we learned from the previous map. A new map can only lead to good things.

Minecraft 1.8 Pre-release: assets.minecraft.net/1_8-pre/minecraft.jar

Just download the jar and replace the 1.7.3 one with the one you downloaded :D

Another option for a new map: Use an editor to copy/paste a small part (e.g. just faffington and/or surrounding areas) over to a new 1.8 map.
