Uh, yeah? The worst that could happen is that you dislike a little mod and have to uninstall it.

What's the risk?
No way dude, you're trolling me.

Wondering if its worth installing. Because last time I tried to install a mod, it didn't work at all and I'm still trying to figure out what went wrong.

Also, this:

Quote from: Notch
Warning: Some malicious client mods are stealing passwords

When you install a mod, the mods gets full access to your computer, and can do ANYTHING to it.
Make sure you absolutely trust the source before installing any such mods. This applies to both server mods and client mods.

I don’t know which mods are the culprits.

When the modding support is added, there will be support for sandboxing mods to give them less access to important stuff. You can chose to trust a mod if you want to, and if it needs to do fancy things, but the default will be to run the mod sandboxed.

It's not like the mod is actually going to display in bright-red text "YOUR PASSWORD HAS BEEN STOLEN. IT WILL BE SOLD ON THE INTERNET." A mod could be very playable, and still steal your account details.

I saw about a dozen mini slimes in someones public mine on multiplayer once. They scared one of the guys down there. I don't think he liked slimes much, but I don't like monsters in general, 'specally in a cavern.

I've been reading some unconfirmed posts here and there that version 1.3 brought with it some issues for an undetermined amount of people. I saw one post claiming that the game now sends too many packets, and others that insist that running a server on your own machine is and has always been a pretty lousy setup.
Looked into Minecraft server hosts. Costs a little bit to maintain. Not really worth it for a community of our size, certainly not at the amount people tend to play when interest peters out; need a good supply of new dev to maintain interest and it simply doesn't happen anymore.
Inviting more people or going public brings with it some headaches I and others tend not to like, despite the fun times that were had in the past.

I'll be playing the waiting game anyway, and reading up a bit more.

EDIT: Yeah, I saw someone else selling merchandise. Pretty sweet idea to bring in more dough.

I just download the Mine Colony mod, very tedious and nerve wracking making sure I didn't do nothing wrong. The result? Mods do make Minecraft better. ;D
