Holy content update, Manbat!

Quote
But! We (especially Jens) have added a bunch of new content to Minecraft that we want to get out asap, so there will be a content patch update next week with a whole pile of fun new toys, including a water mob and quite possibly paint if we can figure out how exactly it should work.

How music blocks will work, from Twitter:

right click to tune (2 octaves). Left click or redstone trigger to play. The material under the block sets the instrument

So I will be able to make a bunch of pressure plates that will play the Imperial March as the creeper runs at me over them? Cool!

I bet that one could use a keyboard arrangement with an easily-usable 15 or 16 keys each, arranged using levers and footplates around the player. Several people could play these at once I bet, that would be so cool!

I wonder if the new save files format Notch is going to implement will be backwards compatible.

Do you mean, will the new saves work on older versions, or will old saves work on newer versions?

I highly doubt it will be the former, unless someone makes a mod.  Most likely it will be the latter.  He's changed the save format before, and it didn't break anything.  He should be able to do it again.

He mentioned in his tweets that old saves will be converted to the new format the first time they're loaded.
