Ok, now he definetly needs to add Herobrine.

Or at least his lesser evil step-sister.

The right-half of that picture is awesome.
No, no, he did. In the everything else section, at least. Officially, this makes him king.

I am really against the lantern idea.

Just keep torches the way they are, I don't want to have to replace them all...

Not to mention that it would really suck having to make lanterns for my entire cave complex.

Well, GET USED TO IT.

Yeah. eropS, layin down the law.

Plus, it's much more realistic to have a longer lasting lantern than week lasting torches.

I am eagerly anticipating temporary torches. Also, as a trade off, I've read that he's planning on adding light from torches without placing them.

Wait, so he's adding torches that you carry and the lighting moves with you?
I thought the system was too limited for that.

Then again, he never said he wasn't gonna work on the lighting system some more.
It's the liquids system that we're stuck with.. but anyway.
I don't mind lanterns or torches going out. Torches should last awhile anyway. I just wonder how strong the light source will be, or if there will ever be alternative light sources that cast farther.

He said he planned on adding it down the line, since it was such a popular request. And I think that lanterns will probably have a much greater radius than torches.

Haven't posted here in quite some time. Gauph commented on a video of mine(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7ICu5empps) which he found through a post on Kotaku(http://kotaku.com/5654471/left-4-dead-meets-minecraft), so I decided to come here and visit. I'm actually going to be playing the survival map in L4D2 with Notch, Chet Faliszek, and David Jaffe when it's done. Iff you have any questions you want to ask Notch, PM me them.

Anyways, just stopping in and checking up on everything. Minecraft has grown so much since I first played it. It's pretty incredible how quickly it grew.

So this is where I had heard the name Miclee before...huh. Cool! Nice job there.

Also, people here that the next update is at the end of October and they get even /more/ bitchy towards notch, instead of happy that the update was announced at all.

I am really against the lantern idea.

Just keep torches the way they are, I don't want to have to replace them all...

The logical thing to do here would be to change the current torch object (item 50) to the lantern object. All current torches become lanterns. Change the current recipe to make item 50, now lanterns. Now add a new item (# ???) to be the new torches since they will require special coding anyhow.

From that you will not have to replace all your torches in the current system. If you are smart you will stockpile a crapload of easy to make torches now so you have a ton of lanterns when the system flips over.

If Notch doesn't do that, we can all laugh mightily as people burn down their wooden houses when they mis-click trying to relight the torches.
