...
That said, I was thinking we could rebuild a little, or add some better structure to our settlement, with actual houses and such. Might need a lot of flattening of the land, moving mountains and such.
Otherwise, we could settle in another nearby patch of land.
I know we're missing quite a few blocks from creative at the moment, but we can make do.

I was actually thinking the same thing. At some point I wanted to wall off the library and the reed farm that Tesla and I created. If you guys wanted that could be the center attraction... >_>

After looking at the map, I noticed a few things. The area outlined in red is pretty level with only a few minor hills. It also happens to be the general area that most of our current structures are situated (excluding PatManistan and those castles higher up on the hills). We could really get a nice walled off settlement building something along those blue lines. There would still be plenty of room for more buildings such as houses. Another plus is that it's very close to the spawning point, almost within sight right off the bat.

If we were looking to start fresh, the area within the black circle would probably be a nice place. It looks decently level, although there are a few hills. But it's naturally defensible thanks to the surrounding water, and it even has a nice little lake. I could already see a nice metropolis growing there.

But you mentioned structure, and I was wondering the same thing. Would you guys want to setup some sort of basic building code? I don't want to limit anyone's creativity, but I think a settlement or city would look nicer if the buildings had a general look rather than a bunch of random structures. What are your thoughts?

Maybe we use the current building area as the "creative" building area and move somewhere else for the settlement.

im staying in my little mountain thank you very much

really though, being level isnt nececary at all, unless if you only make square box buildings  :-\
just be a bit creative with the areas you get.

theres some pretty cool mountains up there, maybe we can shove something between them

That's the thing, I'm only suggesting this if we were to try and set up a settlement. I just assumed that Gauph wanted to create a walled city, something similar to that giant castle someone was building over on the Minecraft forums. I could be wrong though.

Sorry, I overslept by like three hours.
The server is back up and I think I'll leave it up while I go to work in a few hours here.
If it starts going all weird though, you're unfortunately SOL 'til I get back. Should last quite awhile if we don't get like 20 people playing it like that first day.

That was a fun day though.  :)
