Yeah, people's awareness of Minecraft has really exploded since getting on PCGamer.com and Valve's blog.

And I thought I was pushing it by ordering the game late and being around the 500th person to buy the game!  Good job, Notch!

That's awesome.  And if Notch wasn't being sarcastic on twitter, real powered minecarts are on the slate for tomorrow's Secret Friday update.

Man, that's pretty sweet the attention this thing is getting.
Hope we get some more cool and creative folks joining up making all sorts of crazy projects.

They are new and different than us. We must subjugate them and ensure that they know we are the ones in charge. After that, we kill them all.

I dont think we will get nice people but idoits because all the commets i read on TF2 Forums, Kotaku Comments, and others is mostly stuff like this.

"Can anyone tell me the point of this game?

Do you win? Do you lose? Why do you have hearts; can you die?

This makes no sense at all why i would pay for this when all you do is sit in a minecart with zero gameplay.... "
(After watching Minecart video on Kotaku)

And on TF2 Forums.

"This is stupid, Theres no torches and minecart ects in this game!"

Daily Record Minecraft preview

This one is one of the better recent previews of Minecraft.  The Valve one was more like, "Herp, play minecraft, it's cool, Derp!" and showed a picture of the TF2 minecraft map.  The PCGamer one was an interview with Notch, and was more of an inside look at a game you already knew about, linking to the valve blog.  Kotaku just said a lot of people were buying the game thanks to the new publicity from PCGamer and Valve, and showed the popular minecart video.

None gave a good account of what minecraft actually is.  And minecraft.net certainly doesn't because before, he was just relying on good old word of mouth advertising.  But now with actual endorsements by places like PCGamer, Kotaku, and Valve, Notch has to change the website to contain more information on what the game actually IS.  The minecart video doesn't cut it.  Someone needs to make a tutorial video about what minecraft is.

What's a good program for vid capping minecraft?

EDIT:  Also...I forgot to add...
For all those commenting who "don't get it..." I wish they would use some brain power and try to figure out that there has to be a reason the game is so popular, and so many people are buying it.  Something beyond what you're seeing in one video.

Hey, fun thing to think about, with the current number of sales, Notch has made more than $300,000 off of minecraft so far.

Not bad for a year's work.
