I miss infiniminer.  I don't know why, but I always prefered its graphics style and atmosphere.

Don't know if the original Infiniminer installers or executables are available, but I still have them on my other drive if they're needed.

I've been playing a bit of Minecraft recently. I know Notch is gonna be breaking everyone's savegames soon, but it's fine. I'm just messing around anyway.

I've always enjoyed making large chambers in the mountain or deep underground. It's strangely appealing to me.
If you're gonna mine out rock, you might as well make the holes look interesting I guess.
Notice the tunnel dead ahead. It goes for a long distance.

That's my base from a shore where my tunnel exits.

I'll be digging deeper and starting new chambers and tunnels soon.

EDIT: Alright. So apparently Notch updated just this very moment.
Quote
* Water is prettier now. You can see which direction the current is flowing
* Regional caves. Some areas have a lot, some have very few.
* Naturally occuring (but buggy) lava
* Flowers and mushrooms
* Springs can be generated under ground, causing underground rivers. Both water and lava

I need to work on speeding the game up now, Ive been cramming too much stuff in. ;)

So I went ahead and genned a new map.
And I think I found a nice place to live.

The caves are different now too. Awesomer. I was just chopping down trees when I found a big entrance to a massive maze of caves.
No way dude, you're trolling me.

Trees seem to be kinda weird. Trunk doesn't extend up into the leaves; it just stops at the leaf height.
Not a terrible issue though.

God, I want multiplayer so bad. Grrarrelsfj

I'm thinking he did that on purpose.   Probably getting ready to implement a new branch block.

Yeah, you might be right. He's due to re-implement those cool trees from before.
I guess the random hanging stumps in the leaves was a bit too strange.

EDIT:
Notch posted a rough sample of his map viewer.
Here's a pic I took of my the map with the tower.

Oh, is that what happened?
I was wondering what that was about. I just assumed I somehow died while paused... at some point. I dunno.

Well, good to know then.

You know what I wish?  I wish that torches would cast light even when you're holding them, rather than having to put them down.  Would make exploring caves a lot easier.

Time to get out my wallet and buy this little gem.

Wow, that's a hell of an update.
Notch makes Jorb and Loftar from Haven and Hearth look like total chumps.

Quote
+ Caves are much more interesting now, specifically:
+ Rooms now have 1-5 exits, instead of just 1, making natural hubs.
+ Caves are even more regional, with truly swiss cheese areas being possible (but rare)
+ Springs (water and lava) are more common
+ Increased variety in tunnel thickness, increasing the odds of branches
+ Added natural gravel and dirt under ground for more varied caves
+ Made surface springs more common. Surface lava springs are possible, but uncommon
+ Lava + water = rock
+ Lava springs never spread. You can pick them up with buckets, but never clone them.
+ Lava spring + water = obsidian
+ Getting the player stuck inside ground will obscure the view and slowly suffocate the player
* Water flows nicer, making it easier to make water slides
* Fixed a few bugs in liquid spreading code
* Fixed invisible waterfalls
* Made massive tweaks to the pending tile tick logic (used for liquids and fire), quite possibly fixing a crash bug

EDIT:
Not related to the recent updates, but man, these flat plains and rolling hills just keep going.
Where my mountains at?

Guess I can't complain too much about it though. It does look quite nice.
Why, you could spot your enemy coming for miles.

So am I not the only one who can't seem to get any crazy cool looking mountains?
Nobody on the forums seem to be complaining.

Might just be my location.
It's fine though. I'm gonna make a castle.
Also, a very deep pit.
