Hey Celdur, I modded your castle a bit, mostly just little things like structural reinforcement and things, but I did make a small hall. Maybe if the roof is heightened, it could be a banquet hall. I'm still not entirely used to the way Minecraft works. I hope the author implements more Dwarf Fortress-y things soon (i.e. farming, actual mining, livestock, enemies, economics, etc).

Perhaps map trading and modding is the most simple form of multiplayer in this game.

He posted another interesting update on his blog.
http://notch.tumblr.com/

We have fast-moving water.
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UmFipEZxlew" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UmFipEZxlew</a>
Though it flies out at such a speed, you'd think he'd busted the base of a massive dam.
But whatever. He's on the right track. I just hope he makes it so water drains down and out rather than replicate in adjacent spaces.

He made some notes about multiplayer and level's size/optimizations.
Apparently sand and gravel will move down if you dig beneath them. I just wonder if it could potentially smother you.

Yeah, I like hazards.

Here are some screens of my first level.

It's not one big structure, but a whole bunch of smaller ones spread around the island. There are a lot of flooded caves too :D

You can play it here: LINK!

I can still load Celdur's level just fine (Nice additions, by the way ;)), but loading Skyward's level just causes the game to generate a random map. Odd...

EDIT: Oh, now Skyward's level works too! What did you change?

I had "name=Skyward" not "user=skyward"

I plan on adding more to it every now and again.

As you should :P
It looks pretty interesting so far. Should be fun to play in once all the planned features for Minecraft are implemented.

Alright, I had a change of heart.  :D

Remember my banquet hall? Well, I thought Celdur's fort was lacking a water supply (an important resource for a besieged fort), so I converted my prototypical hall into a primitive water system. There are large stone stairs leading underground into a cave system. These caves are shaped into a U, with water outlets at both ends. The openings are too small for anyone to fit through, and the current prevents small-scale contamination for lasting.

I'll make this fortress defensible yet!

I know, just helping out!  ;) I compliment you on your expansive and well thought out designs, and the fort looks magnificent from a distance.

I'm just a very defensive builder, is all.

^- My mod. The walls have been strengthened, the entrance to what I assume is the quarry has been changed, my aforementioned water system, and some minor changes to the bottom of the towers.

I'm trying to think of a good way to implement farm patches, considering they'd need sunlight. I thought building them atop the towers would be the most logical answer, but I had a hard time finding a way to get back up to them. My attempts at this are not saved to the above map.

Yeah, I thought the implementation of the pillar was a little clunky on my part, but it just seems so strange to have that overhang just floating without any support.

And please, regale me with your ideas for agricultural establishments within your fortifications.
