LadyM's server seems oddly unstable tonight. Lots of disconnects and such. Anything up?

Well, I'm overdue for yet another pointless death.

So, three things:

1. Chunk errors, everywhere I go. It's like I'm causing them or something.

2. I am surprised at what I can do in Beta with just an hour's time. Infinite water spring, even!

3. I LOVE THE RAIIIIINNN!!!

I'm going to be traveling again soon so I'm going to shut the server down for a bit. I think we could all use a break anyway. You have about 24 hours to finish up things and then I'll turn it off.

New blog post on the Adventure update:

Since 1.8 is still a significant time away, we’re going to have to stop being as secretive about it as we have. We’ll provide information about it as we go, but we’ll keep actual details secret. So, for example, we could say “added two new colors” without saying which ones, or “testing experience and leveling to see if it’s fun” without giving details on exactly how it works.

The update is pretty big, and will change a lot of how Minecraft is played, focusing on making exploration and combat much more rewarding, and bringing in a bigger sense of adventure to the game.

Already implemented are new complex terrain features, at least one new mob, some interesting new combat mechanics, a new lighting engine, and some experimental new gameplay ideas. To come is more interesting farming, bigger incentives to explore, and npc villages.

I always wanted experience and leveling in minecraft.  Notch didn't think it would be very fun so he didn't bother before.  I think not having any real gameplay and needing it changed his mind.  It still might not be fun and they'll end up not adding it, but I hope they do a good job.
