So I put this really long ridiculous string of letters in as the seed, and this is what was right next to the spawn:

a big hole with no stone, but non-stone ores are visible. There also appears to be no bedrock at the bottom. A funny loading error, it seems.

I extracted the seed, and all I got was a normal level. I think what I got was a severe glitch. The number extracted seed is -1076631284, but what I put was basically pounding the keyboard.

Looks like an unloaded chunk to me. Dunno why you'd get that in single player though.

We're getting trap doors possibly in the next update. And as I hoped, players in the Nether are not required to use a bed to advance time in Multiplayer.

Flisch and I have finished our mob spawner, which we've been working on based on the plans here; It's at the bottom of the mine at the foot of my house, to the left of faffington's rock.

That's a bit grassy for a wild west... not that there's different kinds of sand or anything. Red/orange sand would be neat. Half tempted to make a mod of just decorative/worldgen stuff but I don't even know the first thing about modding.
