I've never not spawned on a beach... kind of wouldn't mind getting an inland spawn.

Tried six times - all inland, traveled on each for ten minutes. >.> Probably something on my end. Anyways, its pretty much unplayable for me until Notch optimizes.

How about when multiplayer is released we make a city like Venice that uses waterways instead of roads and aqueducts to connect to other places. Unless the mine carts get motors or something.

Or whichever mode of transportation gets the ability to transport items unattended first. I'd like to see the ability to pave a trail between distant places with rails and then send mine carts back and forth with goods. Send up ores and other raw materials from the mine without having to find your way back. Send down new equipment, food and armor down, without ever leaving the safety of the town.

I think at this point it would be generally safer to go with anything travelling distances anyways. What would be a really nice reason to make an aqueduct is some reason that you couldn't simply carry any water that you need. Then the construction of an aqueduct specifically would be needed. We could also still design some sort of quick transport method for spelunking teams. It's all a bit silly though when it can be done so much easier manually.

So I was mining downwards and hit the bottom of the world. I fell a little and died. I lost a diamond, some iron ore and bars, and 2 iron picks :(

I hate falling out of the bottom of the world... though part of me wishes I could make a little fort down there. Maybe some kind of simple observation platform. You know, in case of Balrogs.

After Notch added boats, I got the idea to make a waterslide-like thingy (very original, I know :P). It took a while, since I'm not too good with building, and I had to experiment a bit with getting the water right.
But this is the result:

Overview. The right waterfall is the way up, the part on the left is the slide down.

A sideview of the way down. I decided to make it multiple steps, because it seemed more fun than just a drop down.

A view more from the top. You can see each step doesn't have one square high water, because the boat would break then when it hit the bottom. To solve that, I build blocks at the bottom of the waterfall, causing the water to flow over it. When you remove that block, the water flow doesn't change, so it's two blocks high then. Rinse, repeat for the entire slide.

And finally, a look down the drop. The top of the slide is in the cloud layer, so occasionally it suddenly gets foggy :)

I'm curious to see what kind of waterslides you guys are going to build :)

I already did, a few times. The first few times I wrecked the boat >_>
But yeah, if you go fast enough, you'll skip one of the steps :)
