The demo is out for this on the 360 and PS3. I just played it and it is awesome. There is nothing more satisfying then bringing down building with a hammer.

I hated that it was a single player demo. It wasn't even a taste is was slowly drifting waft of epicness.

I remember seeing my cousin play the first Red Faction, of course, I don't really remember any of it, except I believe it was in first person back then.

I am going to try the demo, see if its any good.

No not at all. All three focus on different characters and settings. They common theme is some sort of revolution. The first one was a workers revolution on mars to overthrow an oppressive mining company. The second was basically a revolt to overthrow a totalitarian government using super soldiers. This third one goes back to mars where the EDF (Earth Defense Force) takes over and they were the good guys in the first one. They turn to an oppressive rule. Also during the time between the first and third one Mars was terraformed.

Wow i just tried this and i am pretty impressed.

If the weapons, vehicles, physics, destructible terrain and cover system all carry over to the multiplayer then this will be one badass game.

Not interested any more. They took out vehicles and the cover system from mulitplayer claiming the back pack systems makes up for it. So pretty much its just another mindless carnage multiplayer game like halo :(.

Maybe the multiplayer demo will change my mind but its looking pretty bleak.

Meh, no vehicles is kinda annoying but they would be pretty OP if they were added. As for the cover system, I barely used it in SP.
The backpacks seem fun, I mean, come on, what seems more fun than running through a building?

So really, I think the MP will be fine, then again, I love the "mindless carnage game" Halo. If not, the campaign will more than make up for it, I have played the single player demo about once a day now. >_>

Now that I've tried it I'm kinda disappointed in the MP Demo. It doesn't seem as fun as the single player. Could be that game mode isn't that great.

I was wrong, The mutiplayer is actually pretty in depth. It feels pretty rewarding when i can take on 4 enemy's and come out on top becuase i fought smarter.

I don't much care for that game mode though. It takes too much coordination with your teammates and you just cant get that kind of teamwork in a demo.

I will likely get this for the multiplayer. The singleplayer is unappealing.

One time i did get a good team that talked and worked together. It worked really well because then we always made sure to have one defender at each point. We dominated that game. But that is the only game i have been in so far that people talked.

The singleplayer is actually really good and obviously the multiplayer is great.

The single player grabbed me though. I hate one man army games (where a single guy takes on the world alone and wins like in Halo)

In red faction the world is complete free roam. You can do whatever you want whenever you want. Your objective is to do things that reduce the EDFs control over each sector. Anyway one of the things you can do is raise morale in each sector. If you do this colonists will take up arms and fight alongside you. But even better if morale is really high they will even drive to a location where you are in trouble and assist you.

That to me is a fantastic game mechanic. They have helped me countless times. Obviously they wont beta the game for you but they are a great help. And most of all they give a perception of reality. If i am taking on everything alone it breaks any immersion i had. But fighting along side the guerrillas is realistic and immersive.

Well, I have no real "review".

the only thing i find somewhat irksome is that buildings (unless they are vital to missions) do not respawn.

But really, the game is great, the gun play works out well, The makes some really astounding vistas made out of the dreariness of mars, and of course, the destruction is nearly flawless, meaning that occasionally, there will the a second story of a building being help up by a single support beam.

The game is full of near cinematic (yest most likely coincidental) moments. For example, i was trying to get some hostages out of a huge excavation site. Just as we were about to die, a truck load of guerrillas drives down the cliff and all of them pour out and shoot at the EDF guards. we slip into the truck and make a clean getaway! :D

I don't know if it changes, but its at the mohole.

i've been playing this game

it fills me with rage

it fills me with rage that missions are retardedly hard and the tasks usually are impossible to do without dying several times

it fills me with rage that enemies magically know thats you in the car 1000 miles away and should call in every god damn guy in the zone to muck up your day

it fills me with rage that their is that cheating gun that makes the bullets chase you and every single guy has it

it fills me with rage that the sniper rifle gun doesnt even zoom in defeating the ability to pick off targets before crashing a vehicle into a building to smack it with explosives and hope to not die

the AI fills me with rage being incredibly dumb on my side while the enemy actually can figure out to not stand next to my bombs

it fills me with rage that they expect me to kill a plethora of tanks using nothing but my own arsenal of weapons while the tanks just steam roll past you and you cant catch up to them

....RAAAAAAAAAAAAGE

ok im done

You wont accomplish anything playing master chief rambo in gears of war land. And you're not supposed to, get in, blow **** up, get out. Don't try to fight 1000 billion soldiers alone. Also make sure to get the loyalty up, the NPC allies coming to your aid is a lifesaver and often aids in your escapes.

only problem is lets say I want to go blow up a high priority target so I casually go up to it in a civilian car get out pull out that worthless nano rifle that cant kill a guy for crap look for guards by the time I see them they have magically known I was their and called in 1000 billion soldiers armed with that auto seeking gun that kills me in under 5 seconds with level 2 armor not to mention the stupid marauders or sand raiders, whatever the hell they are like to team up with them and for some reason are clustered all inside one of their barracks just chilling out with them so even if i get inside the building to heal they go balls crazy on me with their jedi powers to block bullets with a metal spear.

I wouldn't mind the game if I actually could get a sniper rifle with a scope and enemies that didn't have the eyes of jesus christ himself

and that liberation mission for oasis with the 30 billion tanks you have to kill while hundreds of soldiers with that stupid gun are everywhere while your trying to stop the bloody things from reaching the building

I'm only going to finish this game to spite it and banish it to the never want to do again box

Do what I did.  Play though on easy.  It is way more fun that way because you can shenanigan around and do stuff like assault a fort by flying dukes of hazard style through a wall.

It becomes less about surviving and more about how to be as awesome as possible.

The nano rifle is useful for when there are no enemies around and you want to creatively deconstruct something. Against hunams it is rather useless.

I suggest a hammer.

On an unrelated sidenote, if you try meleeing with the mines while you have no mines, you punch.

You can still easily bust though brick walls like this.

It get's especially fun once you've unlocked some cheats and whatnot.

Oh the antics.

Also, I love those two skyscrapers in... Eos was it?  There should've been more huge buildings like that.

Don't you get a mech for the Oasis liberation mission anyways?

Cant remember.  But that's one of my only annoyances with the game.  You can never find mechs outside of missions.  I can understand them being rare, but they don't show up at all.

after I killed the last tank I found the mech hiding, I was quite angry

then I found 2 actual sniper rifles...but seriously you only get a long range weapon in the last area?

whatever I beat the game had a good laugh at it saying I can now play insane mode and then promptly uninstalled
