But I think a little part of me would be happier if this was just Will's triumphant escape from corporate megalomaniacal overlords. 
It's been said before, EA is still a major investor in Stupid Fun Club. We'll still be able to put all the blame on EA when his next project fails to meet the hype it gets.
But Will doesn't hate the "corporate megalomaniac overlords." Or at the very least he doesn't want to escape them. They're the ones who pay him to do R&D for 5 years to develop a single new game.
Maybe with Stupid Fun Club, he'll be able to work on and release more smaller projects. Those prototypes they released on the run up to Spore were pretty fun. If they polished a bunch of them off and packaged them together, I wouldn't mind paying for a set. They were more of the real "toy" that he was talking about with Spore. Spore tried to be both and met in the middle, which made both aspects seem lackluster.
I wonder if he brought anyone from Maxis with him.
