Bill Nye The Science Guy
« on: March 04, 2009, 04:51:14 pm »
I watched an old episode of Bill Nye The Science Guy today on PBS. It brought back old memories of watching the show back in the 90's when it originally aired. Anyone else use to watch the show? Here is a funny example experiment from the show.

Everyone loved Bill Nye, hell, I loved Bill Nye...

Even though he was on the Disney channel.

I saw Bill Nye in person... he's good.

The best episode of his show was the one where he talks about floods.

Where do I start? I started watching the show back when I was a pre-schooler. Between watching the Magic Schoolbus and Bill Nye, I developed a love of science that's still with me today. Heck, they pretty much taught me 65% of pre-high school science. (With another 30% comming from books/the internet)

Now it's more like 40%, but still! He pretty much laid the foundation for everything I know now.

Glad to see so many Bill Nye fans :D

@Crazen

Yeah I saw a show about alternative energy and it showed Bill Nye's house with them. It was so cool, but really expensive.

@ Darth Grievi

That's awesome.

Also anyone watch Beakman's World? It was a similar show but with a giant rat. :P

I remember that show.

Too bad, I was only able to watch a few episodes.

The Magic Schoolbus for me, mostly. I still can't get that digestive system episode out of my mind. >_>

Same thing for me.  I find it dissapointing that kids today do not have shows of the same caliber to watch.

I love how Bill Nye also took on the fake sciences, how he talked about them while oh so quietly bashing them.

Bill Nye is pretty good, even now really. Though, I never really saw his stuff since I basicly didn't watch TV until I was pretty grown up. Hell, I don't really watch TV now.

@Greivi, I developed my love of science by experimenting and wondering about things, outside my grand-parent's house. There, I had relative quiet, and the surroundings of nature. That's the only thing I like about the country, surrounded by nature. Later, when I grew up, turned out many of my own 'theories' had already been devised by others. I didn't need no stinkin magic schoolbus or bill nye to get me going.  :P *poke fun at*

Indeed Bill Nye is much more entertaining than some science teachers. I mean love science and all but some teachers can make it sooooooo boring to listen to. Why do you think I draw? :P Actually math classes are where i drew most. You should have seen my notes. Equations with random doodles in the empty spaces. I got so good that I could draw an entire full page drawing within a class period. Everything from penciling, inking and then coloring in with color pencils.

Here is one I remember doing in a math class. As you can see i hated math.

Bill Nye? :o I LOVED Bill Nye! ;D I grew up with him! Oh, the memories...

BILL NYE THE SCIENCE GUY!

Science rules!

BILL! BILL! BILL! BILL! BILL! BILL!

T-minus 10, 9, 8, 7,

BILL NYE THE SCIENCE GUY!

I learned a lot of my current knowledge from him. I remember on one episode he was teaching about magnetism and there was a segment where he had an ad for a superhero movie called "Compass Man." The tagline was "Will he ever find his way?" :)
I came, I saw, I went back to bed.

Bill Nye the Science is the epitome of my childhood. I remember sitting about my Granny's house playing the Sega Genesis and then turning it off to watch Bill Nye. Best show ever.
