Battlefield: Bad Company 2
« on: February 24, 2009, 03:40:19 pm »
Well there seems to be no info besides a single screen shot, but it has been announced!
http://www.battlefield.com/badcompany2/

I personally loved BF:BC, more so for the campaign, but the online was still great, so i am very glad to see a sequel to it! :D

EDIT:
they also seem to be making a Battlefield 1943.

I enjoyed Bad Company as well and look forward to BC 2 for sure.
I am also looking forward to the Battlefield 1943. Too bad it's only 3 maps though. I loved playing the Wake Island map in BF 1942. It should be cool to play it with the destructible environment for sure.

I loved BC but multiplayer was not that great. The destructable environments needs tweaked though.

What you're off your rocker! Multi was the best thing about that game. I found the Single player boring and all the AI were sharp shooters who knew where you were at all times. I'm the rightest!  :P

Well they had the gold rush game mode to begin with, but shortly after the brought back the usual game mode.

But I loved gold rush! I thought it was great how the actual battlefield was in constant motion!

*sigh* It seems that in it's lust to compete with Modern Warfare 2, EA has taken away the only thing that made Bad Company unique - it's amazing sense of humour. Watch the trailers and the all the gameplay. It seems so bland now, it's honestly lost it's coolness.

Compare:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6LrVeq41js" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6LrVeq41js</a>

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_s6Symcceg" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_s6Symcceg</a>

Think Bad Company 2 will be as fun as the first? Discuss.

Keep in mind that that was an ad for the multiplayer.  I have no doubt that the campaign will still be great and wity.

Well, to be honest I haven't seen any Singleplayer ads for BC2, but for BC1 they didn't have anything BUT singleplayer ads, which shows the shift of interest. And I'll be honest, I didn't buy Bad company for the multiplayer - I saw in the trailers that it was a witty game that didn't take itself too seriously and reminded me of Kelly's Heroes. I'm not going to buy the sequal if it's concentrated on the relatively minor selling point of multiplayer.

What? every battlefield game has been focused on multiplayer more then single player, bad company was no different, the multiplayer IS the selling point of bad company bar none.

Its great you enjoy the single player though.

Yeah. You just have to preorder the game first... which kind of defeats the purpose. :/

Well, that's two trustworthy opinions. Good enough for me!

Thanks! :D

(My buddy has been dogging me for a month now to get the game anyway so I'll just buy it on Steam. I love Battlefield 2 and this looks like a much better version of that.) *rolls the dice*

**EDIT**
Looks like the dice were on my side this time. Bad Company 2 is superb so far!

Its a remote control UAV. Its main purpose is to spot for your team. On the 360 you aim at an enemy and push the back button and shows that enemy's locations to your team. It also has  sort of laser sighted rocket it can call in once in awhile which is what is probably killing you. The attacking side gets them from a little control computer type thing.

How long does it take to rank-up in this game? I've logged like, six hours and I'm barely half way to my first rank.

This was the same issue I had with BF2. I must have had 40 hours playing and I only ever ranked up about five times.

Not sure, I ranked up just after a couple match's. However the demo limits how any ranks you can gain.

I found sticking to one or two classes a game helps. You're more likely to get class specific medals and you get bonus points for those. When defending, be a medic and just heal and revive people, it's not hard becoming top player if you do that.

I always play the same class. Maybe I should switch.

Assault is what I usually play. Can't do sniper, my hands shake too much. Engineer doesn't make much sense to me but maybe medic is the way to go.

... 2000ish. >_>

It's very easy to get points as an Engineer or Recon if you blow up loads of vehicles with entire squads on them.

You get like 300+ points if you're lucky.

One time I RPG'd an enemy helicopter that was taking off. It exploded, killing 4 people inside, as well as another person near the helicopter on the ground, and the explosion broke a hole into the building with the capture point allowing easy access. I went from around 5th place to 1st place instantly. :OOOO

I've put 7 hours in the MP and I have yet to unlock the defibrillators for the Medic (sigh) I do have mortar strike for my sniper!

One thing that bothers me, is that the mechanic class has too choose between land minds or rocket launcher, in the first BC you could have booth at the same time. (walks off and pouts) >:(

Supreme commander one was kinda mediocre, I mean some of the systems in it where good, some bad. I really loved the scale of it, and the way that you had to think things through. The only RTS where you can crash your own economy (done that many a time). Supreme commander two looked like it was really good. The naval combat was refined, air combat was about the same. The only thing I don't like is the Land combat, but then I never did in the first Sup Com. The tech tree also allows some more interesting decisions. I hope that covers most of it, also it looks pretty :P.

I've played this a while, gotten all the Recon(Sniper) unlocks. I have to say, it's a pretty fun game, though I have no idea how vehicle combat or close-range combat is, since I'm the annoying bastard who kills you literally from across the map and keeps your entire team from getting in my field of vision. Mortar strikes are real riot to use.

The only thing I hate is that they still haven't fixed people jacking vehicles from your own base, a legacy issue from every battlefield before it, and pretty much every game with vehicles. It's very unbalancing when the punks from the other team get both assault helos and just spam rockets and minigun fire everywhere, or just steal all the tanks(but in the case of the tanks, mortar strike takes care of them, it's just those helos with drivers smart enough to know not to hover long enough to get shot in the head that are the worst)

Vehicle combat is great, especially taking some enemies out with a long range tank shot. And close combat when you blow up a quad with short range grenade as it attempts to ride over you.

At the moment though i have some issues with the campaign, cutscenes every other minute and unbearable amounts of shakey camera, i'm hoping it gets better.

Stealing the enemies vehicles is, believe it or not, a valid tactic. If your team is not using your choppers it's basically your teams fault anyway, so you "deserve" to get raped by two choppers. Also, shooting down choppers is easy, granted you have someone on the team who knows how to handle his tracer dart gun.

Or a self guiding rocket launcher. Anyway you shouldn't be playing conquest anyway, rush is where the real fun is at.

And close combat when you blow up a quad with short range grenade

That reminds me; I love pulling off head shots with my M95 at quads who think they can run me over  :D. It's pretty hilarious, I just wish I could hear what they say about it. I remember I once shot a quad driver as he tried to get out of his main base from my own base... Love the bullet physics of such shots. Was pretty cool, but then I reminded myself of how I hate getting spawn-killed too.

I don't believe the basic American soldier could read Russian well enough to fly one of their helicopters. I can kind of understand tanks, since tanks are usually not that hard to figure out.

I've kind of figured out Conquest is pretty much pointless. As far as I can tell, it's not like the old Battlefields where if you held the majority of the flags, the enemy tickets went down. If I'm wrong, someone correct me, but I've never seen tickets go down unless someone gets killed.

Yes, there is ticket bleeding when you hold all flags. Try it on an empty server; get all flags and you can see the tickets draining.
