Civ 4 - Stone Age (Poll Game)
« on: February 20, 2009, 06:06:34 pm »
Our tribes ancestors have wandered for years, gathering resources and trying to survive. A group of young people went gathering and got lost, without the guidance of their elders they decide to settle somewhere, leaving the old ways of wandering in search of resources behind. Among the tribes people there are some warriors. The tribe has the ability to settle while the warriors can explore and defend as well as attack if there is need for it. They need to find an area which will provide them with food for a long time to come. What should this young tribe, lost and away from what they knew as home in the Paleolithic Era do?

People can choose up to 2 options, so say you want them to settle and send the warriors to explore north you can do that. You can also choose to explore north AND east for example, which means they will explore northeast. If there is a tie between 2 opposing directions (eg. North and South, then they will explore both). Exploring means they move as far as 5 tiles on that direction.

If people vote on a direction that can't be explored yet (eg. North), I'll check the tiles around me and see where I can get closer to that spot (eg. I'd go Northeast).

Think of something better and I'll change it, history is not really my strength so I have difficulty making up stories for stuff like this although I enjoy playing Civ and it has taught me a lot. I'm using a Stone Age mod btw.

No, I mean your start start. Not your first post. You've only got corn visible. Grassland is nice, but more resources is better.

Oh, ok. I added a bit more to the story anyways, considering the lifestyle of the Paleolithic.. "settling" wouldn't be very frequent so I made up a story for it.

Yeah, I didn't want to start in the perfect place so I just went with the first game that was generated, that's why the first priority is either to settle or explore the area around to see if we can find something better.

It'd probably be best to just settle anyway. It's on a hill, therefore it's more defendable. Eventually, those grasslands will make it a powerhouse of economy/research. If you cottage, of course.

I concur.
No, no, he did. In the everything else section, at least. Officially, this makes him king.

Settle where the warrior is. That will utilize 3 out of the 4 hills once the borders expand and will also be able to use those forests in the south.

This is nice. Don't hesitate to use the world builder to balance the game if you need to, in actions regarding movement or technology.

Our Tribe went ahead and settled on the current tile, our new Settlement is called Chabuca. The warriors went exploring South and found Jungle/Grassland which will most likely prove useful in the future. The tribe is currently training a Gatherer in the city but it can train a Warrior instead. Also, it can research 1 of 5 technologies: Natural Pigments, The Fire, Stone Tools, Wood Working and Hunting.

Unit - Gatherer
Can gather grains, gather wood and build a stone tool workshop once we have that technology.

Unit - Warrior
Strength: 2
+25% City Defense.

Technology - Natural Pigments
+1 Happiness in all settlements
Reveals Dye
Leads to Parietal Art

Technology - The Fire
+1 Health in all settlements
Leads to Oral Tradition, Cooked Food and Exploration

Technology - Stone Tools
Can build Stone Tools Workshop
Reveals Stone
Can train Slinger and Clubman
Can construct Stone Weapons Workshop
Enables Hunter II
Leads to Fine-Edged Tools, Exploration

Technology - Wood Working
Can gather Wood
Enables Trapper I and Woodsman I
Leads to Refuge Building, Fletching

Technology - Hunting
Revels Deer and Sheep
Can train Spearman and Atlatl (early scout/hunter)
Can construct Hunting Instruction and Hunting Lodge
Enables Hunter I and Drill I
Leads to Parietal Art and Early Fishing
Receives 2 free Atlatls

The new exploring options are in relation to the Warrior, so if Return to city  wins the warrior returns to the city and defends it. Players can choose up to 3 options.

I'm going to ask LadyM if she can change the amount of options from 2 to 3 because I can't, until then the voting is locked.
