History, Anyone?
« on: February 18, 2009, 08:23:29 am »
Everyday, I learn something new in history, and it sticks to my brain for a long time. If anybody is curious about history ask me anything.

The egg came first because: what if it's parent was a different species? like Archeopteryx?

If anybody is curious about history ask me anything.

To what extent did the October Manifesto solve the problems facing Tsarism in Russia?

They went as far as creating a constitution to overthrow the tsardom.

Why didn't you learn from your apology thread?

because I didn't get what you meant. If I did it in private, I would be afraid that nobody would be curious, and that I'd never become a use to anyone here in this grand forum.

I think what they are getting at is that this topic is far too broad in scope to be of any good to anyone. There's broad and then there's too broad. Oddly enough, I also have historical trends to back that up.

Well, the thread is really broad in scope, as Patman said.
Though aside from this, you're offering yourself up as some kind of memoryman for historical knowledge. I hate to come across as an ageist prick, but you're 14 years old, man. Your personal knowledge of history isn't exactly isn't going to be something to hold a thread aloft on, especially when there is google and wikipedia as summary infomers only a few clicks away. Hell, even an expert in the historical field wouldn't be able to singlehandedly cover such a broad thread, especially without an actual topic to actively discuss on.

It just comes across as an attempt at conjuring up a novelty thread for the sake of it, and in my opinion it was doomed to fall flat on its face from the moment you made it, like the apology thread.

If you want to discuss something interesting, find a topic that's fun and start that up.

Where was there a semi-major attack in an RIC barracks during the 1916 Easter Rising in Ireland?

Hijack:

ITT - Do you think modern trends are beginning to show trends of the Roman collapse? Such as 'uncivilized' peoples beginning to attack and chip away at the civilized ones with the civilized ones slowly corroding away anyway?

I mean... if history repeats itself after all.

No, no, he did. In the everything else section, at least. Officially, this makes him king.

Yes and I try very hard not to think about it. :(

I would like to add though that we are trying really hard to get everyone up to a level plane. There are so many organizations and governments out there trying to help. I really really hope we can pull ahead because we've come so far. It would be such a shame to see things go bad right now.

I doubt it, we have better technology then any other civilization in recorded history, and our "civilization" is almost global.

Anyway;

Its not the technology that was the problem though Always, it was the mentality of the people of Rome and the Germanic tribes and the roman political and economic downturn.

And civilization is GLOBAL?! What?

India - Africa (The continent) - ____stan - Most of E. Europe - Mexico - Most of S.E. Asia - Central America

Thats a lot of the 'globe' that is rather out of touch with modern civilization and struggles today so I fail to see how our civilization is 'global' in any way.
