ever met a gaming steve forum member in a different forum?
« on: December 13, 2008, 01:51:28 pm »
when i've registered to other forums their have been a couple times when i've received a pm saying "her i know you from the gaming steve forum" because i use the same avatar pic and sig with all my accounts. At the moment i am only in two forums, here and i occasionally pop into the cracked forums to rant about stuff but i usually offend people so i stay out quite alot.

has anyone else here ever spotted someone in a different forum whose by finding someone using the same name and stuff as they do here?

if so then holla at me dawg!

No.  Then again I don't go to big forums.  This is my most dedicated forum I've been to.

No.

They'd run brutus out one of the plant forums I visit (not the carnivorous plant one) with pitchforks and torches if he showed up with that signature there. I am still under my old screen name in the sc4 community sites but I almost never post there anymore.

I mostly stay in the trees and conifers section as those are the things I am interested in but we have 60 year old ladies who wander in from the butterfly section. MY language scandalizes them often. I just recently turned 21 but I think I am the youngest regular poster there.

Though I suppose it would be a mistake to think of them as that delicate, because I have seen said 60 year old lady tell a troll to shove a "redwood stiffy" where the sun does not shine. It was the most hilarious post ever coming from someone like that.

We'll leave it to Brutus to be couteous and remove it when he feels he should on his own initiative. If it bothers everyone so much I'm pretty sure he'll remove it since everyone pesters him about it.

Actually I don't like it at all.  :-\  I wish you'd remove it and put something less tasteless up. I could ask Steve what he thinks. If it was up to only me, it would be gone by now.

As far as finding other people on other forums, I've met a few on Sim forums and the Spore forum but this is my main one. I've also met people from the forums in real life too. It's nice to meet the person behind the name.

Now, please back on topic.

Har har... but seriously I don't care about his sig. It raised my eyebrows when I first saw it but really it is up to him to remove it and he seems fond if it. And that's fine. Taste is open to individual interpretation.

Splendid, now that LadyM has settled this petty squabble i have noticed this thread has gotten majorly derailed, i suggest we correct our current situation!

Ladym i am seriously requesting that one of the moderators ban me.

This forum has just sank. Every one gets offended at everything. You can't say anything even slightly tangent from safe, mainstream views.

its elephants humping for gods sake. I'd be allowed to show that picture in an episode of Noddy but the people here can't handle it.

I guess this place is trying to be like McDonalds, Bland and inofensive but selling alot of hamburgers. The forum has no character, i feel like your all wearing masks of politness to maintain the Phatic talk that is place. Hell the only reason i use it is becuase it has a group of dedicated posters who i can recognise and remember the character of.

I'll find somewhere better.

Ban me.

By the way Steve is kind of inactive round here isn't he?

Bye.

There's nothing wrong with Brutus sig! What the hell, it's just two animals having sex, it IS like the most vital thing to all of nature! And it's not like "OMG they are naked", they are freaking animals. And it's not like you see any... inappropriate parts. If someone really get offended by that then I wonder what happened to us humans. I know that things are much more censored in America (In Sweden theres no big problemo with swearing in TV, even if it is during prime time), but yea, this is taking it a bit to far. Soon I guess we won't be allowed to talk about action games because some 9 year old could be offended about us talking about VIOLENCE!

Just giving voice to my thoughts about this embarrassing conflict.

I know its not in great taste, i mean you wouldn't walk into a business meeting with that printed on you shirt, but its not really "offensive"
a better question is why didn't he just get rid of it as apposed to start this whole thing?!

...

A better question- why am i contributing to his bonfire of a thread?!

??? Wait, so he just up and left for good? Damn, I was beginning to like him.

I think all of you have lost a bit of perspective. It is just a signature. Some people don't even have any. I don't think a signature like this is a big enough deal for everyone to be getting all worked up about or marching off in a huff.

Yes sir! Well without sounding too arrogant... when you're in the position that I am at in this forum it's kind of difficult to have a "normal" relationship with the other people on that forum because if someone isn't trying to prove you wrong "just because", they don't like you because you get more attention than them. That's why I keep distance between most of you guys and my other ventures. There's a whole can of worms here about this subject. Send me a PM or something if you want to hear more! :P

did no one notice what brutus said or are we just politley ignoring it ???

That's not what this topic is about. Take it up with your local moderator.

Honestly I'm with Brutus. I have seen worse here. I remember someone having an avatar way before Spore came out, It was the creature from that old intro movie humping another one with red around the *hump spot* i bet you can guess what that was supposed to be?.

i mean theirs been a lot of things here i believe to be in bad taste in avatars sigs or discussions and it never bothered anyone. Seriously has anyone stepped foot in the random image bonanza?. I don't see anything wrong with his sig, it made me chuckle when i first seen it.

And supposedly I'm the forums crazy Christian guy!! so you would think it would be ME to complain about it!..

Anyway the only other forum i have seen any GS peeps at was the Spore official forum.

Don't pull your insane, misplaced values down on everybody else. Elephants having intercourse is perfectly natural - you don't even see the penis, for God's sake.

I bet you're one of those "Blood & gore is awwwright. Why, what is that? A NIPPLE!? JESUS CHRIST! OH LAWD! *Runs off to write a complaint and call a lawyer*"

Oh wait, I already won that bet.

The picture is not pornographic, obscene or controversial. If it is removed, then I might as well file a complaint against the picture of Chris Crocker, because it's annoying and people might think this is a homosexual forum if they look over my shoulder.

On-topic: I've seen a couple of Daxxes in some Valve game.

I see Ulti on KHI there all of the time actually.
He's been there for a year.
Kid: Oh wow I'm being deflowered by a grown woman!
Mother: By the way I'm your mother
Kid: OH GOD NO

EDIT: That's where it becomes rape if you were wondering.

What is the Bay12 forum? just wondering.

Anyhow, I think I may have met Bonemouse on the Knytt Story forums. It's possible that was a different person though.

Other than that, the only other forum I've seen GS people on is the official Spore forum.

Edit: As far as Brutus's sig, it's not like you can see the elephants penis or anything and I don't find anything offensive about it. Sure it may be a bit tasteless, but I just ignore it.

Edit2: I've used the name smjjames (or a slight variation) for years (at least 8 or more), before that, I don't remember. So there is a possibility that someone may have seen me somewhere since that username is pretty unique.

One of the mods at the first forum I joined is also a member here, but he isn't very active.

As for other issues brought up in this thread, I will hold my tongue, but I want to know where we should talk about it.  Please don't pull the 'we don't talk about bannings' card on this one.  Come on, the guy threw a hissy fit and walked out, people are going to talk about it.
Probably not a Goat, either.

I met Luminar in City of Heroes ages ago. We lost contact, then months later, I felt like discussing Spore, and after leafing through the number of forums available, I picked the one here. I stumbled on one "Luminar", and a PM later revealed it to be the very same one. Funny eh?

I was also on City of Heroes quite a while ago. If I saw any names of GS members there, I don't remember.

Also, did anybody play Star Wars Galaxies? I was there from the early days when Giant Baz Nitches (that's the name believe me) were truly giant, Dathomir was suicide, and chubas were aggro. I was there for about a year before I got fed up with all the PR issues and then went to CoH.

I haven't seen any GamingSteve members because I wasn't aware of this place until today. Personally, I pop into a few little places like SomethingAwful, Face Punch Studios, ZFGC and zConnection.

Brutus, in all fairness, I don't think of it as particulairly tasteless, and admittedly, a little funny. HOWEVER, as it seems to be the general concensus of the Gaming Steve community for you to remove it, I would sincerely advise that it goes down before this becomes something bigger.

Oh, and I see GS members everywhere, but the one that comes to mind is always the Red Alert 3 Beta.

Ah, yeah, I got some mods, some fixes, that kind of stuff. The forums are better to look through than the site, anyway.

And supposedly I'm the forums crazy Christian guy!! so you would think it would be ME to complain about it!..

You are quite mistaken good sir, that would be NeoAdept.

Has anyone noticed Ultaninum is the only one openly bitching about the sig?

I have 'met' Flamester on some Pixel art forum that I lost the link to and never joined.

What? Seriously?....man...I'm gonna have to assault somebody with a bible or something..to get my rep up...

I only really consistently visit two forums. This one and Gamefaqs, and i haven't met any GS user there...at least as far as i know.

Yeah, the dwarf fortress forum has a bunch of you guys (Plank of Wood, Neoadept). Plank of wood started the segregated fort fad thing, and Neoadept made that zombie mod that's so awesome when your using Embark anywhere for a mini-map.

Yeeeah. I suppose the elephant penis is overdoing it, but seriously reconsider your priorities, people. Although it was hilarious to see Brutus throw the hissy fit. "And I'm leaving FOREVER! BYE~! Also Steve's inactive even tho the forum is still dandy so nyaahm nyahhhm BUURN! Oh I got you all so good!! BYE BYER!
