Creepy & Cute parts pack won't install
« on: November 19, 2008, 10:29:34 pm »
Well, I guess I can't have any expansions for Spore.

Creepy & Cute won't install, because the updater can't patch my game to version 1.2 no matter what I do.

This means that when the Space expansion comes out it won't install as well for the same reason.

Well, whatever patch version is released with it won't patch my game, just like this one didn't.

All I get is the following message "Invalid Patch File"

Guess I'll be stuck with vanilla Spore, no matter what.

* I'm done with trying to get this to patch and whatnot, I've tried reinstalling SEVERAL times and it still won't go *

Hmm... that's a serious concern...

You should be able to return the game though, at least.

Yea, at least I can get my money back.

It bums me out 'cause I was looking forward to the Space Expansion more then Creepy & Cute, but I wanted to see if the issue I've been having from Patch 1 forward would rear it's ugly little head again, and it did.

Not like one can force an upgrade working around whatever issue is causing it to say "Invalid Patch File" over and over.

I even tryed removeing my content, Installing it in the 'default' location, still didn't want to upgrade and install.

* Sigh, well, guess I'm not going to be supporting Spore in the future with these problems *

Try reinstalling 1.1?
DarkDragon's Minecraft Survival Server (use this as the IP):

gamingsteve.dyndns.org

- The server uses a whitelist, if you're not on the whitelist (can't connect), PM me your minecraft name.

Try reinstalling 1.1?

Problem is, that won't install as well, none of the patches has ever took hold, even after buying a brand new hard drive, and reintalling everything from scratch.

By everything I mean starting with Windows XP and going from there forward.

For a sec I thought you may have a problem with the computer, but most likely you have a corrupted copy. Depending on where you bought it from, you may be able to exchange it for a good copy. Although alot of stores won't accept returns if the box has been opened. Doesn't make alot of sense to me, but I think it mainly has to do with theft.

Also, have you tried installing it on a different computer? just to rule out whether it's the computer or a bad disk?

Have you had problems with other games on that particular computer?

You could have a bad disc. Read EA's warranty policy on their customer service page. They have instructions on replacing CDs. Or you can just buy a new copy if that's too much trouble.

Are you using EADM to install the patches?  If so, then just get your money back or what ever.

I once had this problem. Set the EADM to download files to your desktop, and after it downloads, exit the game without actually installing the patch. Then, just double click the patch file.

I didn't install the EADM to start with, as I don't trust it at all.

I'm gonna try just installing the Creature Creator then the parts pack on top of it.

That is not likely to work because it's a different build.

You can always uninstall the EADM when you are done with it, you don't even need it to run the game. In fact, I think it actually takes longer for the game to start up when you have the EADM.

Wait. Are you trying to install the patch without EADM?

Well there's you problem.

You need EADM. Also, you may need to get over your paranoia of EADM since a lot of it's problems have been fixed. And no, EADM has no effect on the performance Spore.

It's just the startup time that seems affected, although that's mainly because it wants to start up at the same time as Spore for some reason.

I agree with Gec, you're going to have to use it unfortunately. Alot of us wish that Maxis had stuck to the usual method of patching with an embedded autopatcher in the game or manually with a zip file. But we can't change that.

I used EADM to download the patches, then got rid of it.

* It should still patch, right ? *
