Recent drawings:

A collection of creatuers I tried to draw. I really like the dinosaur one (top-left) the best - http://img462.imageshack.us/img462/2771/gssporeimage3oi.th.jpg

Jellyfish type creature - http://artpad.art.com/gallery/?iptdp3alzrw
Swamp FlyingFish (A Swampish, perhaps?) - http://artpad.art.com/gallery/?ipteihlmoeo
Terrain Glider - http://artpad.art.com/?iptf6p1e0q2w
Boreal Starfish Type A - http://artpad.art.com/gallery/?iptfnx1eyet8
Boreal Starfish Type B - http://artpad.art.com/gallery/?iptfsu1lk5x0
Legion Fish - http://artpad.art.com/gallery/?iptgm45uazk

Older drawings:

Some primitive fish - http://artpad.art.com/gallery/?ik4t8k11c1hs

Concepts of mine that I don't have a drawing of yet, but there's a description of.

Forest Hopper - This creature is modeled after the one on The Future is Wild (the one that hopped about on 1 leg - didn't see that animal except for in the preview though). It evolved from an octopus when it's legs fused as it came onto land. It lives in the forest, especially near rivers. It has a modified "second mouth" beneath its' fused limbs. These pick up little incests and other bugs off the forest floor. The "mouth" is actually a secondary opening to the stomach. The main mouth is used for munching on low-laying vegetation. These are solitary creatures. (Note: 11/12/2005 - I finally found out the other day that this was the "Desert Hopper" in TFiW that I was thinking about.) It looks something like this: http://img16.exs.cx/img16/6960/vbsporehopper4od.gif

Sea Crawler - This is a starfish-like creature with started out in the coastal waters, but moved inland as more predators came. It has evolved to move quickly on land, but much rather perfers trees. It only comes down onto land to mate, but that's when its' at its' most vulnerable. It feasts on the sap from trees, and leaves. These creatures are also solitary.

Greater Sea Crawler - These are the same sea crawlers that have begun to live in the forest, but have become larger. They have started to form webs between their 5 limbs. Once it starts to glide, it will be known as the Greater Tree Glider. This creature has become a bit more predatory, eating small insects, and occasionally tiny animals. It crawls into the trees, and drops down onto its' prey. These are mostly solitary, but sometimes travel in very small groups. (Note: 11/12/2005 - This could be the ancestor of the Boreal Starfish)

Wolfps - (part wolf, part wasp) This creature was once a fish, which evolved into a flying fish, and is probably the most interesting of creatures. Drying vegetation forced it to fly further and further inland, forcing it to develop stronger wings, and more feet-like fins. It still has its' stinger, which it would use when swooping down on prey. Future generations would develop stronger fins/feet as they started staying longer and longer in smaller ponds and lakes. As their journeys took them north, tiny hairs turned into fur. One might think it's a dragon, but it actually resembles a wolf. It still maintains some fish-like characteristics, as well as a modified stinger. It's a highly predatory pack animal. It lives in coastal areas, and in forests with huge lakes and rivers. (Note: 11/12/2005 - This could be the ancestor of the Advanced Flying Fish)

Daggertail - It's tail isn't really a dagger, but it gets its' name from the two thumb-like prongs with excrete a poison. This is the creature with the really long tail (and a 1 foot rubbery-section). Being stung by the poisonous prongs is like being stabbed by a dagger. It's a very sociable animal, and is an omnivore. However, it only eats very small animals when it can (Opurtunistic hunter). It much perfers vegetation, as that's what gives their tail the poisonous quality. This creature lives in the plains, but will venture into the forest.

Sundancer - These are odd creatures. They never evolved much past using sunlight as energy, like plants. They also can absorb athmospheric gasses to breathe. As a result, they are rather flat, and broad. They have many modified mouths on the bottom of the creature that can digest the grass it walks over. They are extremely solitary, and really don't do much except bask in the sun, and much on a few blades of grass. Their skin is black, to absorb more sunlight, and it also excretes a foul oder to keep predators away.

I may edit this post to add the drawings for the other creatures I listed.

Hey, great idea! Now I have a reason to draw my creatures, I should be able to draw and scan some by tomorrow. Funny thing is next I'm watching a programme about aliens, and after that Star Wars III - plenty of inspiration!  ;)

Update...spent a bit of time drawing as I said I would...and here are the links. They are not art pad, as I am much better drawing free hand.

These are all great! But do they have to be in the art pad thingy? I perfer to draw my creature by hand then scan in and color there. We should really make a huge post with everyones creature pictures, Art pad or not.

Man I wish I had anything even remotely resembling artistic talent. I have quite a few ideas for creatures but lack the skills to draw 'em. Lots of cool pictures in this thread.
There is a method to my madness. That method is in and of itself quite mad, but it is method nonetheless.
