Mirror's Edge
« on: November 10, 2008, 06:19:08 pm »
Wow. Search says there's no thread...

Uhh, anyway. Game comes out tomorrow. For those who don't know this is the game in which you play as faith, a runner (carries messages, uses parkour a lot) in a dystopian society or something like that. Demo is out on xbox live. It's short, but fun. Very different from a lot of games that are coming out around now.

I wonder if what they say is true about the motion sickness. :D

At first it was pretty disorienting for me, but then I noticed the dot in the middle...it really helps.

I liked the demo, but Left 4 Dead will be the last game I buy this year. This will be on my Christmas list.
I need a new tag.

Actually, due to my distrust of EA after that Spore fiasco, I'm going to pass on it until this game get's a couple of good reviews.

That logic doesn't make a whole lot of sense considering that Spore got good reviews.....

It got an 8.3 on gametrailers, and a 7.x on IGN, I think. IGN's reviewer seems pissed off that the combat isn't good.

I want this, and I think I'll enjoy it a lot because I was able to play through and beat the demo several times, and I enjoyed myself each time. If you like the core running/parkour gameplay, I think you'll probably like it.

I remember Miyamoto saying he wanted to make the next Zelda game first person. It'd be cool if they incorporated some of this game's mechanics into it.

Got a 7/10 on Game Spot. Not good enough in my book.

I....really don't pay attention to reviews that much.  I mean, hell, I enjoyed fable 2 more than oblivion and compare the scores for that. Uhh, another example...lemme see here.. *looks at review scores*

I enjoyed the force unleashed, 7.3 on IGN. And gamespot? I'm really surprised web of shadows scored higher than this. So, yeah, I don't really pay attention to reviews much, except for gametrailers, since they seem to be a bit more... I dunno, less emphasis on a static score, although they give one, and more on "if you like this type of gameplay, this is for you" type stuff. So...I still want it regardless. Maybe I'll play it at a friend's first, but I doubt that will deter me.

People still listen to professional reviews despite the the fact its obvious they only give scores based on how much the company is willing to pay for those scores?...

And if you were to listen to one of them..why the hell gamespot?..after the kane and lynch thing?.

*shakes head*

Anyway the demo diden't impress me that much. Maybe its because i practice Parkour and this game is a complete butchering of its principles.

I watched them play it on Out of the Box over at ScrewAttack today and it looked okay. Definitely a rental.

It got mediocre reviews.  But I don't always trust the reviews.  Has anyone tried it?
