I played Wow from Nov 2004 (when it was released) till about Aug of 2005. I really enjoyed the game, exploring - trying out new characters, regions etc. However, once I reached 60 with my main, the game just really slows down. I simply couldn't find the time anymore to spend 3-5 hours a clip in a 40 man raid group to battle Elite mobs and bosses in Molten Core, Oxinya (sp), Blackwings Lair so I might be able to get a piece of purple (epic) equipment. Don't get me wrong - it's a great game but I've got other things in my life (and other games) to do (play).

That's the fun thing about CoV / CoH - I can log on and (for the most part), solo for a while and just play for a half and hour and then log off. And yes, there can be a bit of a grind at times but some of the story arcs and missions for CoV are quite creative. *** Spoiler Alert *** I just completed a mission at lvl 20 when they send you back into the prison you escaped from (when you started your villain) to rescue other villains. It was cool doing that mission in reverse order.

From what Ive heard about WoW its much easier to get a team in City of -------
You just put out a broadcast or check the list of others looking for a team and your away. It doesnt matter if your team is small either. I recently robbed a casino on a team of three, there must have been about 100 security guards in that place :P

I know about the AT's, and it isn't the AT's as much as it's the reused powers. I feel they could have come up with more AT's. It would have made it feel like playing a much more different game, more then simply a slightly different game. Granted that would require more balance, but seeing how Brutes (last time I checked) are overpowered anyway, it doesn't look like they have their balance issues solved regardless.
Its not supposed to be a different game, Its supposed to be an extension of the first game, thats why they dont have separate fees.
I agree with you on balance issues. My mind control dominator totally sucks in PvP, its painful. Luckily he rocks in PvC so it balances out.

No, if you remember for the longest time they said you were going to pay extra fees.  The excuse was that this isn't an expansion, it's a whole new game (since you CAN buy just CoV and play that without CoH). This was an excuse I never accepted though, I still called it merely an expansion. Anyway, the only thing that stopped us having to pay the extra charge was VERY strong opinion from the community that the majority of people would not buy CoV if they had to pay extra.

But an expansion never the less I still would have liked more variety. I've tried most of the powers already in CoH  The main ones I was interested in was MM because it was the only true set of new powers.
My karma ran over your dogma

i played WoW and got bored thinking " how the heck do thoses lvl 60s get that high" i then realised they are all pros and theres no room for noobs in WoW so i went to CoV for me its a relaxed enviroment and your not forced to get the best armor.. becasue there is none! and i like have a base in it too

i think WoW lost its sense of a fun MMORPG early on and CoV to me is a great game

Yeah, instead of armour you have single origin enhancements! ::). Luckily you can buy them all so theres no need to grind elite bosses (or archvillains/heroes) to get them for your powers. I dont think i'd be able to get into WoW, it seems too hardcore and i dont really have enough time to spend 4 hours a day trying to get a piece of "purple ???" armour just so i can compete with some guy who plays WoW as a job.

I think they are both fantastic games, that overall are equal in FUN. The two most balancing things for me are: WoW has a smoother gameplay system--the overall game is of higher quality. CoV's theme is much more interesting to me.

I enjoyed both. I played WoW more. I had too many monthlys going on...I dropped them all, and got GW. I'm happy now.

For me the decision to drop WoW was more about the social fun and amount of time I had to play. I would spend hours in WoW and not accomplish anything by the time I found where to go...I had to log. In CoH I can play all night or play for 30 mins. Complete a story arch, work on some badges or grind the mobs and I always log feeling like I got something done.

I am always leary when I see claims like this "I can log into Game X  and get going quicker than I can in Game Y".

Because sooner or later it seems like all of the MMRPGS suffer from the same fate:  The higher you go in levels, the longer it takes to accomplish things.

When I first started WoW, my first thought was "Wow! Finally, I can log in and play for 15 minutes or 3 hours and have just as much fun!".  Then as I got closer and closer to 60 I noticed that "minimum time period" get longer and longer.  Until finally I had the same feeling I have had with every other MMRPG I have played (Asherons Call, Anarchy Online, Dark age of Camelot, Eve):  it just takes too long to get anything done aftera  while.

How much of this is based on what level you are at?  Doesnt it seem like *most* of these games, when we first start them always seem to be a little better at the grind aspect then the one before?  How much of that is just part of the newness factor, when things are still fairly fresh?

I am interested in CoV now and have been poking around the sites and  checking posts like this.   The only thing holding me back is this nagging feeling that it will be like all the others: wonferfully refreshing and fun at first,  but as time goes on I get tired of seeing the same things over and over and over.

I hated CoV, canceled it after only 10 hours of play. So boring, and just wanted to stop playing.
WoW, I just started playing again, and I love it.

My two cents.

I believe you can (like most of the MMO's) buy a pre-paid game card for CoH/CoV at most game/retail stores. The card will be good for 2 or 3 months (depending again on the game/card you buy).

Yep, thats what my friend does. Over all, I like CoH more then CoV. I think I just like the ATs better, and plus it's not so dark (I mean light. It gets so dark at night you can barly see)
