The Creative Vehicle Makers thread: Starting up.
« on: September 30, 2008, 12:06:29 pm »
Hello, this is Kenobro.  Since Gec and ilikesanta have discontinued the CREATURE commissions thread, I'm starting a VEHICLE commissions thread.  Since this is vastly different from Creature Creator, I appreciate suggestions. Post your theme name and description here. This is also spaceships, because they are so similar. Every now and then I might do a "religious air only" or "military sea" only, but most will include all. Please submit entries in the same way as the creature commissions thread.

Themes so far:
-Featured Part
-Sci-Fi Remakes
-Ancient Vehicles (Pre-automobile)
-Random Objects
-Animals (make animals with vehicle maker as best as possible. Wheels can be used as well as the "legs")
-Sporio Kart 64 (I always thought this sounded cool, but it never was voted for, and this is much easier)
-Color Themes (Like Rainbow, Monochromatic, or some such)
-Sports Themes (Choose a sport, any sport.)
-Food to Go (Food Creations)
-Mechs
-Recreating stuff from other games. Not only vehicles but also characters.
-Buildings
-Variables
-Carriers
-Steam punk
-Cyberpunk
-Retro-futurism
-Mechanical Disasters
-Geological Formations

Is there going to be a vote? Or is it just going to be haphazard using those possible themes? I would suggest working with Gec or at least asking for some pointers.

He's working with me, and it's going to be done like the other one, just with vehicles.

If it makes it any easier Kenobro, once you get enough ideas for themes make a poll. Based on the results, options with the most votes go first. If you get some ties just group and arrange them arbitrarily. That way you can make the next polls solely for voting on winners so you don't have to make two threads for different polls.

I sat we don't do just vehicles. I say we have to make a set.  eg: A vehicle and a building, or maybe a creature and a building, or creature and vehicle, or building and UFO, just 2 different things

mabye we have multiple category subsections

for example
Land Vehicles
  • Featured Part
  • sci-fi remakes
  • etc...

Spaceships
  • Featured Part
  • sci-fi remakes
  • etc...

and have people vote in those, ya know what i mean?

Problem is spaceships have all the parts of vehicles. Plus, it's too hard and really unnecessary.  I appreciate the suggestion, though.

As for Miclee, did the creature thing need more then one creature at a time?  If you want that make your own thread, please.

Gec, what is happening here is I am gathering people's suggestions and THEN making a poll.

Added.  For your color themes, OpDDay2001,(wow, no spellcheck thing comes up. Apparently OpDDay2001 is a real word), I should note that it should use it creative and not just choose a rainbow thing and call it a submission, just like in the creature one for featured part you couldn't just simply add the part than call it a submission.

Obviously. It was just a generalization. It's not my job to work out specifics. ;) :P

Steam-Punk

Is that a suggestion for theme, or what?

I need about 12 themes. That's a pretty good starting number, right?

Steampunk is a good theme.

In the same line as ilikesanta's suggestion, I'll throw in Cyberpunk and Retro-Futurism

Variables

Ever heard of "Transformers" or "Variable Fighters (read: Macross)?" Yeah, that's the basic idea here. Contestants must post a vehicle with two or more transformations. Detachable body sections, foldaway arms and hammerspace laser turrets, all is fair in making variable vehicles. That is, except for the fact that you have to make it so that you can explain just how it works.

Here is an excellent example of a variable vehicle:

     Good luck! :)

Carriers

It can be anything, as long as it performs the most basic function of any carrier: Carry something. You can even go all out and make a vehicle that can carry a vehicle that can carry a vehicle that can carry a vehicle that can carry a vehicle that can carry a vehicle that can carry a vehicle that can carry a vehicle that can carry a vehicle that can carry a vehicle that can carry a vehicle that can carry another vehicle. That is, if you really want to.

Extra multiball points for showing us a picture of what it actually carries.

I like the idea of carriers. I'm a little fuzzy on variables, though.  Please provide description. Carriers is pretty much "beast of burden" vehicle type, right?

A variable is something that can shift or transform into something else. Well sort of. In military terms, a variable sweep wing aircraft is an aircraft that can change it's wingspan, like the F-14 Tomcat. In the Robotech Universe (and in Sci-Fi in general) a variable is something that can change it's shape, role, and equipment. It basically has different states. In the Macross/Robotech Universe there is the Fighter, Guardian, and the Humanoid transformations. A V-Tech (Variable Tech) fighter plane would transform into a the two-legged hybrid Fighter/Walker known as a Guardian Mode, from guardian it could further change into a fully Humanoid Mode which was suited for urban and ship-to-ship battles.

Geological formations

Canyons, mountains, even volcanoes! You must make a geological formation that is as believable or as awesome as possible.

Please try and spell check your posts.  Also, Sporetube is too general.  God idea, but much too broad.

Sword of the Spore...  What's the point in Space only when it is just all them combined?  And it's MUCH too specific.

Creatureship is done...  I think.  Unless there could be "featured creature" or something.
