Grox Homeworld??

Has anyone found the Grox Homeworld yet? if there is a place where the key to actually killing them all will be, it would be there, right?

I always figured something as evil as the Grox woulda been born in Redmond USA...
I say NO! to all limits.
Unfortunately, I don't think we're far enough into the Civ stage to have deveoped into the 'Infinite-ghz processing' research tree yet...

Their homeworld is basically a T0 world with 3 colonies, that said, if you destroy it, terraform it, cap it, etc....they just get a new one.

Honestly, I don't expect an actual way to defeat the Grox to be available in-game as of now, seems more the subject of an expansion.

This raises the question as to whether or not the Grox expand like other empires... If you take a world from them, do they just settle a new one?

I'm not sure if they expand their empire, though I am fairly certain that they will recolonize worlds they've lost to you that you've not taken yourself and have left at T0.

It's crazy how they won't take back a T1 planet. I mean, they're the "big bad Grox." Are you telling me they don't have cloud vacuum technology, or even enough money to buy a simple drought generator?

Oooh Nooo. Not another Grox thread...

The newbies shouldn't be allowed to start new threads until they have at leats 2 or 300 posts.

Anyway... More work for the moderators merging threads.

The Grox:
They are the exact opposites of every other races you met before.

SO the key to fight them is to do the exact opposite of what you are used to do.

From the start of the game you have been coached to expand and go towards the Center. Meet alien races and allie with them, trade, terraform etc..

Now from the center you fight the Grox by terraforming their worlds. They won't go back to them.
You use Monolith to raise new species.

THEY will do the expansion outward for you. Your task is just to destroy Grox colonies and terraform to at least T1

Five or 6 monoliths should be enough to make a solid central empire.

YOU only need one or 2 planets to start the ball rolling.

For many years, the Grox were in Walnut Creek, California (and before that, Orinda, California), but in February 2004 the Grox migrated to Redwood Shores.
I thought they lived in Walnut Grove, Minnesota and migrated to Mansfield, Missouri... Didn't they blow up Walnut Grove to keep it out of the hands of greedy real estate investors?

I was packing around a world destroyer just in case i found the Grox homeworld. Knew that if it wasn't at or near the center it didn't exist. Too bad. I so wanted to use it somewhere important.

We should be able to do some merging soon so this thread will probably be put with another about the Grox.

On another note, nice post Slarti, I'm in a Grox situation now and not sure what to do. That's a great idea, obviously it worked for you.

I don't think it's about whether they CAN or CAN'T terraform...
I think, with the grox, it's more about the fact that they think 'life' itself is a taint, and they don't want a tainted planet. They'd probably rather just blow it up.

Also, I don't think the game itself allows other species to terraform.....? :P

It will, but not in the same way players can (I think). I watched an empire get an ice world far from its star to T2, but it wasn't a long, drawn-out process like when players terraform; it just... Happened.

When near the center I could ask my allies to attack the Grox but now all they want is attack each others.

At least I don't get any Grox attacks anymore. No pirates either. And I don't use any cheats or hacks.

Maybe the answer is in the Scrolls of Faith Book 8?

The Grox do not recapture T0 worlds either. And although time consuming, they are easy to beat.
My ship is much faster than theirs. I just dogfight in circles around them and pepper them with missiles.
3 or 4 bombs on their cities and they leave the system.

I have cut a large chunk of their territory and the way in and out of the center is almost clear now.

But that's still not THE way to destroy them completely. Still searching.........

Edit
here is a video I made

There isn't a staff of death and just let this thread rest in peace.

Doesn't the staff of life make worlds habitable anyway which in effect kills the grox anyway?

But the staff only has 42 uses, and you have well over 500 possible planets to reclaim from the Grox.
