I can't start a game in the space stage?
« on: September 11, 2008, 07:55:08 am »
It's not letting me start a game in the Civilization or Space Stage.  It's telling me I need to play the tribe stage to unlock the other two stages, despite the fact I have two save game files in which I've played all the way through to space.  What gives?

Also, and I believe this to be related to the problem, the game isn't counting achievements I should have.  I know they say that it takes a while for achievements to register online, but I haven't been getting anything popping up on screen telling me I've recieved an achievement and it's been like a week since I've achieved some of the stuff.

Anyone having the same problem or know of a solution?

Have you uninstalled and reinstalled at some point? There is a known issue that should be fixed next patch.

I have and I only noticed the problem after reinstalling.  Any way to fix it or do I just have to wait for the patch?  Also, do you have any idea if the patch is retroactive - IE, will I have to do the achievements again or will it recognize that I've done them in the past?

Thanks for the reply btw.

As I understood it it is supposed to be retroactive, but I've not heard official word on that specifically.

Don't you mean FIRST patch?  :)

That's a strange glitch. I hope they fix it soon.

However, and I'm sorry for asking this here, but I can't find the answer anywhere and I've been getting frustrated: can you start a new game in creature stage with a pre-made creature with parts higher than the cell-stage-transition parts? :( Run-on sentence like woah, but I made a creature in the stand-alone editor that I really want to play as and I can't find that option. I would be shocked if there was really no way to do this...

You can start in the Tribe stage with a premade creature, but I don't think you can start in the creature with a premade one.  Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Huh, weird, but alright. I guess it's not that huge of a deal. Thank you for the answer though, and sorry again for posting in your thread. :) I just didn't think it really warranted making its own.

Thank you! Hope you find a solution to your save glitch.

Solution (must be done for each time you want to start a new game in space):

1. click on desired planet
2. Ctrl-shift-C for the console
3. type "levels -unlock", without the quotes obviously
4. Ctrl-Shift-C to get rid of the console
4. Get out of that planet by clicking somewhere else on the screen
5. Click on that planet again, and all levels should be unlocked

Enjoy.
