A cool island that I flew out to, with help from a Spice geyser.

Did you make it back? Or did the Sea Monster get you?  :D

I found I could get back safely after I used the geyser to get there. =)

I found the footprints too! My creature fits nicely into the toe imprint.

A tribe of Jinx, I lol'd when I saw these, forget who made them though.

Necroxes Veilfish, I just thought they looked pretty good ingame.

Gzillafans Will Wright creature, lol. Spotted these while in tribal phase for my creature.

GODZILLA!

I had actually spotted him earlier, but a meteor shower interrupted my shot, although it would have looked cool otherwise.

First shot is a system I took over just for the view. This is taken from the innermost planet looking out. But on the far gas giant, if you wait a bit, you can be on the moon, watch the sun rise, then watch the first gas giant with its rings and moon rise, then watch your gas giant rise... way cool.

This is my UFO tearing across a planet, note LadyM's shower/tub UFO in formation :)

How many people turn level of distance (Forgot exact name) off?  I ask because many screens show the moons and other planets in perfect focus, which mean you have the effect turned off.

For those unaware, it is the effect that makes things far away (Not just planets but trees as well) look like they have a camera blur.

I ask since I was wondering if the community overall prefers it on or off?  With it off it does significantly improve performance, but I kinda like it so I suck up the lost frames and deal with it...for now.

Lighting and shadow grpahics are the biggest hogs. I can handle medium of them fine with rest on high making most things look pretty, but once one of them goes high, the game lags incredibly. I prefer DoF on, it's prettier.

I like DoF on too. I think it makes the game feel a bit more real since objects tend to blur with distance. Although I have had off when I take star system pictures. I just realized Ive taken 300 pictures ;D

I'm wondering about that as well, I didn't know about that.

Actually what I am talking about is "Depth of Field" or DoF, as seen here:

(Last option)

Just turn it off in the option menu! ;)

And NO...that is not my current settings!  My current ones are everything med but player models and graphic effects, which are high.

I run everything on high on my laptop with no issues, including dof. I like it better having the hazzy far off look.

You can only set them on low, not off (according to the options menu), but I'm willing to try that.

Ahh, I getcha now. I think I prefer it on, too. Perhaps not so much in the later stages, it probably looks better off when you're visiting solar systems with the UFO.
