Here's your answer:
SPOILERYou can't really leave your UFO, but you can eventually get a tech enhancement that allows you to project a holographic image and walk around on a planets surface, except you can't be hurt by anything

I'm good with the hologram...what else would I do but get eaten by the primitive species!!

Now the question is...can my hologram enter a primitive tribe's camp or a tech city and will the native see me??

It does not sound as bad as you make it friend.  I mean I am learning what you are learning and I am not disappointed.

What purpose would have your physical being on the surface do anyhow?  I mean you would be eaten by the natives most likely and I was under the impression the only reason to leave your ship would be to explore...that is it.

Who knows?  There could be another upgrade that lets you physically leave the ship later, but as you are probably thinking what would be the point then?

While I suppose a "survivorman" style expedition to a hostile planet would be fun... why can't we just play the creature stage again?  Because of the way the game is geared, survival in the wild isn't as daunting or challenging as one may think.

I would have been very disappointed with the lack of a physical presence on a planet were there actually a need to leave the UFO for more than just sight seeing.  If there were caves and such with some hidden peril, I'd have been angry.  As it stands now, there wasn't much to do in the creature stage once you were fully evolved anyway.

I haven't bought the game, but the difference between SPOILER! Walking as a physical being and walking as a hologram seems really small. What where you expecting to do as a "real" creature anyway?

Disagree. Maybe he wants to fight the critters down there and eat fruit for a while.

Even with all of the things they left out, Spore is still pretty enormous at release.  But you can't have EVERYTHING in it at launch.  It wouldn't have been out for another 3 years if they put in everything people say is missing.  And then they'll need to delay it for another year because they have to redo the graphics AGAIN because they're so dated.  And then by the time they get done with that, they solve the realistic animation problem, and scrap the entire cartoony, comical aspect and focus on a science/realistic aspect.  And they end up working on Spore 2 for another 5 years without even having released the first one yet.

Just be patient.  The expansions and addons will come.
