I live on the Orion arm....  Sweet!
I live right on the arm the earth is located on.
Is that possible?
If it is, does that mean I can find earth quicker?

I started my Hinoda in that arm.  Never bothered to find it, though.  It is possible, however.

after going through a bunch of saved planets, my sister actually had a homeworld realy realy close to earth!!! She could get there in just two jumps at the max drive! She put a colony on Jupiter's moon.

It took me a while to find Earth, when I did I decided not to colonize Earth itself since the colonies would mess up the continents, so instead I terraformed mars and made Earth a Wildlife reserve, I did the same with the moon.

Has anyone decided to put colinies on Earth based on real world cities? I would personally like to see New York City in spore. I'd do it but ya know unguided arrow.

Couldn't be done, conolies are waay to big in comparison to the size of the continents.

Well how about Utah? Central USA is flat enough to not be majorly affected.

Only thing though, most cities are right on the coast and for some dang reason you can't make coastal colonies (yet they seem to do just fine without using boats on a water world). So, maybe Moscow or one of the big African cities?

Vetro does have a point though, the colonies do mess up the terrain.

Utah is a smaller city than New York! I know it'll stop the conoly from messing up the terrain, but it doesn't escape the fact that one colony is about the size of several states!

Incidentally...
I'd do it but ya know unguided arrow.
I thought your "unguided arrow" rant was about how you DO want more direction in Spore. Now you're saying you don't want direction?

I have still never found Earth.

Is there any particular arm of the universe you're supposed to look for, or is just a guessing game?

And about how far away from the outside am I supposed to be looking?

It's prolly in this thread somewhere, but it's 11 pages and there was a bit of an argument midway through and its difficult to find:

what's the precise angle / distance for the Sol system?

Angle: 225.06  Distance: 7295.43

This pic is from the OP btw.

Using the orientation of the galaxy as a reference point, see the arm that is longest without any breaks? The arm that Sol is on is the next one up (from the orientation of that pic). Then go up (or down, depending on where you started at) the spiral arm. At the same time, keep an eye on the coordinates bar.

I was confused as to which spiral arm it was on until I saw the pic. It can be easy to miss if you aren't paying attention to the coordinates or the star names. The location is the same for every galaxy in peoples games. The way the stars are grouped might be different. I think it's on a strand or in a small cluster (about 10 parsecs or less) of stars.

Thank you. It was significantly lower than where I thought it was. That's probably why I never found it.

But, is the placement of Sol always the arm to the left like that, before the universe starts revolving?
Or do I just need to check each arm?
